This video from a Palin event today catches the vice presidential nominee putting herself before John McCain on the ticket. Check out the video and read more here from ABC News.

Politico's Jonathan Martin had this related report:

At a rally outside Youngstown, Ohio, Tuesday night, dozens of attendees left while McCain was still speaking.

I caught up with a few of them. Some explained that the airplane hangar where the rally was being held had grown crammed and uncomfortable. Others said they had other events or commitments to get to.

Notably, though, the exodous had only begun after Palin spoke.

Now, the same thing has happened again.

"I look up, about five minutes into McCain's address and see a steady stream of people walking out of the rally," writes Radio Iowa's Kay Henderson from a McCain-Palin event in Cedar Rapids.

i don't understand. if Palin is as bad as Democrats say, they should be happy, since this will help Obama win.

I know Republicans were very happy about the Biden pick.

Why aren't the women happy now??

Because LIBERAL women are scared sh*tless of Governor Sarah Palin. Isn't it pathetically obvious?

We're not scared of her at all - harpies don't frighten women. The only thing we're scared of is the ignorance of the American public that gets their news spoon fed to them by FOX. People like you.

Of course I'm scared. Incompetentence and stupidity at dangerous levels in high ranking offices scare me. America's voting record for the past two elections scare me. I am terrified that the McCain-Palin ticket (or Palin-McCain ticket) will succeed.

As a woman, I'd like nothing more than to spend an afternoon telling you why we're so unhappy with this pick. Since I can't do that, I'll just say, she's the wrong woman for the job. McCain should be ashamed for putting her on the ticket. Country first is looking like a joke, but then McCain looks kind of like one as well. There are members of his own party beginning to question her ability.

Didn't you see the Gibson interview? She didn't even know what the Bush Doctrine was. In what respect, Charlies? LOL That's the best line of this campaign.

And since you're obviously supporting this ticket, I won't even mention the gall of your veep who is afraid to hold a press conference, afraid to answer a question about her foreign policy experience. Nor will I mention she welcomed the troopergate investigation and now shuns it by using the lame excuse that it's tainted with partisanship. It's a bi-partisan panel with more repugs than dems. I don't understand you people. Why do you fall head over heels for this woman when her husband runs and hides from a subpoena?

Shame on you, you don't really want any answers.

It will not necessarily help the Democrats win, although it is looking more and more likely everyday that Obama has a good chance. However, just in case he doesn't the idea of Palin one day being in charge scares the hell out of people-myself included. She has no business being in this particular position. It was just a desperate act made by an old desperate, sad, stiff, little man that made her possible.

VOTE NOVEMBER 4!

And what exactly, is Barack HUSSEIN Obama's experience????? Please enlighten us.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:24 PM on 09/19/2008

Democrats ARE happy w/ the Palin pick, for just that reason. But that is all the more reason to proclaim concern about her incompetency and fear for our nation. Imagine the shame we would have to bear among the developed countries of the world if our president's recent "executive experience" included trying to fire the local librarian, and her "foreign policy" credentials consisted of knowing where Russia is.

Wouldn't it have been nice to have had an electoral choice between similarly rational, intelligent, people?

Heaven help us.

Let me see if this single female can enlighten you. Until two weeks ago I didn’t spend much time thinking about reproductive choices. For one, I practice safe sex, unlike some people who shall remain nameless. However, rape is a completely different matter. It’s rape, people. Palin and I do not share the same view on this subject. Her viewpoint would force me, and victims of incest in the instance of rape, to carry a child to term regardless of circumstance. And that is totally unacceptable. Neocons talk an ineffective game about smaller government (which is blatantly false) and yet if you have your way, they would govern and control what happens to a woman’s body.

I can’t understand why you call yourself pro-life, when you conveniently disappear after the child is born. When life is starting out and help is needed most you’re out of the picture. Gone like a deadbeat dad. And your neocon party continually refuses to fund any social programs that might help both mother and child through a difficult time. OMG, social programs BAD! Not.

As a woman I feel voting for SarahSpears is a reproductive choice that falls into the absolute ludicrous category.

Your beliefs are your own. But you have no respect for mine and neither does SarahSpears. You don't understand liberal women, It's simple. All women are not buying into this SarahSpears lovefest.

Though I don't agree with abortion, I have to totally agree with a woman's choice. This is my personal feeling: Sarah Palin is not the liberal conservative woman she wants everyone to think she is.

If Roe vs. Wade is overturned and abortion becomes illegal then what are the ramifications for the male who has gotten the female pregnant? I am not talking about in the case of rape or incest. Is the male going to be help accountable to finacially and emotionally care for the child for the 18 plus years that it takes to parent, advise and support your child?

That is what Sarah Palin needs to be asked once the Republican Party gets this invisible forcefield from around her.

Glad to be Independent!

SurferKit, I couldn’t agree more!

As a woman in my mid-forties, I am horrified to think that anyone in 2008 would dare to question the separation of Church and State and attempt to impose their values on me. Last time I checked, the separation of Church and State was guaranteed to us by our forefather’s back in the late 1700’s, these rights extend to all US citizens and are defined as inalienable_ meaning guaranteed to all that fall under the umbrella of citizenship. Personally, I would not opt to terminate a pregnancy; but I would never in my wildest dreams dare to tell you what you can and cannot do. That it is not your choice.

Have you even considered the implications of overturning Roe vs. Wade? What that would actually mean for Women’s Rights? Women’s health? Women’s life expectancy? What the socio-economic burden legislating this kind of decision would have on the public? Have you considered any religious view other than your own?

I suggest you take a moment to remember the golden rule. Fact: It is a woman’s legal right to make decisions regarding her reproductive health. Additionally, it is extremely unlikely the government will overturn R v. W, regardless of how the court is stacked. With so many paramount issues in this election, please don’t hang your vote on an agenda unlikely to be addressed.

Continued...

Look at what is happening with the economy. Phil Graham is Sen. McCain’s pick for Secretary of Treasury. The man the created all of the deregulation could potentially be entrusted with this country’s fiscal health if McCain is elected! What was it he said…“We’re not in a recession. It’s all in your head. American’s are a bunch of whiners.” Being right here is of no comfort to any of us. Hope you enjoyed you economic stimulus check… Do you really think it way of any real benefit given the President’s statements this afternoon?

I like the guy, what can I say? He has nice eyes. I appreciate his hesitation to spew before he thinks. In public speaking, I was taught not to use filler words like, "Uh, you know, HMmmmmm, verbiage." So, I can't fault him for being different from Bush's smirk, pause smile, stare at his prompts, then spout more drivel he is clueless about the meaning.

Is that a fruedian slip or what? The way McCain has sounded lately; she may in reality be the next president. I am sure her backers in the Republican Party were thinking this when they promoted her to McCain.

Though, her comments bother me. While she is correct to say that taking money from small businesses might impede their growth. The true impediment to economic growth occurs when people can't afford to buy things from these small businesses.

It is the little people who drive the economy. If they have spare money, it gets spent. The rich would rather go to Niemen Marcus, Nordstrom or some fancy little boutique. Look no farther than Cindy McCain and what she buys for her wardrobe.

If breaks are given to those making under $250,000, there will be more money spent at these smaller ma and pop businesses. Maybe Cindy McCain might have to buy one less outfit next year; however, in the long run the economy will be better off if everyone who makes under $250,000 bought one more set of clothes next year. That money spent will provide more employment Cindy's money spent on that one outfit will.

No; however, I hope to have my job tomorrow as most of us do. I am like many who without a job would be on the street. Some people might call me successful; however, success and the street is not that far apart.

The issue is the economy. If succeeding in life were fair, if it was a level playing field, then everyone should be taxed evenly across the board. I would argue that some people have an advantage by birth or just by happenstance. As a result, one does not tax the wages of people equally.

My argument is that for people to be rich and successful, they need little people like me at the lower end of the scale to be able spend money. That is how most businesses make money by having people spend there money at the business. If people don't have money to spend, these businesses will be out of business.

What small businesses? This is Walmart Amahrica, and republicans love Walmart. Walmart is GOOD for the economy, just like destroying the Arctic Preserve is GOOD for America, and spending our wad chasing imaginary terrorists in far off lands is GOOD for Amahrica, and deregulating banks and lending practices is GOOD for Amahrica.

BTW, it's freudian.
