Politico:
In a change from the original proposal sent to Capitol Hill, foreign-based banks with big U.S. operations could qualify for the Treasury Department's mortgage bailout, according to the fine print of an administration statement Saturday night.
The theory, according to a participant in the negotiations, is that if the goal is to solve a liquidity crisis, it makes no sense to exclude banks that do a lot of lending in the United States.

This is our October suprise. Over the last 8 years we have been surrendering our jobs, our homes and now our money. This is the last step in that is needed to put a fork in the middle class and our future. If we let our politicians get away with this we will only have ourselves to blame. We should not be talking about bailing out these large corporations with our money, but sending a lot of the people that got us here to jail for a very long time.

The strategy is the appropriation of unlimited monies with no strings to mendacious administrators whose thrist for power and wealth exceed any allegiance or oath to our Republic. The Congress better not act in haste. The Bush Bunch always acts in a crisis mode. This is the strategy of the political opportunists, demigogues and emerging dictatorship.
The wisest action at the present time is no action. Authority in the hands of incompetents, chronic liars, and self-interested decision makers is a receipe for national catastrophe.
There is no evidence that a trillion dollars will satisfy the wall street bunch. There is a lot of evidence that 8 trillion dollars would do the job. Of course a trillion dollars will finish the job of bankrupting our country.
An alternative is to let the system collapse now instead of later, then with foreign intervention and fire sale purchasing of our nation. Then spend a trillion of borrowed funds to rebuild our public and private enterprises and put our 15% percent of Americans back to work. Where are the leaders who support the common good? The rush to bail out the wealthy while destroying our currency is amazing.
