Silicon Alley Insider:

Steve Demeter developed the iPhone puzzle game Trism as a side project, but now he's quitting his day job. Why? Because he says he's generated $250,000 in profits since he started selling the $4.99 game on iTunes this summer. That's after Apple (AAPL) has taken its 30% cut of total sales, and after subtracting his initial investment of about $5,000.

So while we've heard plenty of griping from developers who complain about Apple's restrictive grip on its store, you're certainly not going to hear Steve joining that chorus. In fact, he says, he's so pleased with Apple, that he's going to work exclusively with them, and will pass on the chance to work on other platforms, like Google's Android.

Steve Jobs is an example of a CEO that deserves $120 million parachute.

Interesting how he and the CTO of Pandora, both responsible for absolutely brilliant iPhone apps, share similar sentiments toward Android. Also interesting that I'd already been using Trism as an example when explaining why developers might be wary about Android. It seems my argument has gotten even stronger.

Listening to the radio DJs this morning, whining and bleating on how Americans only play games as one reason why we're on the BRINK of COLLAPSE.

Of course, most people in radio have the IQ of liquid nitrogen... FWIW, capitalism is about making a product for others to use... and not, like my Libertarian coworker likes to think, stealing money from others (while griping about perceived injustices)...

Now that's awesome.
Apple not only made a great device, but also a way for individuals to make some decent money selling apps.

They're just games and Americans have gotten obese and indolent by only playing games.

Mind you, thanks to offshoring, more Americans have ample opportunities for all 3 of those... :silly:

BTW, I was being sarcastic, but whatever. Since when are discussion forums meant to be TOO serious?

And yet Apple is so stingy on its desktop OS (which borrowed a bit of open source software too, never mind it's the same sort of off-the-shelf Intel hardware that ensured IBM lost its suit against Compaq when they cloned the PC in 1981...)

I'll stick with Windows Mobile, thanks all the same. There are political and environmental reasons why I'd stick with Microsoft anyway... Time to get Visual Studio was well...

MS=Green? Are you joking?

While I certainly applaud Bill Gates (and his wife Melinda) for their philanthropic efforts which are astounding, I would hardly refer to MS as a Green corporation. As for MS Mobile, get a life. Just as their OS is bloated and crash prone, so is their Mobile OS.

Jobs and his company may be ultra sensitive to criticism, but they absolutely react to their base when complaints exist, as in MobileMe, iPhone 3G and other incredibly stupid blunders. Vista is still a joke and Deepak Chopra notwithstanding, MS has hardly fixed it. In fact they now are offering, for an additional cost, the previous iteration of their OS. Have you ever heard of a company offering their discontinued software for a premium?

MS is dying. And, in my opinion, they deserve to buried quietly. Sans fanfare.

I've had good luck with Windows Mobile since 2003 Release 2 (back when it was called PocketPC). It's more about application quality, but I'll agree WM5 and WM6 are far more reliable, and again I may be unique in having so few problems with PPC2003R2...

Sorry to give the incorrect allusion. MS may or may not be green, but that wasn't my point. Apple has a horrendous history of being almost anti-green and given who's been on their board since April 2003, nobody should be putting him, or that company that ONLY responds when everyone moans because they're otherwise not going to bother, on a pedestal.

FWIW, I agree. Perhaps I'm stupid enough to stick with Microsoft, but congrats to this guy for making a game people want. That is the brighter side OF capitalism at work. I just think people are naive when buying into Crapple...

Who is it whom you would like to see bankrupt?

Your comment is senseless.
