I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mccain

Fumbling, again, some of his economic messaging, McCain confused the Federal Election Commission for the Securities and Exchange Commission during his speech on the housing and financial crises Friday morning.

Calling for SEC Chairman Chris Cox to step down, McCain declared: "I believe the chairman of the FEC should resign and leave office immediately."

It was the second straight day in which the Senator made a verbal flub. On Thursday he actually called for Cox to be fired, only to be reminded, via an ABC News report, that the president cannot axe the SEC Chairman.

That McCain would substitute FEC for SEC may seem like an innocent rhetorical misstep. But it plays into a broader criticism of the Senator: mainly that he is uncomfortable with matters pertaining to the economy. The FEC, after all, is a regulatory agency that deals with the financing of federal elections. The SEC is an independent agency that enforces federal securities laws and regulates the securities industry.

The rest of McCain's speech Friday morning, it should be noted, was as memorable as the gaffe. The Senator ripped Obama for his ties to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae (both via campaign contributions and advisers). And he all but blamed the Illinois Democrat -- and his allies in Congress -- for the current crisis in the market.

As Senator Obama's leader in Congress memorably put it the other day -- and I quote -- "no one knows what to do." Perhaps given that reaction, it shouldn't surprise us that the Congressional leaders of this do-nothing Congress also said that they weren't going to take action until after the election, claiming that it wasn't their fault. I am hopeful that last night's discussions are a sign they have changed their mind and will take action soon. But any action should be designed to keep people in their homes and safe guard the life savings of all Americans by protecting our financial system.

...

Two years ago, I called for reform of this corruption at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Congress did nothing. The Administration did nothing. Senator Obama did nothing, and actually profited from this system of abuse and scandal. While Fannie and Freddie were working to keep Congress away from their house of cards, Senator Obama was taking their money. He got more, in fact, than any other member of Congress, except for the Democratic chairman of the committee that oversees them. And while Fannie Mae was betraying the public trust, somehow its former CEO had managed to gain my opponent's trust to the point that Senator Obama actually put him in charge of his vice presidential search.

Can someone help me? I am truly confused.

Wasn't he talking about the financial crisis when he said this? What does the FEC have to do with that?

I'm missing the connection. SEC made more sense in the context, didn't it?

How does this "correction" help clear up the "misunderstanding" about what he was talking about?

Someone explain to me please how the FEC has anything to do with what he was talking about???

McPOW is getting more out there by the minute. The current financial crisis can be traced directly back to his pal Phil Gramm and the repeal of the Glass-Steagal act. Unfortunately it can be tracked back to Mr. Biden and other Dems not named Feingold, Boxer, Dorgan or Harkin. Of course no Republicans voted against it while I believe McRichwife voted present.
More to the point: According to the Phoenix Business Journal,

"Obama and McCain . . . have accepted a substantial amount of campaign money from Wall Street bankers, investment and securities firms and their executives during this election cycle.

Investment firms have donated $9.9 million to Obama and $6.9 million to McCain this campaign thus far, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Commercial banks have given Obama $2.1 million and McCain $1.9 million. Private equity firms and hedge funds have given Obama $2 million and McCain $1.4 million, according to CFRP.

Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase & Co., UBS and heavyweight law firm DLA Piper are among Obama's top contributors. JP Morgan acquired Bear Stearns with the federal government taking on as much as $30 billion Bear assets as part of the deal. McCain's top donor sources include Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Blank Rome and Greenberg Traurig LLP law firms."

McCain will now consult with Palin on how best to fire Chris Cox, as that is Palin's area of expertise. Sources say that though he can't directly fire Cox, Palin has submitted plans to circumvent this and apply pressure to key personnel to force him out. Palin said earlier today, "Yup! That's why I'm here, for John McCain to make use of my special skills honed in Alaska's political scene! Like, this is easy. Washington is just like Alaska, only there's more people there!"

McCain:
"Did I just say bomb Iran or Israel - or Ireland?"

What worries me about McCain is his lack of attention to detail. I think it's a distinguishing factor from Obama who is on the opposite end of the spectrum.

That's not to say McCain wouldn't be a good president, but it worries me. I'm a firm believer in the saying, "The devil's in the details."

Of course the devil is in the details. McCain didn't pay attention in his choice of his VP, only relied on Palin's title "Governor" so now it turned out she spent so much time with her children, but still earned full-time salary and is paid for the time she stayed home too, Plain didn't have time for details also! In budget meeting, she kept silent for hour while staff hashed it out with the Legislature members: "Some say Palin's focus on a narrow set of goals has excluded other problems facing Alaska, such as health care and the long-term stability of the state budget. "She can only handle a few issues directly," said Lois Epstein, director of the Alaska Transportation Priorities Project". Voters should be very careful who they give theri trust to. It turned out McCain had kept secret of POW left behind in Vietnam too. Read the article somewhere on H'Post for details.
"McCAIN: LUST FIRST, COUNTRY LAST", "Vote DEMOCRAT for EDUCATION REFORM, RENEWABLE ENERGY, EQUAL PAY, VETS BENEFITS".

I think this statement is much too generous. McCain is uncomfortable dealing with any matters whatsoever. In what subject does he have a command of facts? He's not even knowledgeable in his favorite subject, making war.

He knows a lot about war. Start one wherever there is a problem and worry about the consequences later. God forbid this man--or his oh-so-prepared running mate--gets his finger on the button to Armageddon.

Don't forget Mc Cain's (IOHH) diagnosis-"in over his head" compounded by (DHAC)-"doesn't have a clue". A virtual "alphabet soup" of deficiencies.

The fact that we have to discuss this at all is depressing.
There are other republicans that are way more fit.
This is a scam and fraudulent. Sarah Palin?
In what regard, Charlie?
