Bounds Gramm

For those of you who have developed a fondness for Tucker Bounds-themed bondage and domination videos, here's another YouTube where David Shuster chortles his way through a segment in which Bounds cannot or will not bring himself to assure the American people that Phil Gramm - who recently called America a "nation of whiners" but who led the effort for the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act that paved the way for the economic collapses of today - will not, under any circumstances, become Secretary of the Treasury in the McCain administration. If Bounds keeps at these sorts of "explanations," the world's supply of false equivalencies may run out by the first week of October.

I guess Americans who aren't Senators, Congressman or Representatives, who don't vote themselves raises each year, receive free healthcare at Walter Reed and receive pensions for life after just one term, can whine. Get these people out of office one by one. They've lived in the lap of luxury far too long.

Woe is us if McCain EVER gets his hands inside the white house. Phil Gramm is just another heartless repub money monger with the goal of making mo money, mo money, and mo money.

Bear in mind - Phil Gramm, author of the bill that deregulated the stock market to cause the subprime crisis that we are in now - using the powers that Paulson is demanding Congress surrender to him...unlimited, unfettered power to turn taxpayers money into debt and expand the national deficit...

These guys NEED to go to JAIL.

Gramm is a part of the "staff meeting" that Obama talks about. He will surely get a choice seat at McCain's kitchen cabinet meetings. Note that both played a twin critical role in the policies that led to S7L and the present crisis. Now that McCain and Co. are using Rezco against Obama, IT IS TIME for Obama campaign to remind Americans about McCain's role in S&L (Saving and Loans) scandal and “Keating Five.” The present financial crisis is fairly the result of the same type of attitude that led to the S&L scandal--and McCain played a big part in it.

Now isn't THAT "the foxes guarding the hen house!" The former-Senator who authored the legislation that gave us Enron, then buried it deep into a multi-thousand-page "spending bill," being given THIS post instead of an orange jumpsuit?!?!?!

I am a taxpayer and I think this should be placed to a national vote at the polls this November and when we all vote the Repbublicans out of office we can vote "NO" to this bailout as well. Why should we hold the burden of bailing out a company and CEO's that's made millions off of ripping people off and now we have to pay them to stay afloat. This is not right and someone needs to go to jail. What are the reasons for the rush all of a sudden? Something doesn't sit right with this and someone should be held accountable.

I say "NO" to any bailout except bailing out those who owe students loans and those who have been foreclosed on and have bad mortgages. The hell with Wall Street and the rich cronies of BUSH!

It's time for change in this country as in "We Must Change"

Phil Graham. How can one man single-handedly screw up an entire nation. He's a republican. That's the why and how. He hasn't faced justice for his crime. Come to think of it, none of them have paid a thing for their vandalism.

I fail to understand why the media still bothers to ask that guy a question. I have never seen him say anything that answers a question.

His only job is to divert attention.

He's afraid that if he answers a question in a way that John McCain doesn't approve then he'll be thrown under the bus with Ms. Fiorona. Tuck just can't stand the thought of being tossed under the bus with that harpy so it makes him babble like a looney.

The same can be said of all surrogates! And frankly, it happens on both sides. I don't understand why "news" shows get two people on - one from each campaign. We KNOW what they're going to say before they say it. They perpetuate talking points and misinformation, but then the anchors never call them out when they don't tell the truth. No wonder the electorate is confused and messed up. We need independent analysts who can address positions, outcomes of policies, etc. There's no independent thought or analysis on these shows. Tucker Bounds is a symptom of a greater problem that I believe is ruining our country. (Check that: HAS ruined.)

Well, duhhh, it's b/c Gramm's going to be the Sec of Treas and everybody knows it, and the MSM is "in" on the joke, too -- they just "pretend" they don't, to promote drama and sell more Viagra and Nutrisystem shiit.

The script's been written -- they just read the talking points.

Look, the Big Boys are going to paid back with cushy appointments, just like always. If anyone thinks otherwise, I've got a bridge in Alaska to sell you, as Obama says.

McC already said Gramm would not be treasurer. This is a non-issue but that is all anyone wants to talk about in this campaign. It is just so disheartening.

Nope. It's still an issue and it is NOT the only thing anyone wants to talk about in this campaign.

Why does Phil Gramm hate America? Is it because we are a nation of whiners?

He sees our Treasury as an overly plump financial pig just ready for the slaughter. The neo-con plan is still as it always has been, to completely empty the US Treasury so there is no money for social programs, just low incoming tax revenues enough to support the Pentagon war machine and little to nothing else. They've said it again and again. They've written about it. Grover Norquist summed it all up when he said he wanted to shrink government so small it could be drowned in a bathtub. This is their plan, the complete destruction of FDR's "New Deal" and their plan, which is close to realization, will become known to the average American as the "Raw Deal". Don't let it happen! No How, No Way, No McCain/Palin/Gramm!

I would really like to see Grover Norquist living in a land of no government. Let him call 911 and nobody comes. Let him take his own garbage to the dump and build his own sewer system for clean drinking water.

It is so ironic that the conservative philosophy of no regulation has led us to a place where we must nationalize almost the entire financial sector of the economy. Then, as you say, they will say there is no money left for social security or Medicare.

Bush governs by crisis. Then he slips undemocratic caveats into major emergency legislation such that the legislation creates an entity with powers that are not reviewable by the courts.

Republicans basically do not understand democracy. They will use this crisis to insist we dismantle any and all entitlement programs. Meanwhile, they want to go to war against almost everyone.

Tucker must be a popular name with Republican parents who don't teach children to think critically.
