McCain Campaign Can't...Won't...Rule Out Gramm As Treasury Secretary

For those of you who have developed a fondness for Tucker Bounds-themed bondage and domination videos, here's another YouTube where David Shuster chortles his way through a segment in which Bounds cannot or will not bring himself to assure the American people that Phil Gramm - who recently called America a "nation of whiners" but who led the effort for the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act that paved the way for the economic collapses of today - will not, under any circumstances, become Secretary of the Treasury in the McCain administration. If Bounds keeps at these sorts of "explanations," the world's supply of false equivalencies may run out by the first week of October.

How many of these interviews end with the questioner laughing at Tucker? It's a bad sign when nobody can take your campaign manager seriously in any TV appearance they make. It kind of reminds me of Terry McAuliffe during the last two days of Hillary's claimed campaign viability wearing a Hawaiian shirt and waving a bottle of rum during interviews.

The Washington Post graph looks informative enough until the last line, when they do something utterly extraordinary, and as assume knowingly deceitful. The last line purports to show the "average" tax cut for each proposal - but in fact averages the tax cuts by category, which is completely meaningless. In fact the graph has an annotation stating that the bottom three categories account for 60% of tax payers. Just roughly using the graph's own percentages, and assuming equal distribution where not stated, the actual averages are closer to the following:

McCain
(60% * -0.5) + (39% * -3) + (1% * -3.4) = -1.5%

Obama
(60% * -3.6) + (39% * -1.5) + (1% * + 8.7%) = -2.76%

In short, the average US taxpayer will see almost twice the tax cuts under the Obama plan.

He always tries to drown out the interviewer with strict adherence to McCain talking points, which is his obvious effort NOT to answer the questions. Why do they even bring him on these shows? Remember the recent fiasco of an interview with Campbell Brown? OMG!

Make sure to read the Washington Post's article about Todd Palin. There is a line there that doesn't square with their per diem claim that Juneau is Palin's home base; "Among the listed purposes for his trips were meetings about mansion renovations; the Palins wanted to make the house suitable for family visits, although they opted not to live there full time."
