Another Palin Lie: Claimed She Took Pay Cut As Mayor, Actually Got Raise

One thing Sarah Palin cites as proof of her reform credentials is a pay cut she says she took when she became Mayor of Wasilla in 1996.

"As mayor I took a voluntary pay cut, which didn't thrill my husband; and then as governor I cut the personal chef position from the budget, and that didn't thrill my hungry kids," Palin said recently, repeating a frequent refrain.

But did she really get an overall pay cut as mayor? The record suggests a more complex story.

Yes, that was after she gave herself a raise, put all her incompetent friends in city paid jobs, fired all the competent people who had been doing those jobs prior to that and then, she blew out of town... just a hare's breath in front of the recall petition that was being circulated to have her REMOVED as mayor of Wasilla.

I don't think it would do any good. Lie Detectors only work because most people experience some distress when telling a lie. It doesn't sound as though she even knows what the truth is, so there's no distress.

I used to have a boss just like her. These people are DEEELOOOSHUNAL. Her worth is in her head and it was likely set at about 200K per year for the Wasilla Mayor gig. Any amount under the 200K is a "pay cut" in her mind as compared to what she is "entitled" to but is not getting for her incomparable services.

NBC has posted an investigative report stating that Palin solicited millions of dollars in earmarks while mayor of Wasilla and employed the services of a "well-connected Washington lobbyist." The report goes on to contrast those activities with her recent statements claiming she "rallied against federal earmarks." Here is the link:
