Palin Says Another Great Depression Is Possible

NEW YORK — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says the United States could be headed for another Great Depression if Congress doesn't act on the financial crisis.

Palin's comments came in an interview Wednesday with "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric.

Asked whether there's a risk of another Great Depression if Congress doesn't approve a $700 billion bailout package, Palin said: "Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on."

Palin said the answer to the financial crisis doesn't necessarily have to be the bailout plan that the Bush administration has proposed, but should be some form of bipartisan action to reform Wall Street.

Sarah Palan has a degree in journalism and has been giving interviews in Alaska since running for governor. She SHOULD know how to avoid being tagged with terms like Great Depression. She may be a neophyte as far as Foreign Affairs and Economics (her state has worked with nothing but surpluses due to oil revenues), but she has been courting publicity for years. She should be better by now, especially considering she has been groomed for close to a month!

This fueled strong short-term growth but created consumer and commercial debt. Many drastically cut current spending to keep up time payments, thus lowering demand for new products. Businesses began to fail as construction work and factory orders plunged.

First off -she isn't far off the mark, because she's stating the obvious. A kid in 6th grade history would have the same astuteness.

Secondly - anything she has said, from her original unveiling, to her acceptance­/conventio­n speech, to every phrase out of her mouth since has been written by her handlers, fed to her and practiced. This is clearly evident by the fact that she is kept under extremely close wraps.

Thirdly - thanks to her "deregulation" master and his "sidekick" Phil Gramm, and his mentor GW Bush, she has something she can open her mouth about...no­thing astounding, nothing we don't already know, but it will be spun into some utterance of intelligence out of her.
