McCain Camp Wants To Postpone VP Debate

John McCain's campaign now wants to suspend the VP debate?

CNN's Dana Bash reports that McCain officials are "trying to negotiate with the Obama campaign and the presidential debate commission" to change next Thursday's planned vice presidential debate into a McCain-Obama affair. The VP debate would be postponed to another date.

"That is what they are proposing," Bash reported. "[McCain officials] understand very well that both the Obama campaign and the debate commission have no intention of delaying Friday's debate, but...if there is no bailout deal by Friday, McCain has no plan to go to debate."

Good call Golden Rule, I would love to see that happen. I almost feel bad for Palin though, she stands no chance against Biden. But only almost.
It is really upsetting that they are trying to postpone the VP debate though once again the McCain camp shows that they are willing to deny information to the public to suit their own ends.

If McCain insists on moving the Presidential debate, Palin and Biden can debate Friday night in Mississippi. They really can't come up with a reason why not, unless they admit that Palin is completely unprepared to answer any questions, except with snappy memorized derisive quips.

I think that Sarah is now stuck between a rock and a hard place. The whole state of Alaska now knows more about her than they knew before she was elected. And from some of the web sights up there they are not too happy with her now. Apparently not exactly what they thought they voted for. With her stellar showing so far as a representative of the state of Alaska in the national spot light , not exactly aces so far.
With a bad showing against Biden in the debate, she couldn't handle Katie Couric , McCain losing I think she will not get reelected in Alaska. I think the McCain camp wishes all the debates would just go away.
He is getting tired and Sarah is getting old.

McCain has been crying endlessly for "town hall meetings", like they are the Holy Grail of debates.

I still do not understand quite why they would be so much different from a regular debate?
Can he 'load" the questions in them, coming from "plain folks" when he cannot in a media controlled debate?

Ms. Palin is known to have a bad temper, like McCain is famous for. If Biden can get her angry and lose her temper, then he's got her. Maybe she'll cry and run off stage, saying something like "you can't ask me that...I'm a mother of 5!"

Seriously, Obama should get some good/famous pop singer to sing that and have all the proceeds go to the Obama campaign. Surely there are such singers about! Hey, have everybody sing it!

Palin and Biden should debate tomorrow and Obama/McCain should debate next week when the VP debate was originally scheduled. All rules already negotiated for the two debates should stand as they are given that the moderators have already been preparing questions/formats. All four candidates should be able to roll with the punches if they are all ready to lead.

OF COURSE, they want to postpone the debates, they're losing and don't think the debates will help them.

No matter what side a voter is on politically right now, they DESERVE to hear the candidates. PARTICULARLY in this time of crisis, we need to know what the candidates think and how they plan to proceed to get us out of this mess, if they're elected.

Just sitting with Kissinger or being ogled by Benizar Bhutto's widower, the playboy crook known as Mr. Ten Percent (it seems the proper amount of time for mourning has certainly passed!) does not make Palin anymore prepared to lead in the foreign policy arena than looking across the Bering Straight to Russia. Intellect and experience is not something acquired on the fly by osmosis.

I noticed that Scott Pelley said that Joe Biden had sat down 84 times with reporters while Palin has been sequestered and had only two talks with one reporter. Can Americans really be OK with having her "get to know them" without answering any questions or demonstrating any understanding of issues (or reality).

The move to postpone (read cancel) debates is not some patriotic self-sacrifice, it is more of the McCainiacs (now the Bushies) desperate attempt to avoid the real straight talk. It is hard to "stay on message" when those pesky interviewers and moderators keep pointing out that you are not answering the question!
