NEW YORK — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says the United States could be headed for another Great Depression if Congress doesn't act on the financial crisis.

Palin's comments came in an interview Wednesday with "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric.

Asked whether there's a risk of another Great Depression if Congress doesn't approve a $700 billion bailout package, Palin said: "Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on."

Palin said the answer to the financial crisis doesn't necessarily have to be the bailout plan that the Bush administration has proposed, but should be some form of bipartisan action to reform Wall Street.

McCain campaign: "EVERYBODY PANIC!!!!!!!!"

Obama campaign: "We can get control of this situation."

Unfortunately, that tactic often works for the Republicans. It worked in 04, and they're counting on it for 08. Let's hope voters have learned their lesson from the Fear Mongers who are currently in control.

There is one big differnce between 2004, and 2008, it was 2006, the year we told the republicans..enough is enough. That spirit is still with us. 2006 was only the precursor to what we are going to do to them in 2008.

What I wish this video had played the part where she blamed the people who are losing their homes for this mess.

That will play well in Ohio.

http://www.nationalenquirer.com/ Trash, but true? They were right about John Edwards...unfortunately. Could this be part of the reason reporters don't get to ask questions??? Just wondering....

Don't watch Bush on TV tonight...who the hell even cares about anything he has to say....Been AWOL for 8 years. I say play with your kids, relax with a good book and a stiff drink...anything else would be preferable.

The winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences will be announced on Monday October 13. I'm pretty sure VP candidate Palin didn't make the short list. (Or long list for that matter). As for a great depression, it's what I feel every time I listen to this airhead open her mouth and ask how it's possible she was even picked as a candidate for VP of the US!

This lady should shut her trap about economics. She has zero...ZERO background or experience in that area. if a bailout takes place by friday....or by halloween...if done correctly we are fine. But doing it by friday smells of patriot Act BS where bush and his cronies ram bad legislation down our throats.

I bet she knows Finance because she can see an ATM from her office.

Katie should have followed up Palin's answer with a question "What was the great depression?" and "Why did that happen?".

Palin: Hmmm.....You know I should check that out in the history book.

I am sure Katie would probably loose her job after that interview.

What a great opportunity to show that Palin is truly ready on day one.

If McCain can't make the debate then Sarah is of course ready to take his place and

discuss foreign policy. I mean if McCain had to spend the night in a hospital she would become the

acting president....Surely she can handle a debate if she can handle the entire government.

Bring on Caribou Barbie.

This is only to help the rich people. The 700 Billion is to protect the investments of the rich guys like Paulsen himself.
