Now that Sarah Palin and the McCain campaign have finally decided to stop telling the "Bridge To Nowhere" lie, Alaska's "Road To Nowhere" -- built while Sarah Palin was governor -- may become an issue, as CNN's Campbell Brown and Abbie Boudreau report.

The "Road To Nowhere" is a 3 mile long stretch of road leading to where the bridge would have been had Congress not killed funding for it in 2005. The price tag for the road? $26 million dollars. And nobody uses it.

Here's video of CNN's report:

CNN promises more extensive coverage to come on Tuesday.

Okay, question.

Call me stoopid, but didn't the McCain/Palin spokesperson say that she HAD to go through with building the bridge because the earmark was already approved for the road? Something's wrong with that story, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out...

First, why would you approve an earmark for a ROAD but not a BRIDGE? Second, you can't tell me that legally, if she told them "Hey, don't build the bridge" that the weren't going to stop. Third, if the $223 million is there for other projects, why dip into it to build the road?

HMM...

LIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR!!!

Maybe the highway contractors were campaign contributors. No one knows how that works better than us Kentuckians.

Has she stopped telling the lie?

I'll bet a million bucks she starts using that line again. Lie or not, she has no new material to use instead!

Campbell should invite Tyler Bounds to rebut. I'd love to watch her eat his lunch again.

That's very clever, Tomas. However, did it occur to you that the road may well play a significant role in Operation Rapture?

No, of course not.

I am going to write an email to CNN and let them know that I appreciate the fact that they are finally doing their journalistic job.

Obviously, CNN must be "in the tank" for Obama, along with the NYT and, um... facts.

Here is a useful resource related to Gov. Sarah Palin - the most comprehensive page of information on her record available on the Net. It includes videos of her saying her proposed $30 billion natural gas pipeline is the "will of God," her saying a month ago she doesn"t know what the VP of the U.S. does, and her complaining four months ago that Hillary Clinton was whining about "sexist" coverage -

http://dailysource.org/palin

It has in-depth research, audio clips, videos, excerpts and links to hundreds of articles, including many from papers and TV stations in Alaska. It has rare footage, including her telling the 2008 convention of the Alaska Independence Party, whose goal is to give Alaska a vote on seceding from the U.S. to "keep up the good work."

The level of research is unparalleled. The site"s editors include an Emmy-award winning CNN reporter, the former operating editor of the Christian Science Monitor"s web site, the former head of NPRs News Blog and the Executive Director of the Online News Association. Check it out here -

Please spread the word about this Palin info to anyone who might want to know more.

I guess it is also the 'word of God' that we bail out the GAMBLERs on Wall Street instead of taking care of the taxpayers.

This bailout is just another tax cut for the rich!!! They are not talking about the finances of the 60% with incomes 60,000 or less who are having a hard time, taking care of their families and paying for the housing....

I found a link to this source elsewhere, and I must say it's been very helpful in developing our Paliban website. At dailysource, I found hard news reports of Palin's positions on abortion, sex "education", Creationism, rape kits, the God's Will Natural Gas Pipeline, and more. We even used information from the site to put together our exclusive Paliban page on Operation Rapture!

Really, dailysource a great resource. I don't really care who the editors are (and to be honest, your post sounds more like an advertisement), but simply collecting the information all in one place is very useful for those of us who are fans of Sarah Palin and her progressive, pro-Christian Reconstruction policies.

McCain and Palin have been vetted each and every day by Americans. They see them in action, hear their words, know they lie.

Still they line up to say to pollsters to the tune of 45% that they will vote for McCain/Palin. Just like 30% of Americans state that Bush is doing a good job.

Please advise all Americans where the Kool-Aid is served so that we can avoid it in the future.

Kudos CNN. I knew you guys would get to the bottome of the mess since McCain left the vetting of his VP candidate to the press - and then attacked the press for trying to vet her. Don't back down! We need you! I have been following all of this stuff through Ed Scultz radio and Huff Post - so glad to see it publicized on a network with a good reputation.

It would be an appropriate song for the repubs to play at rallies, too.

unfortunately for Palin/McCain, I'm sure that the Talking Heads would also line up to request that the campaign stop using their song...

maybe O'Biden can use it in an ad....

Palin also stated that if Alaskans had wanted that bridge to no where, they could have built it themselves without money from Washington. If that is so, then why did she keep the money. The Federal treasury could use every cent possible at this time!

A dead-end cul-de-sac just like the McCain/Palin dead-end economic and social path they want to lead us down.

Since Palin is a hockey mom, how about using the $26 million road as a warm weather Asphalt Hockey rink with the one goal at the end of the cul-de-sac? That should keep those Alaskan kids out of trouble.

I could not think of a summer use of the road for 1st Dude"s Snow Machine, though.

Congratulations CNN! I knew you could do it Campbell! Tonight you showed real reporting and you were first! Keep the truth coming and - congrats to the reporter in Alaska

I agree! I am happy that Campbell to the bull by the horn and ran with it. I sent her an email congratulating her on the Tucker Bounds interview. Everyone appeared afraid to ask questions about Sarah Palin. Campbell Brown did! I look forward to more reporting from her. The McCain campaign has frightened everyone else that's not friendly towards Sarah. Everyone else has been scrutinized, why not Sarah Palin? Sarah Palin tried to get special treatment because she is a woman. Well, some women, like Campbel Brown, said uh, uh. You want to run with the big boys, you will get the same treatment.
