NEW YORK — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says the United States could be headed for another Great Depression if Congress doesn't act on the financial crisis.

Palin's comments came in an interview Wednesday with "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric.

Asked whether there's a risk of another Great Depression if Congress doesn't approve a $700 billion bailout package, Palin said: "Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on."

Palin said the answer to the financial crisis doesn't necessarily have to be the bailout plan that the Bush administration has proposed, but should be some form of bipartisan action to reform Wall Street.

wrong sarah.
this is another give away to the priviledged.
the middle class, through spending,is the only bright spot left in this wrecked economy.
if they can't spend, then it will be a depression.

I wonder if McCain approved that message. I thought he and Obama didn't want to let on how they were voting. Thanks Palin. ROFL

"... Palin said the answer to the financial crisis is..."

Wait a minute... this is not Alaska... this is serious business

The lower 48 states do not need a "Bridge To No-Where" or a "Road To No-Where" or a "Pipe Line To No-Where" or a "Rink You Do not Own The Land To" or "Pay Your Own Rape Test Kit" or "Witch Doctors Laying Their Hands On Our Economy" or "Fire Everbody Who Does Not Lick Your Boot Policy" and so on!

We Need Change!

Now McCain is trying to put off the debate "because of the financial crisis". Another manipulative tactic. He just doesnt want to debate Obama during this crisis because he doesnt have a clue what he is talking about

MSNBC - BREAKING NEWS - NBC News and news services

NEW YORK - Republican John McCain says he's directing his staff to work with Barack Obama's campaign and the debate commission to delay Friday's debate because of the economic crisis.

In a statement, McCain says he will stop campaigning after addressing former President Bill Clinton's Global Initiative session on Thursday and return to Washington to focus on the nation's financial problems.

McCain also said he wants President Bush to convene a leadership meeting in Washington. Both he and Obama would attend the session.

That's just religious prejudice talking.

I hate that, frankly, coming out of my "used-to-be" tolerant Democratic party.

It's turned so into a Republican version that I left.

No, you're just in denial.

She and everyone else is telling you the truth.

Either pass the bill.....or we're in a global depression that will be unlike anything you've ever experienced.

I'm prepared for it.

Are you?

You will be walking over your family members put out on the streets. You will get to see your family members in hospital wards with no real care, because there's no money. You will see 3 generations of Americans completely transformed by trauma. And many of them won't be like me, toughies......they won't survive. And they will pass along their experience to their children.

It's a clear choice to me.

I think the Dems are doing this to avoid responsibility.

I think they'd actually kick us into the worst to avoid responsibility.

I think I shouldn't have ever been supportive of this party.

We will go in to a "depression" even if this bailout is passed, do to the fact that it doesn't address and correct the underlying causes.

ARMs will still reset at higher rates.

Homes still have lost value, making it harder to refinance the amount owed when the ARMs reset.

There will still be a glut of forclosed homes on the market, causing home values to remain low.

Paying good tax dollars for bad assets won't change this.
