Talking Points Memo:

One thing Sarah Palin cites as proof of her reform credentials is a pay cut she says she took when she became Mayor of Wasilla in 1996.

"As mayor I took a voluntary pay cut, which didn't thrill my husband; and then as governor I cut the personal chef position from the budget, and that didn't thrill my hungry kids," Palin said recently, repeating a frequent refrain.

But did she really get an overall pay cut as mayor? The record suggests a more complex story.

Every time this woman opens her mouth, a lie falls out.

The more I learn about this person, the more I fear we are dealing with a sociopath.

It is clear that she will do anything to gain power,
and stroke her ego.

Yes sociopathy is the correct term here.

How bout the lie that Palin dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween in response to the SNL skit... really? Dressed up as Tina Fey? She probably never heard of her before. I can't stand people who automatically lie in every situation turning everything into a power game.

Didn't Palin also create a city administrator position at $60,000 to actually run the town, something the Mayor had always done before Pallin was elected? She tells her lies and the full facts are never revealed.

Palin is a fraud.

Apparently, Gov Palin was pushed into hiring an Administrator to run the small town of Wasilla. This occured in the early months of her first term as Mayor. After she was almost recalled as Mayor.

I don't even like Palin, and i'm staring to want to see one thing she has to say stand up to scrutiny, just one.

It's like a twisted fascination with hearing her say something truthful with ample sincerity in her voice.

Got goose bumps just thinkin' about it.

I think if Palin gets in the WhiteHouse we may wish for Cheney.

What I'm surprised no one is mentioning, is that for a town of 5,000 after being elected mayor, Palin hired a city manager/administrator to actually "run" the town. So I guess she wasn't quite as involved as a Community Organizer, eh?

And if you want a laugh, check out this video on the Palin/McCain ticket....

For most towns of 5.000 the mayor's job is part time and the pay is minimal. I'd love to see someone do a comparison of other 5-6,000 person towns and what they pay their mayors.

I live in such a town, but definitely not out in the boonies; just over the GWB on the Hudson River in northern NJ; a tiny, upscale (4,500 people) commuter town with one stop light and 3 stores, a bank and a firehouse. The mayor lives down the street from me. I'm going to ask him what he's paid.

This lady lies so much, I think she should produce a birth certificate to show what her real name is, and the Dr. that was there when she was born to make sure she was actually born and not made in a lab somewhere.

That's it! She is lab-made. Not like the rest of us. Actually, she might be a robot.

The thing that gets me most is that we have two wars going on, an economy in collapse, people are losing their homes, their jobs, and some their lives in terrible storms; but the Palin-McCain ticket are up to making jokes all the time. They never seem really serious about this situation in America.

McCain keeps talking about Obama not taking him on in the townhall meetings, whenever people talk to him about his ads. This just seems unreal to me. Are we, Americans not worth his time? are we so distance from him, that he sees us as no body's?

I don't like his jokes during a time of disaster nor do I like his devious smile. He is Bush in deguise.

In my little home town in California, which has roughly twice the population of Wasilla, the mayor's job is part time, and pays far less than what Palin took home. Didn't she hire a city manager for Wasilla for the first time? What did she do to deserve that kind of salary? Didn't Wasilla have a balanced budget when she came into office, and a deficit when she left office? Just asking . . .

From CNN:

"The city originally paid $145,000 for part of the land. The rest of it was valued at about $21,000.
It ended up paying more than $1.5 million, not counting its own legal fees.
Palin's successor as mayor, Diane Keller, said the project has brought in more than $3 million in revenue for local businesses.
"I think this was a community dream. It may have been a part of Sarah Palin's dream, but it wasn't only her dream," Keller said.
The complex is getting a lot of use, but it is not breaking even. Its operating costs are about $900,000 a year, Urban said, and city records show that the city has to pay about $100,000 of that."

So this is the reformar? She bought $200,000 worht of land for $1.5mil and counting? Unbelievable. The good thng is that the MSM is reporting it. The bad thing is that 1) So many ignorantAmericans are star struck and 2) there is so much dirt coming off of this chick that it all gets lost in the wash
