Palin Stylist

First Cindy McCain came under fire for wearing an outfit estimated to cost $313,100 on opening night of the Republican National Convention. Now, Page Six reports, Sarah Palin has taken a liking to designer duds (not to mention expensive eyewear--it was revealed today that Palin's glasses cost $400).

Insiders tell Page Six Palin has a secretive circle of stylists who dress her for events. For her big speech in St. Paul, where she accepted the GOP's vice-presidential nod, this fashion-conscious team encouraged the Alaska governor to splurge on a $2,500 jacket from Saks Fifth Avenue designed by Valentino Garavani.

....One source familiar with Palin's primping posse told us, "They do not want the American public to know that Palin is using stylists or that she is paying for expensive clothes this early on in the campaign."

I'm sure it was calculating of her to pick Inuit dress when she's out shopping, to show she's just your average Inuit-dressing soccer mom. I'm as white as white bread. I go to Sioux pow-wows every year. And I wouldn't dream of showing up in native dress. Having said all that, I do think this is a silly, non-issue; but I've enjoyed reading all of your posts about it. The Obama-Biden campaign needs to keep the focus on the issues. I DO think that Trooper Gate is an issue of credibility and trust, as is the Bridge to Nowhere. The McCain-Palin ads about the latter kept airing even after she admitted she was supporting the bridge up until the funds were denied.
P.S. I'm unemployed right now for the first time in my career. I buy all my clothes on sale--none of them designer--from stores like Penney's and Kohl's. I've even bought at WalMart. But now I'm not buying any new clothes until I find out if my next job will be in an office setting or working at WalMart.
P.S.S. Crushed red velvet? Eeeewwww. ;)

I love the fact that she wears $2,500 Valentino Jackets, has a stylist, yet sold the Jet because she didn't see the use in wasting Alaska's money.......hmmmmmm....sounds a little like a contradiction.

Oh,is the state of alaska paying for her wardrobe or stylist?..And didn't Michelle undergo a recent "make-over" to make her "softer" and more appealing to middle Ameria?I'll bet she had image consultants, and stylists giving her advice as well. Look, I don't like Palin, but its because of her policy stances, not because she has employed a stylist, and got herself a new power-player wardrobe just like any of her peers would have done..

I totally agree with you--who cares. Come on, does anybody really think that ANY of these politicans and their wives buy their clothes and shoes at Wal-Mart. Let's talk issues and not clothes. No one is talking about where McCain or Obama get their suits.

$400.00 for glasses is extravagantly expensive?..Not where I live! But more to the point, WHO CARES what she wears, and who cares if she has a stylist!;she certainly isnt the only person in the public eye to employ one! Out of the myriad of (far more important )issues we face, this is an extraordinarily petty, shallow subject ; one that is distracting readers from REAL issues!

Speaking of secret style teams, the number tha Cindy McCain paid $300,000.00 for and had on
for her husband's acceptance speech at the RNC looked like it came off the rack at Walmart.

95% of the estimated 300K of that outfit was the estimated value of her jewelry.

OK, so that means she ONLY spent $15,000 on her clothes.

Yep, she's just like all of the rest of us!

Will everyone who spent $15K for the outfit for your last important occasion please raise your hand?

I rest my case. These people actually live in their 7th house -- on a far-away planet.

That was a lot of money to spend to look like an extra on Star Trek. Wait, sorry, that's an insult to Trekkie's (sp?). Sorry!

Cindy McCain must have a crummy stylist. She looks like hell even after spending $319,000. Someone should tell her to put some color on her hair. There I have given her some advice and it didn't cost the witch a dime. As for Gov Palin and her new wardrobe, who gives a crap. You knew the minute she was picked for this gig they would slap an outfit or two on her. As for what she paid for her eyeware, it's not out of line. My eyeware cost about the same, different brand, and are lightweight.

You got that SO right. The person McCain should fire is Cindy's stylist!

Every little girl who owns a Barbie is a stylist... Some just carry it over into adulthood or like me, have little girls of their own to dress up.

My glasses cost £395 in dollars depending on rate will be $550. It's the lastest PRADA designed. I don't care what she wears..but I AM SO UPSET THAT SHE IS FABRICATING HER CV TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. i DONT THINK IT'S FAIR. IN THAT AMERICANS HAVE GONE THROUGH A LOT BOTH AT HOME AND ABROAD AND DESERVED TO HAVE SOMEONE IN THE WHITE HOUSE WHO IS INTELLIGENT AND HONEST. NOT A WAR MORGERS AND A HOCKEY MUM WHOSE ONLY FOREING EXPERINCE IS THAT SHE CAN SEE RUSSIA FROM HER HOUSE.
AMERICANS DESERVE BETTER THAN MCCAIN AND PALIN.....AMERICANS ARE HARD WORKING PEOPLE AND ALWAYS HELPED OTHER COUNTRIES. THIS IS THE TIME FOR OTHER COUNTRY TO SUPPORT AMERICANS AND IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT THE FEW AMERICAN MILLIONAIRES GIVE THE AMERICAN MIDDLE CLASS A BREAK AND START PAYING TAX ON THERE MILLIONS.

It turns out that she is just like us middle class folks after all. My wife and sisters and all their friends wear $2,500 jackets all the time. The jackets look great with the shoes that they have to buy at K-Mart!

I figured all the candidates used stylists. I didn't know it was a national secret......

Of all the things that are wrong with Sarah Palin's candidacy, using a stylist isn't really one of them.

Well the glasses thing is dumb. I wear $400 glasses, but I'm a recently graduated poor college student. Health insurance covered most of that. The rest of it sure, but I don't really think $400 is much for glasses. Depends on the lenses, mostly.

Lenses can cost a ton if you need an extreme prescription or want no-line bifocals or extra-thin lenses. I've had glasses that cost $400, and they were not an extravagance. That was as cheap as I could get them. Most of the cost was in the lenses.

I'm still voting for Obama.

As a single parent, I can't relate to Sarah Palin. She is not a role model to me. I hope women wake up and see her for what she really is: a woman who lies, caribou barbie

So what? I even dress up better if I'm going out to work than if I'm at the supermarket. There's no great story there. Chances are she could find a nice conservative designer and he/she'd lend her the clothes without her having to cough up. That's what celebs do....
