In recent days, John McCain has made a series of verbal gaffes that have undercut his campaign claim that he is the candidate who is ready to safeguard the nation's struggling economy, some political analysts believe.

The verbal stumbles may have wider ramifications for the GOP presidential pick by reminding voters of earlier flubs and calling into question other aspects of his candidacy, including his foreign policy experience, analysts told ABCNews.com.

Not keeping facts straight, putting out untrue garbage in ads against your opponent, will NOT hide your voting record of the last decades, no matter how much bluster it's done with. You've backed the wrong horse(s) and it's coming back to haunt you and your campaign, Mr. McCain. Trying to distance yourself from Bush and lobbyists NOW and switching from your experience mantra, to one of change, just before the election doesn't work .

The New World Order, wants to take your job, put you on a debt consumption diet, so you service even more interest, personally and nationally.

Debt = slavery.

Let this be a producer led recovery. Keep you purse strings tight.

More lies and deception from you GOP.

Obama is truthfully pointing out the real costs of this bailout and GOP economical disaster.

Actually, he should have been saying this from the beginning as the bailout is nothing compared to the money we are spending on wars but the taxpayer isn't paying for.

Ok "Pronto",

which sounds more like the adult:

After the economy goes kablooie and $700 billion is about to be poured into rescuing the financial system, Obama says "I may have to adjust what my plans based on this information"

Or

McCain says he'll still keep the tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%?

This is a parting shot from Bush, a final middle finger in the air to middle class America, & a great big thankyou to all his uber rich buddies. He's setting US up for the big fall & the plan is to let Obama take the fall for it. Obama is simply explaining in advance the hand he is being dealt if this rheem job goes through. That's called being straight up with the American people... How convenient that in one stroke of the pen all discretionary spending could be wiped out. Talk about a conservatives wet dream...

It is good to see Sen Tim Johnson (D) SD doing well ! He is now sitting at this hearing and saying that this package should include more than executive bailouts!

Question - the reason for the haste of the decision on the bailout is partially due to the recess that will be called at the end of the week so that everyone can go campaign correct? Is there any reason why the Senators that aren't up this year can't stay in DC and pluck away at this - and have everyone come back when there is something acceptable to everyone to vote on?

We could have a tr*ll day here. On that day, each one of us takes a tr*ll under his wing. (I know. But it might build character in us to suffer like that.) Each poster has one hour to reform it, to reform the tr*ll I mean.

No. Because I am not experienced enough yet. You would require someone with greater skill than I have (or will ever have). A Thunder or a Hume or a Stark or...but you don't want this next, trust me...a Volvo.

Tell that to the companies and corporations that have been sued for a g e i s m. I'm sure they'll be comforted and will be pleased to have their settlement payouts refunded to them.

That is a book with nothing specific. Age does not fall into the same catagory as race and gender. There are jobs for which someone can be too old or too young. That has been established legally.
Questioning Jmacs ability due to his age and life experience just makes good sense, it is not a form of ageism. Admittedly there is only a minimum age requirement for the presidency so legally he is qualified. Mentally qualified? Another story.

Pronto fails to recognize (apparently) that "evidence" is critical !! Any "employer" has the right to expect a hire to perform!! Mc has publicly demonstrated his frail cognitive abilities ... a must for POTUS ... wouldn't ya think! After all he is asking the nation to hire him!!!

Pronto .. please !!! A winning age discrimination case would need solid "evidence" ... that being that those aged were able to do the work and were terminated nevertheless!!

We see Mc not able to pull his own conitive abilities forth ... we won't even speak of his cancer watch and all that entails!!! Any "employer" has the right to "expect" a hire to perform, can we "expect" Mc to perform ... not really, not from his heretofore feeble performances !!!

There is age discrimination.

This campaign is not an example of it.

McMaverick's age is a legitimate concern because of the demands of the job.

Here is the justification for The Plan:

If the plan works, it will attack the central cause of American economic distress: the continued plunge in housing prices. If banks resumed lending more liberally, mortgages would become more readily available. That would give more people the wherewithal to buy homes, lifting housing prices or at least preventing them from falling further. This would prevent more mortgage-linked investments from going bad, further easing the strain on banks. As a result, the current downward spiral would end and start heading up.
Sorry, if houses are overpriced because of the bubble, then they are overpriced. This idea that people are not buying houses that cost $300, $400, $500, $600,000 because banks can't lend them the money is just preposterous! Even if a bank can lend the money, they can't lend the money because TOO FEW PEOPLE MAKE ENOUGH TO QUALIFY.

The idea that you can stop housing prices from falling back to where they should be is like the idea that you could have stopped the stock of golfballs.com from falling after the dot com bubble. I worked at a company where the stock went up to $35 a share for no reason, and then after the crash the stock went back to WHAT IT WAS WORTH: five cents a share.

You CAN'T prop up the price of house ABOVE WHAT THEY ARE WORTH. This is why the bailout plan can not work.

In moments the Senate Banking Committee will convene there public hearing on this economic "extortion" of taxpayer bailout !!! That would be the actual committee who oversees such financial exchanges!!!
