The Washington Post is keeping tabs on how long John McCain and Sarah Palin are maintaining their "media blackout," and the days are starting to pile up:

As of this writing, it has been 39 days and 22 hours since Sen. John McCain last held a news conference (despite having promised to hold weekly Q&A sessions with the press if he's elected). According to the Democrats, it's been 24 days and 11 hours since his running mate, Sarah Palin, held one.

During a campaign appearance today, it seemed as if Sarah Palin had let down her guard. "I want to ask you a few questions, Media," she said. Alas, she was referring to her audience in Media, Pennsylvania.

ABC's Jake Tapper notes:

No, no change here. The woman seeking to be to a heartbeat away from the presidency without ever holding a press conference remains on the same relatively unaccountable path.

McCain-Palin campaign officials apparently feel the American people should trust her with the button and the world's financial markets without ever taking questions from reporters.

Here's video of Palin:

What a day when Ahmedinijad will answer reporters' questions and John McCain and Sarah Palin won't? In one day, Ahmedinajad (despicable, hateful, unreasonable extremist) will exceed the one 15 minute press conference McCain has had in 6 weeks. I don't even know what to make of that.

The press has kind of started to revolt. When do the American people start to revolt? The press needs to report on this unprecedented lack of access.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV-R), the diagnostic classification system used in the United States, as "a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and a lack of empathy."[1]

2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique
4. requires excessive admiration
5. has a sense of entitlement
6. is interpersonally exploitative
7. lacks empathy
8. is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

If the media continue to allow this side show to dictate to them when and how their going to have a interview, the media should be (SHAME) of themselfs. The media or the right wing neo-cons didn't give a rats a$$ when it come to Obama, they dogged Obama coming and going on every issue you can think of, from Rev. Wright to saying lipstick on a pig, now those same racist idiots on the right wing nuts are accusing everyone who ask a question to Palin, its sexist, or their being mean to her, PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!. Come on America its clear whats going on here, she doesn't know anything and we're allowing this camp to get away with shielding her. I SAY BOYCOTT MCSAME/PALIN campaign!!!!!!!. Then when the media boycotts them the right wing neo-cons would say, the media is in the tank for OBAMA

If you aren't saying anything, you aren't saying anything that can hurt you . And these two have no idea what the heck is going on. The handlers have them just reading the cue cards. They are walking zombies.Look at Cindy's eyes. Does that look like a real person behind those eyes?

McCain/Palin know that the poll numbers are going down now that the lies aren't working anymore; newness has worn off Palin; Troopergate keeps rearing its ugly head. and the economy has tanked. They haven't got much to offer the media. How many more times can they say:
"We are going to clean up Washington;
Pork barrell spending has got to stop;
Washington has got to get its act together;
This has got to stop (fist);
I guarantee you we will work for you;
If you elect Palin & McCain...."

McCain or Palin appearing on a right wing show or being interviewed by a softball pitcher is not a "News Conference".
A news conference involves reporters asking questions and the candidates answering. So far we have had a number of right wing propaganda shows but nothing honest or challenging in any of them.
I have never seen such a collection of sniveling weasels masquerading as candidates in my life.
This is a new low in politics.

Why should they? Do you think the bias media is really going to accurately report/show the interview, or would it be the typical sound byte that would portray a one sided opinion. Maybe that is why she was on O"Reilly, however most viewers here don"t consider that a reliable news source either. ABC is just upset they are not getting the interview and ratings. It"s all about money in the end.
A bigger question is why Obama refused the town hall meetings with McCain? Was he afraid that he wouldn"t be able to use his rehearsed speeches? Or that he really has nothing to say¦¦¦¦¦¦.

You know what those town hall meetings are ... a selected bunch of people who have been field dressed ... kinda like the Rick Warren civil forum. McCain wants to pick the time, date, place and audience. He acts like he owns Washington. Palin probably thought she owned Alaska and that is why she was chosen as VP. I wonder which one of them is giving advice.

You are an idiot!! Do you understand what is going on? The candidate we elect will have to deal with a world of problems don't you think it is your right to know their views and positions on world matters? Don't walk around with blinders on. This financial crisis is so familiar for McSame since he was involved with the Keating 5 scandal. Please read up on this be informed and make a well thought out decision when you vote.

McCain and Palin should take questions from the press because that is the only way the public has of finding out their positions on various issues that affect the health and safety of our Nation.
Obama didn't accept McCain's offer to have 10 town hall meetings because it would have been stupid to allow McCain to dictate his schedule. However, Obama did respond that he was willing to do three (3) town hall meetings. But the McCain Campaign never answered, preferring to use the mantra that "Obama would not do town hall meetings with me and that is why I am lying on him and distorting his record"!
If you use the slightest bit of reason, it should be clear to you that Obama is vastly more intelligent and skilled than John McCain (please see their educational and congressional records)! John McCain reads everthing he says, word for word. How can you ascribe any intelligence to that? Whenever McCain has strayed from his cards, he has made some horribly stupid comment to which McCain's campaign comes back to attach a totally different meaning than what McCain said. I think you need to do a reality check when it comes to assessing Obama's performance in this campaign.

McCain's Town Meetings are a sham. They have been making tickets available to Republicans only. Obama is no idiot.

Further, to make a VP candidate unavailable to the press, and thus the public, makes you think they have something to hide. This isn't a coronation; it's an election. Funny (NOT) how the Repubs want us fighting for democracy, but are not willing to unhold the democratic process. I guess that's why Democrats are called Demcrats!

right and McCain is not looking down on his script everytime he speaks at a "TOWN HALL"meeting, palin on her teleprompters that by the way when out on her once, and she just looks s Tupid by talking on her own. Yes I agree it is about ratings with the media, but if you have no dirt, then you would not have to be afraid.

Joe Biden's denunciation of his own campaign's ad to Katie Couric got so much attention last night that another odd note in the interview slipped by.

He was speaking about the role of the White House in a financial crisis.

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed," Biden told Couric. "He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"

As Reason's Jesse Walker footnotes it: "And if you owned an experimental TV set in 1929, you would have seen him. And you would have said to yourself, 'Who is that guy? What happened to President Hoover?'"

Is Biden lying?

I do not think so. I just think he's horribly confused and ignorant of history.
