ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT has obtained a court minute order confirming Sharon Stone has lost physical custody of her child Roan, despite her court pleas to change the arrangement. According to court documents detailing a September 12, 2008 custody hearing, Phil Bronstein "shall have permanent sole physical custody of child. Court finds that Respondent (Sharon Stone) failed to meet her burden of proof and denies Respondent's (Sharon Stone's) request for modification of custody. The judge also notes this order is permanent unless there is a change of circumstances.

This information from a September 12th minute order is a dramatic change from a custody order obtained by ET in October of 2007 that states Stone's ex, newspaper editor Phil Bronstein and the actress had "joint legal and physical custody" at that time. Stone and Bronstein divorced in early 2004.

People adds:

According to minutes from a Sept. 12 custody hearing, a Superior Court judge found that the boy, who is living with his father in the Bay Area and attending school there, will remain with Bronstein unless Stone relocates to San Francisco or Bronstein decides to move.

"The court does not find that (a) move away is in child's best interest," say the minutes. "(Bronstein) can provide a more structured continuity, stable, secure, and consistent home that child, Roan, needs."

Stone "shall have access to child," the minutes say, and her phone number "shall be programmed into the child's telephone and home phone."

Stone has three sons, the younger two adopted after her divorce. She and Bronstein married in 1998.

The AP story, filed 10 hours after ET broke the story:

Actress Sharon Stone has lost another round of custody proceedings over her oldest son. A San Francisco judge denied her request for primary custody of 8-year-old Roan, who's been living with his father, newspaper executive Phil Bronstein. The couple divorced in 2004 after six years of marriage.

The judge ruled Sept. 12 that Bronstein's home is more stable and structured, reaffirming a 2007 court order that the executive vice president of the San Francisco Chronicle has permanent sole custody of Roan.

Stone retains visitation rights.

The judge also said the parents must consult with each other before enrolling their child in any tutoring activities, and that Stone's telephone number should be programmed into Roan's cell and home telephones.

Stone has two other sons, Laird and Quinn, whom she adopted on her own.

A call to Stone's lawyer was not immediately returned Tuesday.

It is disappointing that this kind of story is anywhere on huffpo which has been sliding on a downhill slope with these sleazy stories that pass for "entertainment news." However, as this involved minor children, it is really sad. But as long as it's here...

The judge is right. Kids need stability and if Stone is busy globetrotting whether for acting (hah!) or her work with various causes such as AIDS, that's not going to give this boy that stability. She needs to at least be in close proxmitiy - ideally no more than an hour's drive away, not an hour's plane flight.

This is just conjecture of course on the part of Stone's case, but it seems to me a lot of peeps adopt for themselves, not for the kids - Meaning, they go about collecting kids because it makes THEM feel good.

Ever notice how much these adoptive parents move from place to place, dragging the kids along? There's that underlying dissatisfaction and need for something "new" consantly nagging at them and that's why they uproot and go somewhere new.

I don't understand why Stone/Bronstein fought about custody when he had made it clear early on about his love for the Bay area and his desire to raise a child up there. He seems like a good dad, but who knows?

How do you know why people adopt? What makes you an expert?

In High School, I thought about all my classmates whose parents were divorced, or going through divorce. It scared me. I can really see the pain in their eyes, but tried to make it through those difficult times.

There were times when my Mom would take care of my best friend Susan when her parents were divorcing. She used to cry, and I heard her soft sobs at night where she would stay with us for the weekend. Today, Suzie is a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. She did very well. Although her brother went through hell. No need to be sad, he is now OK.

I don't really know Sharon Stones, but I know she's a MENSAN. I feel sorry for her and her son Roan. I am using his first name, but I don't have a clue of what is going on. It just remind me of Suzie and Wendell.

Can't deny I'm interested in the facts of this story...and
I'm kinda impressed and amazed how everyone has it all figured out about Sharon, Phil and Roan.
To them and the gossip mongers I say focus on your own quality of life.

There are many stories of her, local stories here in SF that pass from person to person, where she isn't the best mom in the world. Like the time she was out shopping on trendy Sacramento Street with her then young son. They stopped in a very chi chi baby store and she struck up a conversation with the gay owner. She had to do errands and asked if she could leave her boy with the owner for a minute. After all, he was gay, so it was okay, right? Well. She came back an hour later. The owner told this story, bragged about it, as if it was really cool that he'd met Sharon Stone. But moms who heard it were horrified--to leave your kid with a total stranger? Somebody you just met? For over an hour?? Bizarre.

Heard this story direct from the course, and it's doubtful he'd lie.

And that man could've been a pedophile or anything else too. I guess Phil Bronstein knew what he was doing by seeking custody. Some celebs have adopted children to fill a void in their lives, not to be true parents.
Sharon adopted the last two alone so no one could see custody. Heaven help those boys.
Pproducer Joe Esterhaus wrote a scathing book, which included Sharon's Hollywood rise via the casting couch. No wonder she looks so old for her age.

If this is a true story Sharon Stone should not have responsibility for any child. This is such an irresponsible and selfish act that I personally would never trust this women again .This is evidence of a personality disorder. No wonder she was so good in "Basic Instinct". She is one scary chick.

In 2008 if a mother loses custody of a child there's a darn good reason why. Remember Britney?

And that story was TRUE too. Kirk Douglas even wrote about seeing those kids tied to the bed in his bio. He dated Joan Crawford but after seeing that, he said he climbed out a window. LOL....

The worst part about his article is the fact that her private life is being invaded. Children of celebrities are a no no in regards to public invasion of privacy. This is really a personal matter, and we should all be ashamed for talking about it. I'm sorry Sharon.

public record. celebrities are not exempt. blowing it all out of proportion, well, that's the "job" of the media and the price we pay for an open society.

Given what has come out about her over the years, I'd say the maternal instinct isn't a strong suit of hers. At her age, I'd think she'd better settle on some sort of low key lifestyle to stay out of the tabloids if she wants to have a better shot at custody.

I don't recall anything negative about Sharon Stone other than she was in a hit movie. If the boy is going to school where he is currently located then this makes sense too.

We don't use gender as a criteria here in SF.

She will NEVER get custody.

Creative Artists?

Listen this is not really news because her custody is the same as it was before.
( Good PR though. )

Not necessarily true. Generally child and child custody issues remain in the jurisdiction of where the initial divorce was filed. I believe before the divorce, the couple may have resided in SF due to his position. Why would he agree to a change of venue if still living in SF? Also, why was the child living with and attending school in SF? Your right, there is always more to the story....

Sharon Stone married Phil Bronstein and moved to San Francisco to live. During their marriage they adopted Roan, and the whole family lived in San Francisco. When Stone got a divorce and moved back to her home in Los Angeles, knowing Phil Bronstein, she left the child with Phil. I assume he was in school and Stone wanted to start up her career again. She was all over the map this last year. She must have adopted the other boys and immediately left them with their nanny. She is a very smart and beautiful woman albeit not a very nice one.

You know, I feel sorry for the adopted children in the world who think their families saved them from despair and lonliness - and then these parents leave them as quickly as they bought them because "things just didn't work out". The dress doesn't fit so I am going to return it attitude. I don't think it's legal. It is certainly immoral. I am not saying this is Sharon,.... It is so empty though, I would imagine it must feel like abandonment no matter what age you find out the circumstances. I hope she thinks of them as her own. If she is so smart she should fight for the child to return.

Good Luck

I think this is a control issue on the part of the ex. That was the reason for the divorce, he was a control freak and Sharon had had enough. So now he tries to control her through the child, the ultimate sign of a manipulator. Notice the court is in San Francisco where Bronstein has a lot of pull. Also, she has to move to SF to get a chance of custody back. I'll bet there is more to this than meets the eye.

I am glad some are making note of Bronstein's pull in SF. There's more to this than what is being told or printed to the press, specially those who has ties with Bronstein.

I don't really Sharon Stone's acting, but she's really an intelligent woman, at least by is her IQ. She's a MENSAN's.

Enough of this sad story.
