Fox News Fires Producer Who Chyroned Michelle Obama Barack's "Baby Mama"

Fox News has fired Jessica Herzberg, the freelance producer responsible for the "Obama's baby mama" chyron from June, according to Chickaboomer.

In June, during a segment on Fox News' "America's Election HQ," a chyron read: "Outraged Liberals: Stop Picking On Obama's Baby Mama!"

At the time, Fox News' Senior Vice President of Programming, Bill Shine, acknowledged Herzberg's poor judgment, saying, "A producer on the program exercised poor judgment in using this chyron during the segment."

Herzberg has reportedly moved on to CNBC.

I'd like to fire all of Fox News. They are disgracefully racist at all levels. Why does it take 3 months to fire someone for racism? An immediate booting would send a message. Paying someone a salary for 3 months after this, then giving her what I suppose is a layoff, meaning she gets unemployment benefits, is now considered 'taking action?'

i'm as outraged as you, but if she was freelance she wasn't a permanent employee and probably didn't get any benefits (insurance, etc). she can't be laid off technically, they most likely didn't continue to use her or renew any freelance contracts and i don't see how she'd get unemployment. but yeah, the b************ needed to be fired on the spot. the worst part of this story is she went over to cnbc!

It's about damn time Faux did something about it. This was a direct racial/insult to an intelligent woman who's made something of herself. Michelle Obama is a wonderful mother and wife. Michelle Obama is the perfect example of beauty, grace, style and class. It would take a complete idiot to say something so hideous about her. I've worked freelance. you don't get to make those decisions. she's the goat in this deal -- whoever told her to do it has cover because she wasn't "fired" for the chyron -- it's just one of the things she did while there. If they fired her at the time, she could have said why it made it on air, and who told her to do it. I'm betting she got a nice check and a good reference to keep her mouth shut.

You are right Mysticalsister. You do not have to fire a contract worker, you simply stop using them and this can be done pronto. The reality is that Republicans are now pro-Baby Mommas, thanks to Bristol, and this is the logical way Fox can make the transition. Saying they 'fired' her is just disinformation.
