Talking Points Memo:

One thing Sarah Palin cites as proof of her reform credentials is a pay cut she says she took when she became Mayor of Wasilla in 1996.

"As mayor I took a voluntary pay cut, which didn't thrill my husband; and then as governor I cut the personal chef position from the budget, and that didn't thrill my hungry kids," Palin said recently, repeating a frequent refrain.

But did she really get an overall pay cut as mayor? The record suggests a more complex story.

What is it that makes Republicans lie when they have no reason to?

Oh, I see. Feeling dissed by Carly Fiorina, Palin is now applying for the job of running a corporation.

I fail to see how this latest claim is a qualification to be president.

hopefully Palin doesn't ask for a $40,000,000 salary if (God forbid it) she ends up in the white house.

Not only a liar, but a compulsive liar. Why does the GOP liar about things that are easily provable? As long as the media pays a minimum of attention to the fact they are liars, they continue to lose support by lying!

Those republicans need to watch out or their noses will grow well beyond their ego. The lies, I can believe it! They just do not get it do they. American people do not want to be lied to any more, we are tired of it. Why is it so hard for you to understand that?

What aggravates me most about this iffy claim is the double-speak. If it's noble and good to refuse a relatively tiny pay raise when the regular folks are having trouble paying for life's essentials, why is it that Republicans continue to insist that these same struggling taxpayers suffer even more to bail out rich corporations to the tune of $85 billion-----AIG alone? Corporate welfare is good and social welfare is bad?

In light of the recent bailouts, it boggles the mind that Republicans even dare to paint themselves as the party looking out for the interests of the little guy. Hey they saved us a few thousand dollars on Sarah's Palin pay raise! While in the meantime, they cost us billions and made billionaries out of the few. Spare me the marytrdom Sarah!

The paper delivered to my hotel room this morning shows that 900 BILLION dollars of bailouts have been given away already this year. That TRIPLES the official budget deficit, or doubling it if you include the wars.

That makes a 1.8 TRILLION dollar budget deficit this year!

SHE HAS DONE NOTHING BUT LIE ,Sad that this is the best the GOP can dig up at the last minute ?She is even trying to convince voters that she is against lobbyists and blames Wall Street lobbyists for a major part of the financial industry's "collapse."
when EIGHTY THREE LOBBYIST work for her campaign !!!: http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/2008/09/9784_palin_blames_lobbyists_for_wall_street.html
These two POLITICANS Shame the REAL Republicans, and McCain has cast a black mark ON their party and is now denouncing his OWN party to convince voters he is AGAINST his own party ,just a temporary denouncment mind you ,because McCain IS the same as Bush,he has supported Bush these past EIGHT years ,and has supported the GOP Party for 26 years or more.McCain IS the same ! Maybe if she keeps pissing Russia off they might just send a little something to her house ,since she is so close to Russia and is now a expert on Policy with Russia, Lord help this country .

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CNN) – Sarah Palin likes to tell voters around the country about how she “put the government checkbook online” in Alaska. On Thursday, Palin suggested she would take that same proposal to Washington.

“We’re going to do a few new things also,” she said at a rally in Cedar Rapids. “For instance, as Alaska’s governor, I put the government’s checkbook online so that people can see where their money’s going. We’ll bring that kind of transparency, that responsibility, and accountability back. We’re going to bring that back to D.C.”

In 2006 and 2007, Obama teamed up with Republican Sen. Tom Coburn to pass the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act, also known as “Google for Government.” The act created a free, searchable web site – USASpending.gov — that discloses to the public all federal grants, contracts, loans and insurance payments.

Can anyone think of anything that Palin has said that has not later been proven to be an outright lie? I can't think of a single thing...

Does Palin not understand that her claims can be factchecked?
She isn't up North anymore. Down here in the lower 48 some people actually adhere to facts, ask tough questions and expect honest answers. Although, so far she hasn't answered any tough questions by the MSM. And has yet to give an honest answer.
Geez, she's a lie-a-minute.

They don't care. Like Colbert, they'll just say whoever publishes these facts are biased -- that the truth is biased.

She fits right in.From the TPM site:
From McCain spokesperson Brian Rogers:

In his rush to score political points on economic disaster, we've heard that at his next event in New Mexico, Senator Obama is about to distort the facts and attack John McCain's call for removing the Chairman of the SEC...
The President of the United States has the power to remove the chairmanship, and always reserves the right to request the resignation of an appointee and to maintain the customary expectation that it will be delivered. Perhaps Barack Obama isn't strong enough to change Washington, but John McCain is.

So before Sen Obama said anything, the McCain campaign says he will distort.
The new McCain doctrine of premptive lying.
