First Cindy McCain came under fire for wearing an outfit estimated to cost $313,100 on opening night of the Republican National Convention. Now, Page Six reports, Sarah Palin has taken a liking to designer duds (not to mention expensive eyewear--it was revealed today that Palin's glasses cost $400).

Insiders tell Page Six Palin has a secretive circle of stylists who dress her for events. For her big speech in St. Paul, where she accepted the GOP's vice-presidential nod, this fashion-conscious team encouraged the Alaska governor to splurge on a $2,500 jacket from Saks Fifth Avenue designed by Valentino Garavani.

....One source familiar with Palin's primping posse told us, "They do not want the American public to know that Palin is using stylists or that she is paying for expensive clothes this early on in the campaign."

I never would have guessed Palin had a style team, her outfits are so hideous and her hair is quite unprofessional looking. Fire that style team and get one with... style.

From mamma's family to manhattan chic all in three weeks. Reminds me of when the clampets struck oil and moved to beverly hills. I wouldn't recommed Sarah field dress a moose in that outfit when she gets back to Alaska for good. Perhaps she can sel it on consignment?

My high school daughter spent more on a gown to the High School prom. There were 500 people in attendance. Palin spoke to 38million people. I'd say $2,500 is quite disciplined.

A 2500 dress on a pig,,,it's still a pig

You'd say $2500 is "quite disciplined"? I'd say you and your daughter have screwed up priorities. (Good luck when she grows -- those choices will come back to haunt you. )

Meanwhile, we certainly don't need the same unprincipled behavior from our elected officials.

Wonderful idea Potatoes. i copied the address and will be sending a donation tomorrow!
11:41 PM on 09/19/2008
Here's a fantastic idea. For a mere $5 you can let the McBush folks know what you think.
Here's all you do (if you don't believe in Palin's platform):

Make a $5 minimum donation to Planned Parenthood in Sarah Palin's
name. A Planned Parenthood donation is tax deductible, while a
political donation isn't.

And when you make the donation in Palin's name, they'll send her
a card noting that the donation was given in her name.

Here's the link to the "in honor of" donation link on the Planned Parenthood website

https://secure.ga0.org/02/pp10000_inhonor

Fill in the address to let Planned Parenthood know where to send the "in Sarah
Palin's honor" card. Use the address for the McCain campaign
headquarters:

McCain for President/Sarah Palin
1235 S. Clark Street
1st Floor
Arlington, VA 22202

Feel free to send this along to all your women friends as well
as your men friends and urge them to do the same.

:-)

Great idea!

that did it... at first i was definitly going to vote for mcCain. I agreed with them on so many issues but really this was just the one thing that made me change my mind. i feel soo blessed to have seen this picture before the election.

(i cant even begin to express the amount of sarcasm that is dripping from these words!!)

I love Sarah's glasses. I even like Cindy's style. Cindy has 7 Closets, and they are not all in the same zip code. If only I could be so rich!! Unfortunately, as much as I like the clothes they wear, I just can't see a woman who has admitted stealing drugs to support her habit as First Lady, or a woman who has less political knowledge that I do as a Vice President. So we women can shop until we drop, but the lever will be pulled for the two I feel are qualified to Deal with real issues.

my concern is that she does not seem to embrace her child like a loving mother. It appears in all of her photos that she has not bonded with this special need child.. I do feel so sorry for the little guy... as well as all the palin children.. someday one of them will write a story that makes Joan Crawford "Mommy Dearest" look like Mary Poppins.

That is the lamest comment I've read yet
08:51 PM on 09/19/2008
As much as I despise Caribou Barbie, I have to say this is kind of a non-starter... unless you can dig up reciepts showing that the clothes or glasses were purchased with her State issued credit card or with funds earmarked for the ROAD leading to the bridge to nowhere, or otherwise obtained in some transaction other than a simple retail purchase....and 400 for a pair of eyeglasses fails to register on the "extravagance meter".... it's certainly not "cheap" but not mind boggling either. My last pair ran $250(7 years ago) and were in the mid-range for price.
I would hope that anyone, male or female, would dress appropriately for the event at hand... wearing Valentino to the grocery store would be an outrage... as would wearing ... what is that? Sweats and a tunic? to a major public event.... the "before" outfit IS in the jurisdiction of the fashion police, but aren't there more serious issues at hand?

This woman presents so much genuine cause for concern that I'm franky disappointed at this jab... I KNOW you can dig up better dirt!
11:39 PM on 09/19/2008
I have to agree with you on that note

I might not like Sarah-Palin-the-Candidate...and I do like Sarah-Palin-the-Fashion Plate. She has a nice, classic style sense with her political look. Cindy McCain should get a few tips.

Breaking news:

Palin dresses much better on national television than she does at the grocery store in Alaska.

The Republicans like to call the Democrats Elite. But you have Cindy McCain and her $300,000+ earrings, Sarah Palin and her Valentino designer clothes, and John McCain with his "I don't know how many houses I own..." Who is elite now? I mean, look it's one thing to be well off, but I think it's beyond hypocritical to call someone else an elitist, especially when you flaunt your wealth.
