Salon:

Sarah Palin has been touting herself as fiscal watchdog throughout her political career. But Palin's tenure as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, was characterized by waste, cronyism and incompetence, according to government officials in the Matanuska Valley, where she began her fairy-tale political rise.

"Executive abilities? She doesn't have any," said former Wasilla City Council member Nick Carney, who selected and groomed Palin for her first political race in 1992 and served with her after her election to the City Council.

Four years later, the ambitious Palin won the Wasilla mayor's office -- after scorching the "tax and spend mentality" of her incumbent opponent. But Carney, Palin's estranged former mentor, and others in city hall were astounded when they found out about a lavish expenditure of Palin's own after her 1996 election. According to Carney, the newly elected mayor spent more than $50,000 in city funds to redecorate her office, without the council's authorization.

It would help if we stop using her name. Simply refer to her as McCain's VP. WE DON'T NEED TO GIVE HER THE CELEBRITY SHE DOESN'T DESERVE.

Ladies: Remember the 'in crowd' The girls who had it all.The boys, the clothes, the perfect hair. Remember how they whispered behind your back and laughed. Remember how they made you feel. Remember how you thought you would do anything to gain their approval? Always wondered what became of them? There all Rep-lie-cans and one is on the ticket

Thanks for that "in crowd" perspective.

I want to apologize. I told another poster earlier today that they had produced the silliest and most meaningless post of the week.

Clearly you have blown them out of the water.

"all mean girls in high school were........(wait for it)..........REPUBLICANS".

I am printing out your post to pass to my co-workers. They love a good laugh and your post is worth many.

"John McCain's campaign says the Republican is picking up the support of a top Hillary Clinton fundraiser and member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild has said she thinks Democratic nominee Barack Obama is arrogant and has a problem connecting with average Americans." on HuffPo.

And she's a democrat. Change she can believe in, I guess.

She's a bitter elitist who is pissed that her access to power (Clinton) didn't win.

So what. She's unimportant.

The most chilling quote from this utterly bizarre article (be sure to click over to Salon and read the whole thing... seriously):

"I told her it was against the law to make such a large expenditure without the council taking a vote. She said, 'I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't.'"

Dear Lord, that is EXACTLY the George W. Bush mindset. Compensate for lack of intelligence, insight and experience with ideological certainty, and then dare anyone who doesn't like what you're doing to stop you. Your only recouse to stop the juggernaut is the courts... in Bush's case, the Supreme Court. This is a truly disturbing way of approaching the job of governance. We can look around and see where eight years of this approach have brought us.

"I'm the mayor."

"I'm the decider."

Same difference.

Actually, isn't that Dick Cheney's attitude?

Sure Bush has adopted it but I can't help but think Cheney has been the brains behind the Bush Administrations contempt for the Constitution and the law.

Just what we need. Another Cheneyesque Vice President.

"I told her it was against the law to make such a large expenditure without the council taking a vote. She said, 'I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't."

That is how she handled the charging for rape kits thing. She calims she didn't know about it but it took the state legislature passing a law to stop her town from doing it.

Poor McCain if he wins I think it will go something like this:

President John Sidney McCain III
August 29, 1936 - January 21, 2009
Died from a massive unexpected heart failure.
No autopsy will be preformed.
A great President who will be missed.

Now President Palin will address the nation:

Thank you God for answering our prayers, John will be missed but his death was for the greater good and your will. (In her mind she will be thinking man it took way to long for that poison to take affect I should have been doing this speach yesterday afternoon.)

I'm the president now and I can do what ever I like until the courts tell me I can't, awe the heck with it I'm the prez now I can do what ever I want I have executive privilege.

"Palin Spent $50,000 In City Funds On "Bordello" Mayors Office, Ex-Colleague Says"

..taken from Wikipedia.."A brothel, also known as a bordello or whorehouse, is an establishment specifically dedicated to prostitution, providing the prostitutes a place to meet and to have sex with the clients."

So she spent $50,000 on an establishment specifically dedicated to prostitution, providing and provided prostitutes a place to meet and to have sex with clients.

That is just horrible. Thank you for exposing this lady. I will spread the word. I had no idea she was this sort of "Lady".

REFORM PARTY? Just ask Canadians how well the Reform Party of the West did in Canada. They had to drop the name, and they ALL 'morphed' into Conservatives.

BUSH/CHENEY/McCAIN/PALIN are just the 'Same Old Gang' masquerading as REFORMISTS.

What are they going to REFORM? Their 'Same Old' policies of pre-emptive WAR, cronyism, and incompetence?

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Get this "White Trash" out of the "White House".

$50,000,,, WHAT?

The darn place was not much bigger than Mail Boxes Etc.

OMG,,, and America was upset over the Laura Bush make-over of the Lincoln Bedroom?

What will this Power Monger do to the White House?

Paris Hilton said that she would paint is pink, but that was a tongue in cheek joke.

My Gawd,,,, the place was meant to be an OFFICE. You know, where you have desks, file cabinets, tables and chairs, conference rooms, records keeping, those kinds of things.

$50,000???

WHERE??? On what? Nice Silk Plants, 20 gallons of paint?

I could make a Home Depot look like a Jungle with $50,000 in Silk Plants.

Sheeese!

All the best

It WAS an office before she got it - it had furniture in it.

Normally, mayors do not have the authority to expend that kind of money without first getting approval from the full council. If she did spend the money without such authority, it certainly lends more concerns about her willingness to do as she pleases, rather than as she should.

$50K can be a lot of money for a small town.

I don't think McCain thinks he can win.....he's just trying to set himself up for after the election. Can you see it......him and Bob Dole teaming up to do Viagara ads. Could go something like this......"Not even Sara could give me a hardon....but after 15 hits of Viagara, she turns us both on!!

The only reason why this is close is because Obama is black; even though his mother was white he is still seen as black. I am ashamed that some of my countrymen would rather us go down in flames than have a intelligent, knowledgeable, caring for the people black man as POTUS. If he were white we wouldn't even need to have an election!

Those who use race as a weapon are the real bigots. Trying to paint those who disagree as racists is just liberal facism all prettied up as esoteric comment.

Do you honestly think a white senator would be selected as a presidential nominee with less than 3 years experience in the Senate, nothing of note to recommend him to high office, no military experience, no business experience, no executive experience and two books he wrote about himself? Get real. It is about race. Race is being used as a weapon for the democrats and it isn't working. People are smarter than that.
