I Like ItI Don’t Like It

This video from a Palin event today catches the vice presidential nominee putting herself before John McCain on the ticket. Check out the video and read more here from ABC News.

Politico's Jonathan Martin had this related report:

At a rally outside Youngstown, Ohio, Tuesday night, dozens of attendees left while McCain was still speaking.

I caught up with a few of them. Some explained that the airplane hangar where the rally was being held had grown crammed and uncomfortable. Others said they had other events or commitments to get to.

Notably, though, the exodous had only begun after Palin spoke.

Now, the same thing has happened again.

"I look up, about five minutes into McCain's address and see a steady stream of people walking out of the rally," writes Radio Iowa's Kay Henderson from a McCain-Palin event in Cedar Rapids.

Remember when the knock on Obama was that he wasn't substantive enough. My how things have reversed.

So if this makes for a really bad week according to Huffpo then how bad a week did Obama have when he said.

"let me introduce the next President of the United States Joe Biden"

then Biden says

Barack America

Please huffpo this is pathetic. Your guy did the same thing except he flipped himself to the bottom of the ticket.

This is a real mature headline.

With all of this talk about McCain's age and the liklihood of Palin actually being president, what might happen if McCain pulled out BEFORE November 4? What if he became ill. or if the RNC floated the idea that he was too ill to continue? Would they make SarahSmile the nominee?

"Laura Chase, the campaign manager during Ms. Palin’s first run for mayor in 1996, recalled the night the two women chatted about her ambitions. “I said, ‘You know, Sarah, within 10 years you could be governor,’ ” Ms. Chase recalled. “She replied, ‘I want to be president.’ ”

IMO the evangelical - eschatological wing of the Repub party chose Palin as their primary candidate for POTUS. They are letting McCain play the part of the candidate so long as he hews to their script and stays medicated, in return for which they allow him the perks of a vacuous, titular presidency. Woe unto McCain though if he doesn't die or become incapacitated quickly enough.

A VP Palin would be much easier to take had she at one time or another tried running for president.
We seem to be watching her national political positions develop on the fly, which is not a secure thing given that she could be president of the U.S. as soon as late January or February. The interview with Charles Gibson was quite revealing. When Gibson asked her about the Bush Doctrine, she simply glazed over and responded "in what respect". She clearly did not know the Bush Doctrine and was seeking help from Gibson. There is briefcase which follows the president which contains the ability to launch a nuclear war. Handing that briefcase over to her as soon as January would be foolhardy. I don't doubt that she is capable of eventually learning foreign and domestic policy, but the risk is too great something could happen to McCain. Worst yet McCain does not have a clue about economics and has been relying in the past on Phil Gramm who advocated not regulating derivatives.

This is no mistake, Palin is the present and future star, while McSame is yesterday's news. If elected, McCain will be a carbon copy of Bush---just a figurehead, kept in the dark about what's really going on but paraded in front of the cameras to maintain the charade, while Palin's handlers will play the part of Cheney, the real power behind the throne. McSame's advisers are having the poor man read scripted words one day, then read scripted words that contradict the scripted words he read the day before. Funny thing is that there is not a word about McSame exploding with anger against his his advisers for making him look foolish/just plain dumb---a very, very bad sign of a man who can be made to say and do /take no action just as long as he is made to believe he is in charge. Just as it has been the Cheney administration for the past 8 years, it will be "Palin's administration" to everyone BUT McSame, who doesn't have a clue that, although he heads the repub ticket and if elected will be known as "prez", will be playing THIRD banana behind First ,the advisers/lobbyists, and Second, Sarah "Puppet" Palin.

McSame IS just LIKE BUSH. McSame, wake up if you want to be the real McCain again!

If you want this great country's government to continue to function like a septic tank then go ahead a vote for another republican ticket. But if your sick and tired of the corruption and politics as ususal then vote for a change, a democratic change, and give this nation a much needed courtesy flush. Put these rightwing self -rightious, self-centered @$$wipes on the endangered feces list where they belong................

People want to hear Palin for the same reason they go to auto races. They go not to see cars just zoom around the track, but to see them crash.
People are willing to wait and listen to every word she says just to be there for the crash.

I just heard Simple Sarah Palin say that Obama tells people to protest McCain. I guess she believes he must have secret meetings telling a secret underground network to protest. What Simple Sarah Palin, Six year Sarah, Six School Palin doesn't understand is that a majority of people don't agree with so-called neoconservative policies and they come out to say so. Nobody tells them to protest. People have that right here in the lower 48 (well so far...)

Simple Sarah, maybe you should go back to school and get a degree in something other than journalism. And please, stop lying...

You need to keep up on your current events….the meetings aren’t so secret

Barack Obama Sept 17,2008
"I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face," he said.

He was telling people to talk to their neighbors. McCain's camp does the same thing. He said nothing about protesting... Palin said protest McCain, not argue with neighbors. Debates with neighbors is healthy. Protests are different. Simple Sarah is pretty good at being a simple shell for the neoconservative movement. We'll see her again and that scares me...

At the same event Palin referred to McCain standing right behind her as the candidate, not by name several times, I thought that was odd and somewhat disrespectful. Sarah tone was a little more somber when she introduced him this morning. They put me mind of a TV news anchor team with an old guy of credibility and the female young side kick, who gives the show some eye candy, both reading their script’s happy face for good news, serious face for bad news.

Palin is not the best, not even close. We have a country full of educated people. We have great scientists, great politicians, great minds. She got a D in economics, took six years and six schools to get a bachelor degree in journalism.

Some people do not prove themselves via school. But she is new and hasn't proven herself. What is she going to do, appoint her high school friends to posts in Washington? If you thought 'heck of a job Brownie' was bad...

Palin/McCain = we are screwed.... Oh Canada...

Olbermann's 62 second condensation of the Hannity-Palin love fest, er, interview, reveals something very disturbing.

She talks as if SHE will be running the country, bringing reform, shaking things up, ruffling feathers, blah blah.

I think she is confused about which office she is running for.

McCain should be as afraid of her as we are.

She is not confused at all. Mc Cain is ailing. She is attracting attention, voters and the media attention which they want. Its still all about her. They are neither interested in Mc Cain or Biden.

Rightwing american s h i t eh ea ds think we are 'socialists' here in Europe. Let me explain to those numbnuts the difference between US and YOU. IN Europe, CEO's can only afford to have 2 luxury homes and 2 yachts and 5 luxury cars while their employees get 5 weeks a year vacation and work 38 hour work week and can afford to drive a Mercedes. IN America, a CEO can afford 10 luxury homes, 5 yachts and 20 luxury cars while their employees work their a z z off and can only afford to drive a Ford. Oddly enough those European companies STILL make large profits while American companies have to be bailed out by the taxpayers.
