Reid: Dodd Is Our Leader On Wall Street Crisis
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Banking Committee chairman Chris Dodd held a press conference on the financial crisis tonight, just prior to President Bush's speech.
The two laid out their priorities going forward and warned President Bush not to try to "stampede" Congress. But more notable was the enthusiastic praise that Reid gave to Dodd.
Dodd has done "a remarkably good job" and "has the support of the caucus without any question," Reid said. "He is our leader on this issue. ... I am so impressed with the work that he has done, he has worked tirelessly."
It was the clearest Reid has been in declaring Dodd (and his proposal) to be the definitive voice for the Senate Democrats on the Wall Street bailout.
