Chris Rock Disses Bill Clinton For Tepid Obama Support

I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Chrisrock

If you happened to catch The View this afternoon, you likely marveled at Bill Clinton's ability to call the 2008 election for Barack Obama without actually suggesting that Obama, as a candidate, had any particular quality that would enable the win, which would instead come about through a confluence of happy electoral accidents. The former president, let us say, is nothing if not consistent in his sense of party loyalty, where party=the party in his pants.

Apparently, Bill Clinton managed to be even more of an undermining douche coy about his support for the Democratic nominee on tonight's iteration of The Late Show With David Letterman, because something inspired his fellow guest, comedian Chris Rock, to remark, "Boy, is it me or he didn't want to say the name Barack Obama?" From there, Rock went into a lengthy harangue about Hillary Clinton ("I love Hillary, but she lost...The Patriots got a lot of points, too, but they lost"), before finally referring to Sarah Palin's Alaska as "Road Warrior with snow."

Looks like someone's not going to be playing any Clinton Global Initiative benefits anytime soon!

It's obvious that Clinton wants to run again in 2012. The Clintons figure they have a better chance of defeating a McCain/Palin ticket than a Obama/Biden one.

Umm Okay. and what has chris rock done for obama..Did he made a speech in the convention? Has he had a major rally for Obama in any battleground state?...yeha no...so why doent he shut up with his stupid self and get back to what he is good at...Comedy...Anyways...Bill and Hillary could of done the same think Ted Kennedy did in 1980 when he and Jimmy Carter where rivals for the nomination...(give a speech in the covention about healthcare and give a HANDSHAKE TO THE NOMINEE) and no one talk mess about that...SO why is everyone talking mess about ..OH they dont support him alot..OMG...The Couple is doing alot by swating their supporters to obama...not only that she is the first runner up to fully throw support for the winning candidate..CNN reporters pointed that out...SO next time look deeper into what going on...His doing just enough for Obama...and i think Obama is satisfied with the CLINTONS...thank you Bill and Hillary for putting ppl first and knowing tha Obama is the best think for america right now...

Comedians are doing a better job than the media in nailing the truth! Awsome job Chris Rock.

Bill Clinton is smart, I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt - he might know those voters that are on the fence better than we think. They may not go for the all out VOTE FOR OBAMA statement. They need to be slowly lulled back into the democracy. They don't yet know they aren't happy living in a totalitarian society. He's warming them up...getting them ready for the week before the election. Then he's going to pounce...he'll give them the boost they need that convinces them Obama will be best for us. Right? right, Bill? You're just waiting for the right time...aren't you?

Perhaps he's upset that Obama will raise his taxes...!

Obama is a community organizer and won. Bill Clinton is a political operative and lost.
Obama has values. Clinton has ego.
Obama is admirable. Clinton has turned out to be a huge disappointment.
Obama will be the real first black President. Clinton will be a distant memory.

Clinton needs to get over himself.

President Clinton is not enthusiastic about Senator Obama and it shows. If Chris Rock can see it and comment on it, EVERYONE sees it.

Bill, I like you. We had money when you were in office. I voted for you twice. Get over yourself and get to helping out to get Senator Obama in the White House.

Again, the truth from a comedian. They're doing better than the media.

We all know that Clinton is no longer in the presidential race but Clinton is still a Senator from New York and she has responsibility as a leader in Washington as a representative for state. She has a right and obligation to speak out the economy especially the bailout since Wall Street and major financial institutions are in NY. Clinton calendar includes travels to campaign for other Democratic candidates to insure their election in November so constantly damaging her reputation within party does not help the party.

A new poll was released this week shows Clinton Democrats moving away from Obama and towards McCain. We can criticize her as much as we want but we are the selfish ones now when it serves no purpose. A segment of the Obama Democrats must move beyond the primaries and move past their distain for the Clintons because when we constantly express them publicly among other Democrats we are only alienating them as voters.

Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedian and I had a chance to meet him when we booked him for a show back in the 90s. I picked him up from airport and on a personal level he is very shy. Rock speaks many truths but when politics and the art of comedy merge—and the comedian become the message rather the truths the candidate want to communicate to voters. And when your candidate is trying to win an election, sometimes art can reap more harm than good.

Sadly what Chris Rock observed is dead on. Clinton is playing a game, and thinks democrats are fools.

Chris Rock is just saying what everyone's thinking, but in a funny way. Slick Will knows that his full fledged endorsement of Barack Obama could swing this even more in Barack's favor, however, Bill's not going to do that. He wants to set it up so that Hil can run again in 2012. There might not be a United States as we know it by then; that is if McCain and Palin get into the White House come January of next year. Bill, do yourself and your legacy a favor. Put the hard feelings behind you and just endorse Obama. Do it for your country and your party. Do it before the Republicans really flush your legacy and the hard work you put in for 8 years before Dubya took over down the toilet.

Um, I agree with Chris Rocks points, but he seems rather, um how shall I put this delicately ..... "irrationally exuberant".
12:05 PM on 09/24/2008
He is outraged and funny at the same time. I loved it.

Your comment suggests a lack of familiarity with Chris Rock's work. Chris Rock's public persona has always been about the rage that smiles in order to be heard. His comment about Bill Clinton was dead on!

And, you are spot on!

It is very easy to call out Bill Clinton's mocking statement that McCain will be a fine President
Someone please ask him these questions.

Then you support overturning Roe vs Wade, privatizing Social Security, more corporate tax cuts, 100 year occupation of Iraq, and nuclear confrontation with Russia?

Someone call his bluff. Any Clinton for McCain answers would destroy Hillary.

Bill has given the Clinton Chronicles some credibility.

Bill was terrible on the view and I didn't see Larry King Live. However, I thought he was good on Jon Stewart's Daily Show. Bill is schizo. One minute he's a Dem, another he's acting like an Independent or Republican. Still I enjoyed listening to his economic thoughts last night on Jon's show. You can tell he knows a thing or two about turning an economy around.
