I Like ItI Don’t Like It

This video from a Palin event today catches the vice presidential nominee putting herself before John McCain on the ticket. Check out the video and read more here from ABC News.

Politico's Jonathan Martin had this related report:

At a rally outside Youngstown, Ohio, Tuesday night, dozens of attendees left while McCain was still speaking.

I caught up with a few of them. Some explained that the airplane hangar where the rally was being held had grown crammed and uncomfortable. Others said they had other events or commitments to get to.

Notably, though, the exodous had only begun after Palin spoke.

Now, the same thing has happened again.

"I look up, about five minutes into McCain's address and see a steady stream of people walking out of the rally," writes Radio Iowa's Kay Henderson from a McCain-Palin event in Cedar Rapids.

This is sooooooooooo bad. My, my, my, maybe her teachers have planted the seed in her mind that McCain would not last long and she would be taking over? Is that possible, and during her speach, her mind running filled with the idea slipped a gear and let it out? Personally I do believe that is what happened. Palin is counting on becoming the next president by default due to McCain's unknown/unreported health issues.

McCain picked her, now, can he control her?

I doubt that he really picked her. He can't remember what he says from day to day. How would he remember an insignificant, inexperienced governor he met maybe once?

She was picked by Rove. McCain actually wanted Liberman.

Godless Holly wood Liberals?? Why are they Godless? Is it because they don't agree with you? Sounds a bit biased to me.

Republicans on the economy:
"The fundamentals are still strong"
"Print baby, print" (more money).
"Print here, print now, pay later"

You think that is a slip? The base wishes it were a Palin-McCain ticket and that was a subliminal nod to them.

I agree. Palin is the Rabid Right's dream candidate, the Reverse-Obama. McCain's campaign is cynical enough to push Palin-McCain

Give her enough rope....let her keep talking. I can't wait for the debates.

She will do wonderfully on the debates. She has more experience than any of the candidates. I can't wait for the debates either, Sarah Palin will woop their behinds.

I guess that would mean she has more experience than McCain too, right. Continue living in your fantasy world and repeating the wingnut talking points.

I don't want some guy who was the cause of 173 sailors dying on the USS Forrestal or who did THIS to innocent women and children as my President.

Many VN vets (including Hagel and Kerry) have talked for years about the different view of the war the infantry had compared to the bomber pilots. Lets be real, McCain bombed villagers, and Hagel saw the blood and brains on the ground. Then POW camp kept McC in the dark about stateside politics. He still thinks we could have won in VN if we had been able to bomb Cambodia. Goldwater, Rumsfield and Cheney were all in this camp. It is no act of nobility McC has never really exploited his stint in prison until these desperate political times for the GOP. His mind must be squirming like a toad.

This is just another example of how hurriedly Palin was rushed into the campaign. McCain didn't bother to vet her and so the campaign has had to deal with numerous distractions. Someone with more experience would be very careful to say "John McCain and I" rather than put her name first. I think all the attention has gone to her head. She knows perfectly well that The Base supports her and is lukewarm at best about McCain. Limbaugh, Savage, Coulter et al. are doubtless hoping McCain will die early and perhaps Palin is starting to think the same way, however subconsciously.

Her tired and trite comments about small businesses creating jobs, and how all we have to do is get the danged government off their backs, are the usual simplistic Republican crap. The Small Business Adminstration helps a *lot* of people get started. And if Big Gubmint wasn't there right now to prop up big businesses the financial markets might be stampeding into a disastrous worldwide panic.

It sounds so simple ... just let them keep more of their money. Sometimes, you get more if you pay a bit more in taxes and get more back in services and benefits. A lot of the people who are bitching the loudest about taxes are actually benefiting from government services the most.

In any case, the Republicans have never done very much for big business: they're much more supportive of leviathans like Walmart.
