Republican Rep. Endorses Obama

Politico:

Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, a maverick Republican from Maryland, endorsed Illinois Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for president in an interview with WYPR, Baltimore's National Public Radio station Wednesday.

Gilchrest, who lost a primary campaign and is retiring from Congress, has already endorsed the Democrat running for his seat, Frank Kratovil. Justifying his endorsement of Obama, Gilchrest said that "we can't use four more years of the same kind of policy that's somewhat haphazard, which leads to recklessness."

Obama and his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), "have the breadth of experience. I think they're prudent. They're knowledgable."

Wow...Obam­a has been endorsed by a real Republican named Wayne Gilchrest and John McCain was endorsed by a fake Democrat named Joe Lieberman.

Good to see Mr. Gilchrest communicate what I have been saying for two years on this site: that Barack Obama has both the unimpeachable BLUE STATE credentials and soaring RED STATE credibility needed to create a substantive Democratic leaning coalition that strongly expands our thinking and positively informs our actions.

Barack Obama is sensible enough to know that this land belongs to all of us - whether you live in The Rockies of MONTANA or on the Delta of MISSISSIPPI, on the Appalachian Trail of NORTH CAROLINA or among the majestic flat lands of NORTH DAKOTA.

Only together, as Obama has said, can we emerge victorious from the muck and mire of the last 8 years that has halted health care reform, meaning job creation, tuition credits for college students, and a return to decency that mandates the strengthening of social security and medicare, along with a robust revamping of the public education system.

Welcome Mr. Gilchrist. Obama is most certainly well suited to anchor this great country country that I love. You made the right choice.

McCain chose Palin to ignite the culture wars, he didn't give a flat rip about the economy a month ago. If he was so concerned, he would have chosen Romney, at least the guy know a little something about the economy. Now everybody is swimming in debt and running for cover. He knows good and well he is not going to regulate anybody, least of all his rich buddies. More and more mod republicans will leave him in droves. Taking a bet on the american people to get some short term gains. This is ridiculous on his part and it shows his utter complete lack of good judgement
