Radar caught a new angle in the financial crisis -- after Barclay's buys up parts of Lehman Brothers, there will likely be layoffs. But will they include a particularly well-connected executive?

Will George Herbert Walker IV be laid off? The President's second cousin is the global head of investment management for now-bankrupt Lehman Brothers, at the managing director level.

From his Lehman Brothers bio:

George H. Walker Global Head of Investment Management George H. Walker is global head of the Investment Management Division at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. In this role, Mr. Walker oversees Asset Management, including Neuberger Berman, Private Investment Management and Private Equity businesses. He is a member of the Firm's Executive Committee.

I knew this clown fifteen years ago when i was dating his sister. Back then he was working in London. I remember it was the first time i had met him. We were out at a London pub and he had one of his Goldman Brethren with him. This was the early 90's and he and his mate were bragging about how they were helping clients cheat the US government out of Corporate taxes by running money through the Grand Cayman Islands. What really got to me was how proud they were of this "loophole". It wasn't long after that he became partner with Goldman. The whole episode made me sick. Chip walker was one of the most egotistical people i've ever met.

It was no surprise to hear that he is involved in the Lehman mess, most likely the cause of it- Hedge fund manager. Give me a break!

I wouldn't be bashing FOX, they're the only network that didn't do a hatchet job on Hillary. Oh! You can be a Democrat, just shouldn't have been one for Hillary. You people are sickening, and that is exactly why 7million Hillary voter's are looking at MCcain. Idiot's on this forum is pushing women to MCcain, and then crying foul because they're there. You can't have it both way's, so get a life, because Nov is right around the corner. And trust me Biden and Obama, better get to work on trying to pull in Hillary voter's, because if they don't they will surely lose. That little one point lead Obama got, is just that little, so don't go talking about how great things are going. If things were going good he would still have his fifteen point lead, anything less then a six point lead by Obama, means the Repubs will win. And, you can take that to the bank...

It's October 9 today and I wonder which bank I should be taking our 9 points to? Actually, there has been a 15 point turnaround in some states. Maybe McCain should move to Alaska where Palin can put him to work.

Just how many George Bush's are there?

There are exactly 4,397 George Bush's in the DC telephone directory. A quick 'google' of the name indicates, approximately 50,000 hits, that 4,396 work for either lobbyists or Investment Banking firms. I couldn't the 4,397th working at all.

I have a few questions which I can't seem to find an answer for.

I don't understand the purpose behind creating a computer virus. Just like to be nasty?

I also can't for the life of me, figgure out why Trolls hang out on a site like this one. Do they actually think they will change some one's opinion and cause them to vote for McCain?

Get real, it ain't gonna happen. All it does is create fervency in Obama supporters. Gosh, I sure hope the RNC is wasting money on paying you guys.

Actually, they are spending money on trolls - and ADVERTISING on McCain's website for the help. This guy is...fecal material.

Jeb Bush also works there as of August 07. It smells like Bush country to me. Remember the SNL bailout? Can you spell N-E-I-L B-U-S-H ?

Forgive my ignorance.

I thought Jim Johnson was at Lehman Brothers from 1981 to 1985 and Fannie Mae Vice Chairman 1990-1991 and chairman 1991 to 1998.

How can he be responsible for what happened 23 yrs later and Lehman Brothers and ten years later at FNMA.

I am ignorant so explain it to me like at 2 year old...Governor.

Interesting, a George Herbert Walker, conservative, republican, two presidents and an ex. gov. in the family, with global connections no less, somehow managed to steward the only air bubble in this sinking ship. It must've been them a bunch of them damned liberals running the rest of Lehman Brothers cause by your measure, it's obvious nobody with this re`sume could be bad for the country!
After all, "W" has a Yale MBA...he was a 'Gubner' (that short for Palin executive experience) and now 'prez'.

Wonder if that can of mixed nuts, Limbaugh, Ingraham, Hannity, Medved, et al, has had any bearing on your thinking. Just wondered, friend, cause if you're Limbaugh ($400 million deal) or Hannity ($25+ million a year), then you can afford to defend Grandpa when he's dribbling about "fundamentals and stuff". Got bank?

And even if GHWB4 get's canned, do you think that matters? Do you think he's going to lose his home? Do you think he will not have another job before the sun sets? Do you think his getting canned is going to put a dime in your pocket? GHWB4 is set for life, pal. He's got a friend "in the business."

He's Family. What is that Italian word they use for "Family?"

Oh, they are so well dressed! And I bet they have several homes and speak English. The American corporatocracy is so great.

corporatocracy is a good phrase, but try plutocracy, a system that is what most failed societies were modeled after.

This is ridiculous. I hate Bush more than anyone and can't even believe that I'm sticking up for any of his kin, but let's be honest here, George Walker was the head of the investment management division, this was not what was causing lehman trouble, this was the division that kept them alive and is still solvent. You're barking up the wrong tree.

Investment Management Division... as in managing Lehman's investments in highly leveraged sub-prime mortgage derivatives? How you conclude that the people who managed Lehman's investments aren't responsible for the firm's failure is beyond me. Bad investments are what CAUSED this whole thing.

But GHWB4 won't get laid off - people in Executive Committees don't get "laid off". They get rich.

CORRECTION:

Jim Johnson was the Managing Director of Lehman AND the Vice Chairman of Fannie Mae.
While he resigned under scrutiny from the first position Obama gave him, he is still an adviser to the campaign.

Wow, Lehman and Fannie Mae. Bankrupt and Bankrupt.
Quite a resume. No wonder Barack likes him.

voidware;

You are dishonest trying to tie Obama with the financial collapse of Lehman and Fannie Mae. But I suppose dishonesty is the new, much coveted, Republican value. I didn't know Obama was in charge of the government that was responsible for regulating financial institutions for the past 8 years. Nor did I know that Obama was a member of the party that promoted deregulation. Hey, may be I should have known better based on the Republican history of lies and lack of accountability. After all, was it not Bill Clinton's fault for failing to heed the August, 2001 PDB warning that Bin Laden was going to attack America. I know he was no longer President, and Bush was the President, but it is Clinton who was to blame. I am just amazed at the consistency of Republican logic.
