Al Franken's Saturday Night Live Return: Franken Helps Write SNL's McCain Skit (VIDEO)

Saturday Night Live's opening skit knocked John McCain for running misleading ads about Barack Obama. As Politico reported earlier tonight (see below), Al Franken, a Democrat currently running for the Senate in Minnesota and a former SNL cast member, had a hand in crafting the skit. EARLIER Politico reports that Al Franken had a hand in writing tonight's Saturday Night Live skit about John McCain.

Al Franken, the former "Saturday Night Live" star now running in a high-profile Senate race in Minnesota, helped craft the opening sketch mocking John McCain that is slated to kick off the NBC comedy show tonight, according to two well-placed sources inside the network.

Franken, who hasn't been a staff writer on the show for 13 years, "phoned in" a spoof of McCain recording campaign ads in an edit booth, said an NBC source. Seth Meyers, the show's current head writer, wrote it, but the sketch was hatched by Franken, a longtime liberal satirist and comedian.

Late night TV favors Obama? What a surprise.

When I leave for my fourth tour, I will remember that. I only hope, since I voted before I left, that the Democrats will actually let my vote count this time. They challenged it itn2000 and 2004. Apparently, the military vote is not important to Democrats. In both years, the Democrats challenged alll military votes . Why?

It turns out my vote did not count the in 2000 and 2004. Why? They got there late because of some delay in the system. This time, I voted early. I believe the Dems will find some way to negate my vote because it was too early this time. Democrats do NOT want military votes to count in Florida because they know the votes are 90% Republican.

However, I think you are wrong about Democrats blocking military votes. (Members of the military actually are giving substantially more money to Obama than to McCain, and Obama has strongly advocated increased support to our veterans. The team leader in my local Dem office - in fact - is a veteran). I've heard a lot of Democrats complain about Republicans disenfranchising voters (i.e. not allowing people whose homes have been foreclosed to vote in Michigan). I, personally, don't think it is in anyone's interest to disenfranchise voters. This is a close election.

Although I'm an Obama supporter, I do hope your vote counts. Best wishes.

McSame did NOT support the new GI BILL that Senator Webb sponsored. (He did not even show up to vote). I suggest all veterans go and look at McSame's record when it comes to vets. It is NOT good.

Al Frankin may be a good writer but listening to him talk is brutal. He stutters and mumbles his words. The use of added verbiage such as, you know, but um, like and I mean is ponderous.
