Biden Off Message Again: "We're Not Supporting Clean Coal"

At a campaign stop today in Maumee, OH, Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) talked to Carolyn Auwaerter, a young 1Sky campaigner, about energy policy. Questioned about his campaign's support for "clean coal," Biden vigorously defended his record in favor of renewable energy, and outlined what he sees as the key challenge: developing carbon capture and sequestration technology (which he calls "clean coal") to limit the pollution from China's rapidly increasing fleet of coal plants. In his words, captured on video by the Energy Action Coalition:

No coal plants here in America. Build them, if they're going to build them over there make 'em clean because they're killing you.

Biden also claimed, "We're not supporting 'clean coal.'" In fact, "clean coal" is a major part of Sen. Obama's energy plan and public rhetoric, calling for the development and deployment of "clean coal technology" as part of his green jobs initiative.

BIDEN IS GOING TO THROW THE VP DEBATE. He cannot be trusted. Everyone is saying how he's gonna eat her up? uhh, uhhh. . . I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't try to defend Palin against the media at their debate. He'll attack the media for being too hard on her. He has a misplaced sense of chivalry that dictates being a sucker for a woman's whims in any situation. WATCH. Biden will not attack Palin at the debate directly. But he will throw out some carefully worded criticisms of McCain.

He actually is in a no win situation. If he eats her up it will be an old white guy being mean to a woman and if she eats him up it will be pathetic. If he is seen to win the debate he should have because he has all of the experience.

It reminds me of the celebrity boxing matches a few years back. Joey Buttafucco had to fight the female wrestler China. That was a no win situation. If you beat up a woman, you look bad. If you lose, you look lame. Poor Joe is one gaffe away from being the next Thomas Eagleton.

Whew, boy, man, are we sure lucky that we don't have someone as sensible as Hillary Clinton as VP. I mean, she'd probably stay on message at like EVERY campaign event. She'd know what she was supposed to say, would know what positions Obama supports, and she wouldn't talk about stuff that directly opposite of what Obama is saying. I mean, who needs that, right? That would be all kinds of trouble, that coordination between the P and VP. Dang, I am sure so glad that we didn't make the mistake of picking someone well-spoken, smart, and savvy to be the "attack dog" of the Democratic Party.
