The RNC communications shop just sent out an email blasting the Obama campaign for "invoking the crisis on Wall Street" in a fundraising email.

Here's the statement from Alex Conant of the RNC:

"This is the definition of political opportunism - not leadership. It raises serious questions about Obama's judgment when millions of Americans are losing their jobs and savings, and his response is to ask for a campaign contribution. ... The crisis on Wall Street should be a bipartisan call for government reform - not a selfish call for political contributions."

Either this is purely faux outrage, or the RNC hasn't been reading the McCain campaign's emails, which also brag about McCain's leadership on the Wall Street crisis and ask for donations.

In a series of state-focused emails sent out by the campaign yesterday, supporters are encouraged to "Help John McCain and Sarah Palin run full steam ahead by donating! To provide your generous gift, click here."

Just below the solicitation, supporters are guided to stories such as, "McCain Promises to 'Clean Up Wall Street,'" featuring McCain's line, "The American economy is in a crisis. It is in a crisis."

The McCain email also links to the campaign's recent ad "Dome," which begins, "When our economy's in crisis, a big government casts a big shadow on us all. Obama and his liberal Congressional allies want a massive government, billions in spending increases, wasteful pork."

Clearly, Team McCain is fishing for some facts to justify its (apparently baseless) claim that, as McCain put it, "Sen. Obama's own advisers are saying that the crisis will benefit him politically."

They'll need to keep looking.

Supposedly McCain won't touch Social Security of current recipients.

However, if he's elected, what's to keep him from saying, "We're going to 'borrow' your Social Security money instead of borrow all $1 trillion from China. Your Social Security will be invested in these institutions. That means your Social Security benefits could be cut by 25% up to 50% until the banks can pay it back based on how well the market does over the next 50 to 100 years."

"Same with 401ks and IRAs, especially those tied to mutual funds. Your 401k and IRA payments will be based on the performance of your mutual fund. If it collapses, sorry. You were told that there was no guarantee with your mutual fund investments. However, they did tell you that no mutual fund has ever gone bankrupt. So maybe after 50 or a 100 years, your mutual fund and 401k and IRA will be back up to where it was before Wall Street went belly-up."

"Your money will be put to good use though. These failed financial institutions have to honor their Golden Parachute contracts to their CEOs. So your Social Security, 401k and IRA money will be put to honorable use. Think how moral it is for you to lose your home, life savings, retirement income for the sake the peace of mind of these embattled, but well-deserving CEOs."

Love and kisses - John McCain, Sarah Palin, G.W. Bush and the entire GOP.

MCCAIN AND HIS CRONIES ARE NOTHING BUT LIARS AND HYPOCRITES!!!

they continue the same rove tactics so that they can continue their destruction of the middle class, all mccain wants to do is take us to war to satisfy his thirst for blood. Obama needs to call him out on it, his wanting to show force whenever he deems appropriate is ridiculous and very dangerous and when you examine his approach, there is no way that he will not reinstitute a draft. He voted against increasing benefits for veterants noting that they will want to leave the military which is ludicrous and he wants war, so most people will avoid the military and he will be left with no choice.

this man has already shown sign of dememtia and will only get worse as the days goes by, is this the man you want in the whitehouse?
vote no to mccain and all his cronies, the republican party!!!!

Trillion dollars to bail out fortune 500 companies, where was this trillion dollars to help those in katrina, Gustav, Ike. Where was this trillion dollars to fix US bridges, help prevent home foreclosures, help with keeping jobs here in the US, help in keeping gas prices low, help the homeless in the US, provide healthcare, fund social security, pay our teachers and improving our schools, providing aid for college tutions, creating new jobs, help in researching new energy and global warming. The US had no money to do any of the things that directly affect the citizens of this country, yet they can bail out corporations whose CEO's make millions of dollars a year in salaries and billions of dollars a year for their stockholders, until the people who are responsible for them earning such profits, can no longer afford to pay their mortgages, healthcare, or insurances because the job they once had relocated overseas because the labor is cheaper and the cost of living is lower. Where was all this money before and how is it going to be subsized now? The Republicans are not going to raise taxes on the 5 million dollar middle class workers, that must mean the lower income citizens will be forces to pay this trillion dollar debt. Someway, Somehow Republicans will make us pay for their mistakes.

The Republicans have put this into a Financial Ditch. No bid contracts on every thing touches this Country .Two Wars.Gave the keys to candy store with out any over sight to the people on Wall Street. Shipped jobs good jobs over to China.Let China ship back to this Country every contaminated item they could produce.Shredded the Constitution.Ignored the laws of this Country.Gave there unqualified friends top jobs in the Government..Ruined the Military Told our allies over seas to screw themselves. So I think it takes a lot of nerve for any Republican to call Obama risky, scary or unqualified. If you don't think the last 8 years have been scary and a risky time for this Country than your in Bush's inner circle.

You are being unfair. China has kept plenty of contaminated items for its own citizens. Other than that, I'm in agreement.

This weeks financial meltdown should be enough to make anyone who is thinking of voting for McCain - Palin to change their mind! We cannot stand another day of these totally incompetant Republicans! They are nothing but a party that panders to big business, lets' them do whatever they want without any financial oversight and then when they go belly up they bail them out to the tune of 1 TRILLION DOLLARS! We cannot take anymore of this this country is heading into a great depression!

The Straight Jacket Express coming to a town near you. It takes two, Palin has to travel with McCain to keep public interest in the campaign and the more she is relied upon to keep him in it, the less she is liked. This is a campaign in its death throes.

This is a classic case of the pot calling the skillet black. McCain is shameless now. The Straight Talk Express is the StraightJacket Express. America will reject this lunacy because Money trumps race and we need solutions for our economic life now. No one will trust a man who from Keating forward was on the take.

Excuse this trivialty but the photo looks a little like "mini me" being held up. On a serious note, it seems like McCain has had more sound bites with these bail outs than Obama. Of course most of these sound bites did not make a bit of sense.

Read this article, and consider: History is only "Old News" until it repeats.

Is this what Obama and 3rd Party candidates are really up against?

It's your democracy. It's your country. Now that you know, what will you do about it?

Shed apathy. Spread the word.
