Sex And The City Sequel

Buried in FoxNews 411 today is news straight from the horse's mouth that a plan for a "Sex and the City: The Movie" sequel is movie ahead.

Michael Patrick King thought there would be sequels to "Sex and the City: the Movie."

Thursday night at the Public Library party for the DVD of the film, he and Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed it. He's off to write the next installment. Both SJP and Kim Cattrall told me they're excited to see what he comes up with.

At the same time, Candace Bushnell announced that she's writing a "prequel" to the ladies' lives, taking them maybe from teen through college years to the time they all met.

King told me, quipping, "I'm thinking of doing an animated version of them as babies."

SJP added, "Let's wring everything we can out of this thing!"

It didn't hurt that she was dressed and styled like a modern Audrey Hepburn, and that she worked the pink carpet full of media outside the Library like a pro. There just is not a more gracious movie or TV star around.

Meanwhile, Us reports from the party:

Sarah Jessica Parker tells Usmagazine.com that she and writer Michael Patrick King will "have that conversation sooner rather than later."

At Thursday's DVD party in NYC, she said, "It's all about the story. If we can't tell a story that's really worthy of an audience, then we won't do it.

"We've been really lucky at this point," she continued. "We've been in people's good graces for a long time, and we take that very seriously. So that's the biggest challenge, the story."

Cynthia Nixon told Us she has a few ideas for her character, feisty lawyer Miranda Hobbes.

"I would love to see her and Carrie and Charlotte and Samantha all go off on some wild mad cap adventure somewhere," she said.

Read about the prequel book "The Carrie Diaries."

Here are three of the ladies at the DVD launch party Thursday. Kristin Davis was in LA and couldn't attend:

I hope this one works as well as the series and the first movie. Sex and the City has afforded me much pleasure in its brilliant crafting and perfect vignettes.

Here's an idea: How bout having a white female play assistant to Oscar Winner / Golden Globe Winner Jennifer Hudson instead of having her act like a golf caddy to these lame 3 B-actresses that haven't been close to an individual award their entire careers? It's insulting.

Are you talking about the the same SATC that this article is about ??? I think you should probably make a pit stop at IMDB and see just how many awards these ladies have earned indivudually and as a series. SATC is one of the most critically acclaimed shows in history. I guarantee you SJP has won many more major awards than Jennifer Hudson has.

Considering that besides Jennifer, there were no new SATC major roles written into the movie, the inclusion of Jennifer was a touching tribute to African American fans of the series, an acknowledgment that there was a lack of diversity on the show that they wanted to address.

SJP isn't even on the same planet as Jennifer Hudson, puhhhhleeeeezzzeeee! A "touching tribute to African American fans" my a**!! You have JH practically playing as a subservient maid to 3 white women she can outperform (and out sing) any day, replete with the Hollywood standard obligatory white boyfriend???? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? What you mean is JH is a nice ethnic token so SATC doesn't look so WASPy (or JAPy in SJP's case). You really need to get your head checked and realize having a token African American in a film in a servile role with a white mate is one-step away from a white Southern plantation fantasy. This is not "Gone With the Wind".

Not close to individual awards?

Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon both won Emmys for their roles.

Kim Catrall has won a Golden Globe.

Sarah Jessica Parker has also won an individual SAG Award.

The SATC Ensemble won two SAG Awards.

This doesn't even go into the awards the other artisans and the show itself has one.

Perhaps being informed is wise before farting out of one's mouth.

And ALL of that is peanuts to Jennifer Hudson's Oscar. How old did all of them all had to be before they got those awards? Perhaps you should wipe that diarrhea off your lips and really get informed before you speak of farting from the mouth.

Im so excited. I just hope the movies as good as the first. Wouldnt want them to tarnish the shows legacy.
