Bush Mccain

Over the last few days, John McCain has talked a decent game when it comes to enacting new regulations to protect American families from another financial crisis. But as this new video demonstrates, McCain's talk is just hot air -- he's got no record to back it up.

Last March, he famously said that he was "fundamentally a deregulator." In July, he said that his "fundamental difference" with Barack Obama was that Obama favored "more regulation" while he favored less. And earlier this month, McCain's strong support for deregulation was on display in speech after speech at the GOP convention.

Now, John McCain is scrambling to follow Barack Obama's lead as a reform-minded proponent of regulation. But that can't change the fact that when it comes to his record, all the way up until Thursday of last week, John McCain is "The Fundamental Deregulator" -- and YouTube is here to prove it:

Video edited by Jed Lewison for The Huffington Post.

"We do not support government bailouts of private institutions. Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct itself,"

- Republican Party Platform, 2008.

I am not for bailing out the banks. We should take our medicine now (banks failing, inflation, and recession) otherwise this could go on for decades.

The dems are going to go along because they are complicit.

"Financial Services Modernization Act,"
The vote on final passage revealed the abject surrender of the Democrats to the demands of the financial services industry. In the Senate, the vote was 90 to 8 for the bill, and in the House it was 362 to 57.

Mccain/gramm and their deregulation helped make this mess! Now he wants regulation that banks, and loaners are failing! This should be looped on a ad! Mccain is saying what obama said long ago.

Seems McCain warned about the Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae (someone tell Obama the correct names) in 2005 while Obama sat silent again....kind of like he's doing with this financial crisis.

Obama is so glad for the crisis...now, everything he's promised during the primaries that he knew he couldn't pay for.....fugggedddaboudddit!

McCain should have warned about it, he created the mess- Mr. De-regulator. How can anyone seriously vote for this incompetent person. He will say and do anything to get elected. BTW, none of the Bush Admin said or did anything either- too busy making money, perhaps!

This is actually an issue of semantics-- the last week has made it painfully apparent that all confusion regarding the McCain campaign is due to one thing: McCain's FUNDAMENTAL misunderstanding of the word FUNDAMENTAL.

He is trying to back-down and reinterpret what it means to be "fundamentally a de-regulator," all the while maintaining that when he said the "fundamentals of our economy are strong" he meant the hard-working nature and ingenuity of the American people.

FYI to the McCain campaign: definitions are free, concrete, and pretty much permanent!! Go to a local library and consult Webster's, Google away, and you'll see! Life is so much easier when words have, what's the phrase I'm looking for-- FUNDAMENTAL MEANING.

I think its interesting that Republican tards, keep boasting about Obama modifying his tax plan to fit the downward changes in the economy, which most people have been asking for for 7 yrs since Bush has refused to change any stupid plan of his the whole time hes been in office.
Yet, the more odd issue is that mcCain's tax plan is to not only keep the current tax cuts, but ADD to them for corporations, and then additionally ramp up military spending... with only a few billion in stated cuts in his plan which when he came out with it in the spring, economists laughed at it spurting drinks out their noses reading it.
And in fact, the subsequent analysis by professionals has been that McCain will cost us far more than Obama's tax plan will.
And in fact provide less of an economic boost than Obama's.
And this the GOP wants to implement while we are borrowing 700 billion dollars for this Rich people's bailout.... and then acting like Obama making a sensible change to his plan due to economic changes, is bad? while Mccain makes no change to his twisted idiotic plan.
nice

From the NYT: One of the giant mortgage companies at the heart of the credit crisis paid $15,000 a month to a firm owned by Senator John McCain’s campaign manager from the end of 2005 through last month, according to two people with direct knowledge of the arrangement. The disclosure contradicts a statement Sunday night by Mr. McCain that the campaign manager, Rick Davis, had no involvement with the company for the last several years.

John McCain's Economic Policy was written by Phil Gramm

Phil Gramm is the Czar of Derregulation, particularly in the area of mortgages.

McCain is for blanket derregulation, including the financial sector and wall street.

How in the world can anyone defend McCain on this one?

You can't really know what McCain meant when he referred to himself as "fundamentally a deregulator" and talked about the "fundamental" difference between him and Obama since, as he showed last week, he has no idea what the word "fundamental" means.

Please, everybody, send a link to this video far and wide.

He has defined few terms in his entire campaign - "victory," "cutting waste," "reformer," "soul mate," even "maverick." This is precisely why the press needs access to him, because we need to understand his expanded views. If there are any at all, that is.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:08 PM on 09/23/2008

For McCain, every single word he uses to describe himself or his views has at least two meanings. This is doublespeak at its finest.

They have been trying to tell us that words don't matter for quite a while. They have recently stepped up their efforts, e.g. Sarah Palin's foreign leader speed dating extravaganza.

Of course, Democrats are still expected to speak to the press, with intense scrutiny of everything said. As usual, there is one set of rules for them and another set of rules for everyone else.

Less is more. War is peace. Arbeit macht frei.

Whatever.

This needs to be a commericial aired in all the swing states over and over and over again until the dunderheads who still want to vote for the "maverick" wake-up and realize exactly who he is and what he stands for.

I have been reading certain news articles and blogs that suggest that the Republicans could take Minnesota, as most of the voters in that state, say they relate and associate with Palin, because she sounds and acts like they do, and that Obama is connected with the corrupt politics of Chicago.
So racism and ignorance will decide the destiny of this country.

Palin made some inroads into the state, but it's a temporary boost. She is a gimmick. And the people of Minnesota, especially in the middle of this economic meltdown, will start focusing on the issues again.

There is no more corrupt politics than that of Karl Rove and company.

The destiny of this country depends on people putting their country first not their party.

I would suggest that congress wait another month to see what will happen. Gamble? maybe, but most of us are willing to take that gamble to test the scam meter.

The so call bailout is the last scam that Bush and Cheny want to pull before they walk out of the door. How can anyone believe these people about anything. Anthing that Bush and Cheney are pushing has to be a scam. This will go down in history as being one of the greatest scams every pulled it will even top the Iraq war scam. Are we all insane to believe this scam?

PLEASE get this video in an ad ASAP! Do it before the debate, and see what the audience thinks when McCain tries to weasel out of his own words. Even better, would it be possible to show it during the commercial breaks?

Wow!! that video would be the end of McCain if used in an ad. What a blow to all of his recent rhetoric. The video show in true form the real McCain and the real Republican Party and it also reveals how we got in the mess we are in.
