The producers of hospital drama "ER" are hoping to entice George Clooney back for the show's upcoming final season, even though Clooney has said he's not interested in putting his scrubs on one more time.

"ER" executive producer David Zabel told TV Guide that story lines had been dreamed up for the show's 15th and last season for all major past characters, including Clooney's Dr. Ross and his old flame, nurse Carol Hathaway, played by Julianna Margulies.

In an interview with TV Guide released on Monday, Zabel told the magazine he was "optimistic that we might be able to get them all. We have a really good story line for every (major) character from the past to show (the actors) what we want to do."
...

But Clooney hasn't been tempted yet.

"He is on record as saying he is not coming back," said Clooney's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, on Monday. "It is something he has already done. He is busy making movies."

Smart choice Clooney.
Stay away from the little screen.
It's not big enough for you anymore unless it has one of your movies on cable.
then its all good.

Why would he forget the womb? Don't be silly.

I too think (and hope....) that Clooney's "non-return" is all hype -- it sure is getting this final season of ER a fair amount of press, doncha think?

I was a true ER junkie in the early years, then wandered off after all of my favorite originals started to leave. I'm glad to see they will try to go out with a "bang", with some of the great actors and characters we have loved and become attached to through the years.

Hey, we know Clooney makes movies now -- but seriously, he most likely wouldn't be there without the good folks at ER helping him along the way, right?

I think he should come back, just for a small cameo -- to give the faithful a little peek at what happened to the enigmatic Dr. Doug Ross (and hopefully, his WIFE Carol Hathaway!).

C'mon Georgie, just throw the fans a little crumb....I'm sure it's just one day of shooting on your part -- you could even get in a game of pick-up basketball and pull off some of your favorite pranks on a few of your old pals.

Ya know, I definitely thought about this potential cameo when I first read about it a few months ago, so I decided to make a somewhat tongue-in-cheek video plea to George himself......to plead for his return to ER.

Hope you enjoy it!

Gave up watching about four years ago - I don't think even Clooney could pull me back now. Glad that NBC is finally putting ER out of its misery.

George did one show a while back to wrap up the one story line they had for him to go back for. He no longer has the need for the small screen Edward's does. The show has had a good long run and let us say "Goodnnight Gracie".

ER ended years ago. The show that's on now is called General Hospital.

I think Clooney's "non-return" is all hype. I have a feeling he will come back unannounced for a later series-ending episode. Clooney's known for doing these out of the blue appearances. "ER"'s production crew will just try as hard as possible to keep it under wraps.

I think George Clooney should return to the ER, if just for the scene where the pediatrician delivers the head of the baby, leaving the body in the womb, only to exclaim "Hey . . . I don't work here anymore!" and walking off the set.

I thought the OB/GYN would be delilvering a baby. Pediatricians take over from that point.
