Chicago Ranked Most Stressful City

Chicago is America's most stressful city, according to Forbes magazine, which recently placed us ahead of New York on their list of the most stressful cities in the country.

"Chicago's rising unemployment rate, expensive gas, high population density and relatively poor air quality create a perfect storm of stress," the magazine claims.

I read the Forbes article a few weeks ago and recalled it today when writing a blog post about walking to work. I think it's important to point out that gas prices do not affect those who live in the city nearly as much as this article claims.

Toss in highest sales/tobacco taxes, brutal driving-into-sun commutes, chronic road repair delays, most polarized race/income neighborhoods, punishing winters/summers, pro-illegal/anti-worker employment.

But worth every bit of it for the great folx, food, springs, autumns here...and da Bears.

The CTA is the thing that needs to change to make Chicago a less stressful place to live. It is quantity without quality. Is it really that hard to keep the buses and trains on time. Why does every weather event mean a breakdown for the CTA. This is CHICAGO- you know what our weather is like.Why can't the CTA prepare for rain, heat, cold and snow.

I can't tell you how many times I have waited for a half hour for a bus then 2 come together. or wait 45 minutes and one comes too packed to get on. Or trapped on the train for a half hour with no announcements about what is going on.

Then the stupid govenor let's seniors ride free costing us 30 million dollars at a time when the CTA can't even afford to run.

CTA = Stress

rwe, next time you go to Wrigley why not take public transportation and get a little greener. Sorry, I forgot! You Republics feel too entitled to mix with the masses so you MUST drive your SUV's to and from Chicago to the 'burbs. If you must, drive, I suggest listening to Air America instead of your hate filled pals like the drug addled Limbaugh and clearly disturbed Savage, it might be an eye opener.

Enough with your Republic Party failures. Change. Obama/Biden. See you on 11/4!
