Chicago Tribune:

Chicago radio station WGN-AM is again coming under attack from the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama for offering airtime to a controversial author.

It is the second time in recent weeks the station has been the target of an "Obama Action Wire" alert to supporters of the Illinois Democrat.

Monday night's target was David Freddoso, who the campaign said was scheduled to be on the station from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Chicago time.

"The author of the latest anti-Barack hit book is appearing on WGN Radio in the Chicagoland market tonight, and your help is urgently needed to make sure his baseless lies don't gain credibility," an e-mail sent Monday evening to Obama supporters reads.

The Obama campaign merely asked for supporters to respond to false and inflammatory comments made by two guests of this host. The first guest appeared during the Democratic convention - how did the host think he was going to get someone from the Obama campaign at the last minute - and the host did admit that the first guest was a last minute booking. The Obama campaign asked for callers to be respectful, but to voice their opinion - their 1st Amendment right.

Obama's campaign and supporters make themselves look like radical fascists when they do these stupid "squelch-free-speech" things. Milt Rosenberg had on BOTH David Freddosa AND liberal activist Dan Johnson-Weinberger to debate and discuss the assertions Freddosa makes in his book.

Here's the link to the one hour show:

I regularly listen to both Milt on WGN and to Bruce DuMont and Tom Roeser on WLS Sunday nights for local and national political info and commentary.

I really hate when people try to silence critics on either side with tricks or legal shenanigans (e.g., the Fairness Doctrine b-s).

Here's yet another example of the kind of attacks on free speech we can expect under the Obamastration.

We must not allow any criticism. We must not allow anyone to question our flimsy credentials or shady past. We must smear anyone who shares other political opinions. We must silence all media voices that rally Americans to other points of view. All hail, Obama!

Born and raised Chicagoan here.

Chicago is most definitely 'left'; they don't call it the Chicago Democratic Machine for nothing. Secondly, it is notoriously known as one of the most corrupt cities and is practically perpetually under federal investigation. His district was south-side Chicago neighborhoods. His political mentor was Emil Jones, who famously said "I'm gonna make me a US Senator" (Obama) and 'made' he did. As a matter of fact, Jones' most recent shenanigans (announcing his retirement AFTER the deadline to be put on the Nov. ballot and inserting his son, which is the same way Cook County got its incompetent President) has caused a bill to be sent to the legislature to put and end to this 'tradition' of undermining democracy and voter choice. And Obama first went to the state senate by getting all opponents, including the incumbent, thrown off the ballot. I could give you a looong list of corrupt and incompetent pols who are Obama associates. Obama did nothing to "change" Chicago or Illinois politics (where, BTW, the Democrat Party is in complete disarray).

Kerry got 54% in Illinois. It will be interesting to see what Obama gets. Some of his harshest critics are in Illinois and the Democrats are extremely unpopular right now.

I voted Dem the last 3 elections. It's McCain/Palin in 2008. I have nothing good to say about Obama.

Like so much of today's media WGN has fallen far from its position of integrity. In the 1968 Democratic convention, I guess we were all radicalized by seeing brutality first hand. Barack Obama is too young to remember those days (he was only eight), thus doesn't bear the scars we grey beards do.

first of all politics in chicago is not "left" it is no more corrupt than any other big city. as for obama, he was never a city political candidate. he was a state rep. & senator from chicago. his district is not controlled by the local dems.
