WASHINGTON — First lady Laura Bush said Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin lacks sufficient foreign policy experience but is a very quick study.

In an interview Wednesday with CNN, the first lady remarked that it's fortunate that Republican presidential nominee John McCain has foreign policy experience himself.

Still, Mrs. Bush said she has a lot of confidence in Palin. She said the Alaska governor has a lot of good common sense, and the first lady added that she is thrilled to have a chance to vote for Palin on the GOP ticket.

Mrs. Bush also said she thinks Palin is being treated unfairly because she is a woman. That, the first lady said, is to be expected.

Laura Laura Laura, a quick study?

Palin is demonstrating what happens when you are not prepared. As a procrastinator I completely understand how it feels to be inundated at the last minute with information before an exam.

No matter how much you cram you always under-perform.

I understand from your church going how you. Laura, are trying to be supportive of Palin. But, Laura, this is not a little child up there singing "Yes Jesus Loves Me" with her voice cracking and everyone in the congregation trying to be supportive; know matter how bad the sound is.

This is for the VP Laura, and I would appreciate it if you republicans would stop acting like this is a Platinum performance, when this is't even good enough for choir rehersal.

So she mentioned, Condi was her first choice? If Sarah has common sense; why is she hiding from the media, etc. That's plain stupid!

I am a strong advocate for women's rights, raised my daughter to think independently, am pro-choice,and pro- Obama, adore Biden (my actual preference for Pres) HOWEVER
I know I am decidedly in the minority on this one but if Sarah Palin wanted to have five children, why doesn't she stay home and take care of them, particularly since she has a 17 year old daughter who is pregnant and a newborn with special needs. Governorships and Federal Executive positions are not 9 to 5 jobs......The Republican Right is always spouting off about family values, nevertheless that should mean more than just having one child right after the other. I suppose First Dude or a well paid Nanny will provide the day to day care her children so rightly deserve. The hypocrisy sickens me.

Palin also lacks honesty.

You mean she needs more experience than being able to see Russia from Alaska?

It would be nice if this article had, like, quotes in it.

Laura Bush has just demonstrated that critical thinking is not one of her strong points.

Of course, that seems to be typical of most Repub's:-P

This is a joke. Sarah Palin went to 4 or 5 colleges, lived near Russia and spent at least a few minutes with leaders of other countries not the USA. You all should be ashamed of yourselves for selling her credentials short. And did you see her on Couric? Totally nailed it. She is so smart, her glasses don't need rims. I mean with her it's kind of like when the country wanted George Washington to just be President for life, that's the kind of freaking smart she is. And she never wears the same color for pants and her coat. Symbolic of a lot of stuff, I'm sure. O'Reilly's body language expert could tell you more. Or is it his word expert? I don't know, one of those blondes. But anyway, my point is that Palin is golden.

Don't let them get your down Sarah!

What she meant to say was that Palin does not have a $4000 per dress wardrobe that would make her look experienced on whatever the issue is, just like Cindy and Laura do.

I wonder if being a quick study would mean that the "moose hunting" Sarah could skin a moose while wearing one of Laura's dresses and not get it stained! I guess we should be happy that McCain did not select Monica Lewinsky as his VP!

So... Stepford Wife, Laura Bush says Sarah Palin has no foreign policy experience..but she is a quick learner. Yeah...that's what we need right now in our next V.P

A QUICK LEARNER...another way of saying...Sarah needs to be TOTALLY TRAINED because she knows ZERO...ZIPPO.... about the V.P. job.

And who will "train" her? The same geniuses who got us where we are today. Dubya and Cheney's merry band of witless neocons. McSame and Caribou Barbie will regurgitate their talking points and our foreign policy will remain a shambles.

Let's be real about this. I question his judgment in offering her the position. I also question her judgment in accepting it. Both are suspect. This ticket is quickly turning into a bad joke.

Did Laura Bush also mention Obama has no foreign policy experience?

If no such experience would disqualify a VP candidate, wouldn't it surely disqualify a P candidate?

You have to first define what "foreign policy experience" is. People just granted it to McCain just because he's been in the senate for 26 years. wrong. The guy doesn't know the difference between shias and sunnis. he claimed that Iran was training al-qaeda (it's like saying Israel is training Hizbollah) and many other mistakes. Obama KNOWS. He does his homework (like I do). He's been follwoing the events in the international scene for a long time and uses his brains to analyze and take position, that's why he made the right judgement that the war in Iraq was not a good idea.
McCain may get the same information (given his years in DC) as Obama , but he either forgets half of it or he makes the wrong analysis (he has a wrong view of the world from his years in vietnam)
Now! The big prize of course goes to the hot chick he picked. She simply doesn't know. She never bothered to learn about the world. She didn't care till few days before the election (some photo ops to fool stupid people). She's a hockey mom. Just vote for me coz i'm a hockey mom.. NO.. There is no comparison

One teeny little difference with Palin...she lies about it. She truly expects people will believe that she has experience because she lives so close to Russia. Sadly, a lot of non-thinking nitwits will buy it.

McCain says that he has "suspended" his campaign for obvious reasons; but instead, he has "ABANDONED" it. Obama's actions have shown Americans that instead of "abandoning" us as McCain has, he will stick with us and stick up for us during this critical time. Thank you Obama!

That's a bizarre and irrational formulation.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:29 PM on 09/24/2008

and what is the logic of racing back to Washington to insert yourself into an ongoing crisis brought about by your past "deregulation calls"???? McKeating is NOT on any Committee or panel working on any solution, claims to be in OPPOSITION to the failed Bush Policies that aided this new "Bush Legacy" and wants to distance himself from the Bush Administration (Tres Sec??) . . . so just WHAT purpose will he serve? Also hasn't been in the Senate or Washington for OVER a year . . . . is that "rational"???

Not at all. McSame has always been for deregulation. That's worked out so well, it seems. He was going to have a helluva time explaining that away. If he can stall the debate until after the monster bailout deal is done, it will take a little heat off him. He may be old and pitiful, but he's still a politician.

Why not "postone" the election? We wouldn't want to change "leadership" in the middle of a crisis, would we? The republic might be split apart, the common good abandoned, panic in the streets, anarchy. Better to have "stability." Remember, you heard it here first.
