MINNEAPOLIS — Hillary Rodham Clinton stepped up her efforts Friday to swing her supporters behind Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, her former rival for the nomination.

In an outreach dubbed "Hillary Sent Me," the New York senator invited her primary-season partisans to get involved directly in Obama's campaign and to donate to it. As part of that, she urged them to travel to a specific battleground state each weekend, beginning with New Hampshire on Sept. 27, when she will be campaigning for Obama in Michigan.

"Today I am asking all of you to stand up with me, to hit the road and spread the word that we must elect Barack Obama president and send a Democratic, filibuster-proof majority to Congress," Clinton told supporters in a conference call Friday. "This is a call to action, a must-do. We all have a role. And there is not a moment to lose."

Starting Saturday, Clinton's political Web site will offer backers information about Democratic campaign events and grassroots efforts.

Clinton said the outreach "continues the historic journey that you have made with me."

"I like to tell people this is a twofer," said former New Hampshire Gov. Jeanne Shaheen, who is challenging Republican John Sununu for his Senate seat in that state and also took part in the call. "You can come up. You work in the presidential race, you can work in the Senate race."

The effort was organized with the Obama campaign and state Democratic parties nationwide. Its goal: to engage the former first lady's donors and voters _ many of whom are still sore over her loss to Obama in the epic primary contest _ to put that firmly behind them and help in battleground states.

The New York senator has already campaigned for Obama in Ohio, Florida, Nevada and New Mexico and raised more than $5 million for his campaign. "Hillary Sent Me" is her first explicit pitch to her grass roots supporters to get involved, Clinton aides said.

Everyone:

Please take a moment to vote in this PBS poll being conducted on Palin. It takes about 30 seconds only.

I assume that poll is so close because it's been infiltrated by Palin trolls. I would imagine there isn't a single PBS fan among them.

Hillary and Bill maybe be a little self obsessed and power hungry(and what politician isn't, even Obama) But to those that think they are some evil duo hell bent on destroying the Democratic party just to suit their own needs, well thats just crazy! ! !

Term woman applied when convenient...

Clinton said. "One is women in their 90s who come to my events... They all say something like, 'I'm 95 years old. I was born before women could vote in this country and I'm going to live long enough to see a woman in the White House.' The other group is the children who come... I see a parent lean over to a daughter and say, 'See, honey? In this country you can be anything you want to be.” ...unless you are a conservative women than you don't count...as much.

To answer your comment, McCain received 24k of donations from UBS Bank employees and has not ruled out the posibility of having Phil Gramm as his treasury secretary. What I'm more upset about is the fact that McCain all the sudden wants to be a champion for regulation while he is on the record saying he's fundementally against regulation.

There's already an Obama ad that's been out since last week, showing McCain trumpeting his devotion to deregulation as the solution to all of our economic woes. Keeping Gramm in the mix is a stupid, stupid mistake... they just handed Obama a huge sound bite right there.

Make no mistake "regulation" under mccain would be as illusory as everything else he says.
04:58 PM on 09/22/2008
And he says a lot of things which are directly contardicting to other things he said

Chicago Tribune July 2007, Obama's Big Fish, we learned that the second largest fundraiser to Obama campaign was UBS bank employees, who donated some $142K. We have learned from Mother Jones news article Foreclosure Phil that Phil Gramm's "other job" is as executive at...that's right, you guessed it, UBS bank. Now why is the mastermind of the current mortgage meltdown, Phil Gramm working at the bank that funded Obama's early campaign?
Can anyone explain this connection me please?

When Obama's campaign is raking in $66 million in a month, you can bet that Barack is not sitting around counting where every $142k is coming from. Does it suck that our electoral system requires candidates to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in order to be viable? Sure, big time. But until we fix it, it's the system we're stuck with.

What Obama is NOT stuck with is Phil Gramm, architect of the sub-prime meltdown, as his #1 financial advisor, author of his financial policy plan, and #1 choice for Secretary of the Treasury. That would be John McCain who's stuck with all that stuff.

I'm no fan of H but it's pretty obvious that in order to win this Biden should step down and she should become the VP. For the sake of the party and winning, this has to be done.
01:19 AM on 09/22/2008
okay, you've been pimping this crap on every thread on the board ... what gives?

You're no fan of H? Really?

Nothing would gall Hillary more than seeing Sarah become the first woman president by default.

Glad to see the Clintons getting back to their love fest with the Dems.

Oh please, like Sarah Palin is ever going to be elected President.

Look what Hillary's own party did to her because she was a woman.

If a smart, experienced intelligent woman like Hillary was ousted out and treated horribly, do you really thing a woman like Palin has a shot.

GIVE IT UP,.

I will vote for Obama just to vote against the neocons but I will throw up when I get home. Are you happy now? Hillary 2012!
