"Top McCain-Palin official Carly Fiorina is facing criticism from some within the campaign for a day of what they call 'very Biden-like' comments," CNN reports, "after the former Hewlett-Packard CEO told two separate interviewers that neither member of the Republican ticket would be capable of running a company."

Indeed, the daggers seemed out for Fiorina among the McCain aides that spoke to CNN.

A top McCain official contacted by CNN said, on condition on anonymity, "No big deal, but not how you get on the surrogate all-star team. Very Biden-like."

"This campaign source said Fiorina would be discouraged from additional media interviews.

Another top campaign adviser was far less diplomatic.

"Carly will now disappear," this source said. "Senator McCain was furious." Asked to define "disappear," this source said, adding that she would be off TV for a while - but remain at the Republican National Committee and keep her role as head of the party's joint fundraising committee with the McCain campaign.

Fiorina was booked for several TV interviews over the next few days, including one on CNN. Those interviews have been canceled.

She will disappear the same way they made Condi Rice (the worst secretary of state in the nation's history) disappear from the public scene. They put her in a closet (even in the high profile Russia-Georgia conflict they managed to cover her as minimum as possible). They tried to market her for the # 2 spot for a while but then when people looked closely to her record, they backed off (they figured it would be a tough sell, even impossible). Somebody needs to resurrect Condi and tie her views to those of mcCain (foreign policy and national security). She's a huge liability. Some questions like why didn't you pick Condi instaed of Palin? did you even ask her?.. just embarrass him.. any answer he makes is a disaster for him On the other hand Rumsfeld needs to come back to the front page for a different reason. Not because he and McCain agree on everything (although they do in most of the issues) but because McCain threw him under the bus as a scapegoat just for his own political ambitions. Rumsfeld is still bitter over the mistreatment he got from McCain and if he's back in the headlines, McCain will have to distance himself and that will divide their base. Rumsfeld is popular among right wingers and I'm sure if given a chance to voice his oppinion in this election he'll have some tough words for McCain. He's so bitter

Thanks. It is just sickining to see the neocons again play the masses with the Dems trying to take the high ground and talk only about the issues. Although I'm all for positive campaigning that focus in the future, unfortunately, many voters are easily distracted by the controversies created by the Reps who have no record to run on. We know that the left cares about the future of this country more than the neocons (who are only after their own selfish interests and those of big corporation). But we need to win first to implement change. I will follow your advice :)

Wow, I'm shocked John doesn't like hearing what an independent woman thinks.
Shocked I say.

Does anyone else find it disturbing that John McCain is now telling news outlets what they can do and who they can talk to?

Chris Matthews called it on Hardball last night. He predicted that Fiorina would be gone by midnight.

Carly should have known better and that's what she gets for being UPPITY.

Why is it that the Republicans have such disdain for the truth. Fiorina is one of the most qualified businesswoman in America. Her success and the success of HP is a testament to her savvy. She wasn't being uppity. She was giving her opinion of McCain's and Palin's qualifications. The only thing she got wrong was how being able to run a company translated to the Presidency. The U.S. is one big conglomerate that would be filing Chapter 11 were it not a government. Anyone who cannot run a company, cannot run this country.

What goes uppity must come down.

The funny thing about that was that I read a comment from one of the PUMAs on another site and he claimed Fiorina wasn't going anywhere because, unlike Obama, McCain wouldn't throw someone, "capable, competent, and loyal under the bus." And yes, I did reread the post to make sure he was in fact talking about Fiorina after that description.

Strangely, there hasn't been a lot of comments about Fiorina today.

In other words, since neither Pallin or McCain are competant, she will continue head the money department... But she won't be allowed to speak unless she is in her specially designed "Free Speech Cell."

If you want to get technical, SHE couldn't run her business either.

It's no wonder they had so much turmoil over at HP before she left. It seems like she has about as much tack and social grace as Pellin does. But that can be expected when you try to turn secretaries into heads of large corporations or small state Governors, into Vice Presidents or centers into wide receivers.

There's no tact in the blunt truth. There's no way to sugar coat the fact that you think McCain and Palin are unqualified.

She should know by now that one must always give a postive answer to such questions, no matter how untruthful that positive answer is.

Any M.B.A./J.D. (and there are plenty) knows that the federal government is infinitely more complex and its mandate more compelling than any corporate entity. CF's failure to appreciate that fact makes it clear that she never had the quals to assist voters in making a wise presidential choice.

If JM and SP aren't savvy enough to manage one of the federal government's taxpayers, then they aren't savvy enough to manage the federal government. Period.

CF can try to backtrack and dismiss all of the candidates with the same cavalier opinion; but since she's only been up close and personal with JM and SP, her lack of confidence in their abilities has to be the basis for her opinion...

Telling, indeed

That's the problem. They don't get rid of people that make mistakes. They give them medals. She is being sent to the "back of the bus" to sit with Phil Gramm. Heck of a job, Carly.

Hey, look. None of the candidates could run HP. That's not what they do. But you could look at where they could play to their strengths:

McCain: logistics, facilities management, diversity
Obama: strategic planning, finance, marketing, human resources, mergers
Palin: manufacture of all objects made of neoprene and moose hair
Biden: sales, media relations

Fiorina couldn't run HP either. The company lost over half it's value under her lead

Maybe while she's under the bus, she could fix that, too.
