NEW YORK — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says the United States could be headed for another Great Depression if Congress doesn't act on the financial crisis.

Palin's comments came in an interview Wednesday with "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric.

Asked whether there's a risk of another Great Depression if Congress doesn't approve a $700 billion bailout package, Palin said: "Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on."

Palin said the answer to the financial crisis doesn't necessarily have to be the bailout plan that the Bush administration has proposed, but should be some form of bipartisan action to reform Wall Street.

omfg... can we imagine a world with this woman as our president? if we lose that is a real possibility... she could get it by default ... can we say theocracy? the woman is a real threat, and she scares me. McCain has let this woman loose on us and he calls it "putting the country first."

A lot of things are possible, Sarah.

One that isn't is Mccain/Palin getting my vote.

Well if Caribou Barbie says so, it must be true. I'm getting my apples and tin cup with pencils to sell. "Once I built a railroad, made it run. Made it race against time. Once I built a railroad, now it's done. Brother can you spare a dime?"

John McCain is a sneaky man, and his obvious calculated, political move today will no doubt appear in a campaign ad next week, McCain claiming that he put his country first! This was simply a sneaky move, for politcal gain by John McCain, and sadly alot of people will probably fall for this disgraceful ploy by John McCain.

Democrats please call your Independent and Democratic friends, and let them know that this is a very calculated, sneaky political move by John McCain, and they should NOT to fall for it!!
The proof that this is all a sneaky political ploy by John McCain is the many negative campaign ads McCain will put out on this NEXT WEEK.

In every way this attempt to shove what the president wants down our throats resembles the runup to the attack on Iraq.

I don't believe the economy will crash in a week without this bailout. But if a depression is in front of us, let's get on with it, and let the stinking fundamentals work themselves out.

Bush was reckless and irresponsible today, trying to scare everyone with words like "panic" and "rescue." In a time like this a president is supposed to calm a nation - not trigger a run on the banks.

I'm looking forward to the announcements of Palin's Nobel Prize in Economics.

I tell you... if she goes to the VP's mansion, there'll be 300 million cases of great depression.

Fear tactics, that 's all they have is fear tactics. Better go along with it or we will have a hissy fit. Please. Let them have thier hissy fit, not going to happen. The public has spoken, and we don't want a govt. bail out. We didn't cause this, they did. No Virginia, we won't have a depression if we don't agree to it. No, we wont' all blow away in the dust and become chickens. Anytime you see Bush pushing something nobody else wants, you know its a bad idea and based on corruption and lies. His own party is abandoning him and his ship. That has to tell him something. The threats and hunting trips just wont' work anymore to instill fear in them. Obamma isn't going to sell out the American people over this. Not going to happen Mr. Bush. Let Bush have his hissy fit, the public doesn't care, we do care about our money, and won't let anyone steal it again. Basta, enough is enough.

It is time to crucify Wall Street.

What do you think the debate questions should be?
