LA Times:

Jerry McCutcheon went to Sarah Palin's office here last week to request information about the firing of former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, the scandal that for weeks has threatened to overshadow the governor's role as Republican presidential candidate John McCain's running mate.

McCutcheon was given a phone number in Virginia to call: the national headquarters of the McCain-Palin campaign.

...

In stubbornly independent Alaska, the sudden intrusion of a political campaign into so many corners of state government -- not to mention Wasilla, where a dozen or more campaign researchers and lawyers have also begun overseeing the release of any information about Palin's years as mayor -- has touched a raw nerve. McCain staffers have even been assigned to answer calls for Palin's family members, who have been instructed not to talk.

Tell me again why as taxpayer we are not privy to public records and how did they come up with that figure:

Cyr, who filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the documents was told it would cost $88,000 to fulfill his request. “That seems a little steep,” said Cyr, “and suspicious

Obama has been under scruitiny for as long as Palin has been governor of Alaska. But she can't speak to the media or put an end to troopergate. She has been in the spotlight less than two months, and is whining already. She has Mccain's campaign trying to bully their way through until November. If she can't stand the heat she needs to drop out. What else is she hiding? Common sense would make a knowledgeable voter ask more questions.

So much for states' rights!

The thing that seems like a TERRIBLE calculation to me as far as the Palin's response to the investigation is that the whole "scandal" was incomprehensible and boring when it first broke out... but now it's not. Seriously, when her star was first ascending, even a partisan Obama flack like myself looked at this so-called "Troopergate" thing and thought, "Damb, NOBODY'S gonna give a poop about that." And so they didn't.

Until the stonewalling. How easy would it have been for Todd Palin to have shown up at the hearing, sworn to tell the whole truth on the Bible, and then told the investigators that he did nothing wrong? Seems like much of this case is a lot of he-said, she-said, which should be easy to defuse simply by showing up and declaring that there's nothing to hide.

Instead, everyone in the country is asking, "What ARE the Palins trying to hide?" Because all of this yammering about "partisan witch hunts" could be shown to be true with a couple hours of testimony. Tell the truth, and prove the investigators are partisan witch hunters, and walk out with your head highl. Or, refuse to tell the truth on the basis of your suspicion that the investigators are partisan witch hunters, and make yourself look to the whole country like "I am not a crook" Nixon.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Dear Lord Republicans are stupid.

From the linked article, regarding the Palin's:

"They said their former brother-in-law had threatened the family, driven his patrol car after drinking alcohol and illegally shot a moose."

Excepting the moose part, sounds like any old state trooper to me.

Can Alaskan state ethics legislation be the reason why the Alaskan government has outsourced the answering of any questions about Sarah Palin's role as Governor of that state? In a CBSnews.com post, the writer states that:
"CBS News made several inquiries over the course of two days...A spokesperson at the governor's office in Juneau directed all inquiries to the McCain/Palin campaign. Told that the inquiry was related to Palin's role as the governor of Alaska - not as a vice presidential candidate - the spokesperson said that state ethics legislation required that all questions “fueled by the governor's candidacy” must be directed to the campaign." The link is: http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/21/politics/fromtheroad/entry4464116.shtml
Does anybody know what "state ethics legislation" is being referred to there?

Awww, poor witty bitty Alaskans, Sarah made them sad.

Time for some tough love: grow a spine. Throw Todd Palin's a$$ in jail for refusing to comply with a subpoena. That's what would happen to 'normal' Alaskans under these circumstance. Gutless whining won't change anything.

Will they impeach or recall her? I cannot imagine they are happy about this.

So? Big suprise. She sold out to the power hungry GOP. They've sold out rest of America for the last eight years. Welcome to the bandwagon.

"My fellow conservatives, remember how frustrating it was when Bill Clinton committed perjury and liberals looked the other way"

Did not take long for the Repug Party to bring up President Clinton's name to justify the actions of the B**ch from Alaska .... look for more "But, but , but ...Clinton" justificatiions.

I would not be a happy Alaskan with this.

Imagine they can do this to the whole nation. People are getting smarter and they go over internet blogging all over and McCain doesn't even have a clue. McCain thinks he can put Palin on so he can have Washington and the country under his finger tip continuing his supports to the wealthy oilmen and friends. Not any more. Obama/Biden will fix this.

If I were a Republican I would be Angry. What is wrong with McCain? How on earth could he be so stupid to choose a pair of shoes for his running mate when the office of vice president is just as important as his own potential office? Republicans should kick him out! Then tell Rove how you feel.

Bless your hearts!

McCain/Palin is for SUCKERS! Sorry people, no other way to put it. Take a look at them and ask the hard questions and the truth will come out.

Oh yeah and the Obama "that is above my paygrade" answers really let the voter know what he believes. He never (NEVER) votes when there is a controversal vote. Obama is not a leader.Hillary is aleader. McCain is a leader.
