Barack Obama is out with a new ad Monday morning, eviscerating John McCain for an article he recently wrote calling for the health care industry to have as much regulatory freedom as its banking counterpart.

"We've seen what Bush-McCain policies have done to our economy," goes the script. "Now John McCain wants to do the same to our health care. McCain just published an article praising Wall Street deregulation... Said he'd reduce oversight of the health insurance industry too... Just 'as we have done over the last decade in banking'...Increasing costs and threatening coverage. A prescription for disaster."

The spot, titled "Article" was expected. Ever since McCain's article from the September/October edition of Contingencies Magazine was first re-posted by New York Times columnist Paul Krugman on Friday, Democrats have been chomping at the bits to ram it down McCain's throat. After all, what better way to deflate the idea that the Republican nominee, after years of pursuing deregulatory policies, all the sudden was a champion of government oversight? Or, for that matter, what better way to drive home the notion that McCain would put one's health care - not to mention Social Security - at play in a clearly erratic market.

As such, Obama had been bringing up the Contingencies piece while on the stump. The ad, which will air on cable starting Monday, is the next effort to keep the article in the national conversation.

Bleach and peroxide over time can have a devastating effect on women's brain. Especially in the south where there are more blonds than in Sweden or Scandinavia. This could easily explain why voting against one's own best interest for some superficial reason is so common in certain parts of America. Or, are they all bipolar? That's usually the stated excuse for their dysfunctional behavior.

According to MSNBC's latest pool, Obama can't win because white women are more racist than any other demographic. I don't believe that and I have come to the conclusion that MSN has a way of keeping this idea afloat for their own best interest. I can't understand why women would vote for McCain who has never championed any issues which impact their lives in a positive way just because Obama won in the primary. If they were democrats then, are they not democrats now. It would be a terrible thing if Blacks were to stop doing any kind of business with White women as a result of the projected view of MSM pundits who perhaps are themselves filled with racial hatred. Either it's the "white working class, the uneducated whites, white women, white men of a certain age or white southerners. " WHY DON'T THEY JUST SAY WHITE PEOPLE WON'T VOTE FOR A BLACK MAN! Are they sending a call to arms for the conservative agenda of white only and always? We'll see!

To Just2stressed: no need to say why - anyone with any common sense or willingness to be honest with themselves knows that if Barack Obama was white this election will be a land slide - most people agree with the issues Senator Obama stands for but are too afraid to vote for a black man, I have even had a few white co-workers admit that they are secretly voting for him, how stupid but that's where we're at even in 2008 - we prefer to choose a POW (whose medical records have not been revealed) a man who is extremely irrational and have no clue about the current economy and who has picked (not in the interest of the country) an even less educated VP on the economy not to mention foreign affairs but also lets not forget she can see Russia from her backyard - Oh yeah!!!!!!!!! You think the economy is a mess now!!!

I'm hoping for a reverse Bradley Effect. Once in the booth, common sense will prevail.

Because he's white. Or more importantly, he's not black.

Too many whites are willing to vote for McCain rather than Obama, simply because McCain is white, and they will not vote for a black person. As an African American female, I am sadden but not surprised by the revelation. I was wondering when would the media stop pretending that race doesn't matter. Unfortunately, in this country for some whites race does matter. These very whites are willing to vote for more unemployment, no health care for them or their families, high fuel cost etc. In other words they are willing to vote based on their prejudice and racism rather than the best interest of our country and their families. I say you get what you deserve. McCain appears to be showing slight signs of demetia already, if elected there is a possibility he may not serve the 4 years, Palin would become president. They are willing to take a chance on Palin vs. Obama/Biden. Sad commentary for our country. Keep voting based on racist views, while America crash and burn. Dow is currently 378 points, oil up $20 dollars, think about how you don't want a black man as president, when you sit in your cold homes this winter because you cannot afford oil or gas for your homes. Some people in this country are very, very sad. As far as we have come, we have a long way to go.

Neither can I. I just can't imagine anyone in their right mind, voting for this guy. He clearly doesn't have a grasp for our economy. Let alone, the health care system.

WHO WOULD WANT TO BE PRESIDENT? THERES NO WAY OBAMA WOULD GET ANYTHING ACCOMPLISHED AFTER BEING ELECTED BECAUSE OF THIS ECONOMIC MESS. OSAMA BIN LADEN WAS RIGHT ,HE BANKRUPTED OUR ECONOMY ,WHILE THE REPUBLICANS EXPLOITED IT FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL FORTUNE. THE UNITED STATES WILL CEASE TO EXIST AS WE VE KNOWN IT .

The biggest stumbling block to McCain winning the presidency is John McCain. His statements from the past and even from the present are biting him in the a**.

Greed is what makes Capitalism works. There just needs to be regulations so that same greed doesn't get out of hand like it has in the past few years.

In addition to the shared urgency of purpose in electing Barack Obama as President we must elect a 60-40 Democratic Senate majority.

As our financial institutions crumble around us, the Bush Administration, managed by the most extreme adherents of Market Fundamentalism since Hoover, has proposed a bailout amounting to nearly $1 Trillion in institutionalized Socialism. Having destroyed the foundation of our economy this Administration is now intent on billing the American taxpayer.

The irony is that over the last 2 Senate sessions the minority Republicans have set records in the number of partisan filibusters blocking much needed legislation...including financial regulation which may have mitigated our current economic crisis. Over 130 filibusters in 2 years!

A 60-40 majority in the Senate allows the Democrats to legally quash obstructionist filibusters and get our representatives back to work solving the extremely serious problems currently facing our nation.

I urge you to add your voice and your financial contributions to the following Senate campaigns where strong Democrats are facing vulnerable Republicans:
- Alaska: Mark Begich (http://www.begich.com)
- Colorado: Mark Udall (http://www.markudall.com)
- Idaho: Larry LaRocco (http://www.laroccoforsenate.com)
- Louisiana: Mary Landrieu (http://www.marylandrieu.com)
- Minnesota: Al Franken (http://www.alfranken.com)
- Mississippi: Ronnie Musgrove (http://musgroveforsenate.net)
- Nebraska: Scott Kleeb (http://www.scottkleeb.com)
- New Hampshire: Jeanne Shaheen (http://www.jeanneshaheen.org)
- New Mexico: Tom Udall (http://www.tomudall.com)

What ever !!!!!!! Why are there no congressional investigation B. Mac, F. May? Because Dems are in charge and investigations would come back and bite them in the ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Barny Frank, Chris dud should resign now. Both Bush and McCain call for more over sight but shot down by crooked dems. Pray the dems don't get the pres & 60-40 there needs at least speed bump to slow the roll towards socialism. No there should be bailout

you rail against socialism, then say there SHOULD be a bailout, which is um...SOCIALISM! (govt owning/controlling business)

the fact that the congress has been GOP controlled for 16/18 years also negates any point you would hope you could make in this arguement.

the bell tolls for thee...GOP

Bush and McSame calling for more oversight? Bull! Read the pub proposal - Paulson wants a totally free hand, not only free of congressional oversight, but of any judicial oversight as well and Bush is right there saying "hurry up and pass it, no time to read it".

I cannot believe that Republicans are now blaming the Democrats for the mess we are in. We have a president who told everyone to go out and buy after 9/11; we have a president who said he wanted everyone to own a home; we have a Reublican candidate who, until recently, was a champion of de-regulation and who had as his major economic advisor, Phil Gramm ,who is responsible more than anyone else for the de-regulation of financial institutions; and we have a Republican candidate who has sat on the commerce committee for years; and we have a Republican candidate who wants to continue spending billions of dollars in Iraq until we can say we won. Please, there is a lot of blame to go around but we do not need people who put their party's candidate before their country. Osama Bin Laden said he would destroy us economically. Right now, I do not fear terrorists who would destroy us physically; I fear those terrorists who are so tied to their candidate that they would divide us and destroy us from within. The economy IS OUR NATIONAL SECURITY. AMERICA--IT IS TIME TO WAKE UP!!
