The RNC communications shop just sent out an email blasting the Obama campaign for "invoking the crisis on Wall Street" in a fundraising email.

Here's the statement from Alex Conant of the RNC:

"This is the definition of political opportunism - not leadership. It raises serious questions about Obama's judgment when millions of Americans are losing their jobs and savings, and his response is to ask for a campaign contribution. ... The crisis on Wall Street should be a bipartisan call for government reform - not a selfish call for political contributions."

Either this is purely faux outrage, or the RNC hasn't been reading the McCain campaign's emails, which also brag about McCain's leadership on the Wall Street crisis and ask for donations.

In a series of state-focused emails sent out by the campaign yesterday, supporters are encouraged to "Help John McCain and Sarah Palin run full steam ahead by donating! To provide your generous gift, click here."

Just below the solicitation, supporters are guided to stories such as, "McCain Promises to 'Clean Up Wall Street,'" featuring McCain's line, "The American economy is in a crisis. It is in a crisis."

The McCain email also links to the campaign's recent ad "Dome," which begins, "When our economy's in crisis, a big government casts a big shadow on us all. Obama and his liberal Congressional allies want a massive government, billions in spending increases, wasteful pork."

Clearly, Team McCain is fishing for some facts to justify its (apparently baseless) claim that, as McCain put it, "Sen. Obama's own advisers are saying that the crisis will benefit him politically."

They'll need to keep looking.

I think McCain's campaign is beginning to "impode" ..... They're trying to lie their way into the White House. And, I think the American people, have had ENOUGH after 8 years!

So, what if Obama held his fundraiser. This was an event already planned and besides he is going to need as much money as he can get because the 527's are coming after him In the local paper here in Dallas an article was written about one of the Simmions brothers was putting together a major ad against Obama. Spending millions of dollars to swiftboat him like they did Kerry. Even Boone Pickens was asked to participate and he declined... Good for him...

Probably because he knows that only Obama would give his Pickens Plan any consideration. It may not be perfect, but it an ATTEMPT.

The problem with the McSame camp is that they've now set themselves up for endless vetting. The Palin pick combined with a few obvious lies has everyone on 'Lie Watch'. The more lies he tells, the more he encourages EVERYONE to 'fact check' his every word. If he keeps this up, he's gonna implode because he doesn't have the temperment for endless vetting.

Although the Palin pick energized the fringe conservatives and made his convention look 100 times more exciting than it would have (particularly in comparison to the DNC convention) ... it was a tragic selection. IMO, he ended his chances with this selection. I sincerely believe that McCain's numbers would be better without this Palin distraction. She brings unnecessary baggage (scandal) to the ticket. And now he has to dedicate his campaign resources to managing her scandals. Terrible Terrible judgement.

Obama is doing the intelligent thing by meeting with the top economic people before jumping to a rash decision. The bailout probably had to be done to put a stop on the bleeding for now, but a long range plan needs some investigation. It is showing his good judgement. In contrast, McCain has been doing the "plan of the day" thing on the campaign trail, flip flopping on his statements. People need to realize that we don't need a rash President. This is how things could blow up, literally!

Mr. McCain is surely one big round baloon let loose in this financial crisis and swirling through the air in circles and truely out of control.

Yeah, this is all faux outrage and calling the kettle black, but that is the way it has been through this campaign. It just gets sillier and sillier or rather McCain is one silly man with silly handlers.

Even watching his hands waving about or his fist hitting the air its clear he's not even that great at playing the faux.

If John McCain is acting this way as a Presidential nominee...how would he act as President?? Everybody is WRONG...except him. We had that with George Bush.

http://www.johnmccain.com/Contact/ My request to Mccain - everyone should send him a request.

Sen McCain - when will release a repuduaition of the RNC lies? This should be done at once, you do not want to risk becoming known as a liar - do you?
