Mccainoops

What we are witnessing right now is what a McCain presidency would be like -- herky jerky, bouncing from crisis to crisis, overreacting at every step.

It's taken him exactly ten days to go from the economy is strong to we're heading into the Great Depression and must stop the campaign.

But nothing has changed other than the polls, and that's why it's impossible to take this gamble seriously.

McCain can see that he cannot win the presidency unless the campaign narrative changes dramatically, so he's decided to roll the dice.

After all his talk of bipartisanship, John McCain has decided to make an intensely political move. He does not have a plan, but he's willing to drag the country through his personal drama, no matter the cost, just so that he might win the presidency.

McCain wants to demonstrate his leadership skills, but instead he's demonstrating beyond any doubt that he is temperamentally unfit to be president.

This illustrates perfectly McCain's lack of capacity to be President. He says and does things without thinking of the consequences, which is perhaps the worst trait in a potential President. Once you release the bombs, you can't ask for a do-over.

Barack Obama is the most thoughtful and even-tempered candidate for President since John F. Kennedy. Those are the traits that we need and require in a President.

He's losing in the polls and he's losing his mind.
It's kind of sad to watch him melt-down on live television, but
better now than in five months as president.

This move is going to change things. With Obama, quite correctly, deciding to continue to campaign and hold the debate he will be painted as prefering to focus on the election and ignoring the people affected by the crisis. This is malarkey of course but the average bubba will buy it. He will be shown as unpatriotic and self serving and fixed news will blare that and only that for the next 40 days.

Obama wants to solve the problem but he will be portrayed as out of touch and uncaring. This idiotic and bizarre perception will hit home with enough "just plain folks" to cost him the election. If McCain lost the election last monday, Obama may have lost it today.

Well, one can either follow McCain's suggestion or stand firm. And what is bolstering Obama presently is the perception of standing firm and unruffled, i.e. presidential.

Yes, the malarkey is a potential trap - but the average bubba buying this ploy doesn't know there's a significant crisis anyhow. And it can be countered effectively because Obama can consult with economic advisors and issue statements as well and I'll bet there's some sudden meetings being planned in that respect. It's a careful rope to walk but Obama will negotiate it okay, because he seems to be able to maintain his cool and inspire in the process - that is needed as much as anything right now and perhaps the contrast will be pivotal.

From your lips to the god of your choices ears. But as Menken said,"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the american people."
One thing the Repugs are good at is creating no-win (or at least tough to win) situations for their opponents.

Right on the mark. This is nothing but a political gambit. It's never been, and never will be, country first. It's now and always been McCain first. We're not buying it.

Obama has a lock on self-interest. It's never been, never will be, anything else for him...PRESENT again?

The sheltering of the prospective President has begun. They're scared of his appearance in a debate with Obama and trying to appear concerned after-the-fact. A campaign that trots out Ms. Palin as VP material can certainly unfold a transparent plot such as this with no semblance of shame. However, should McCain win an election, I think the flip-flops would cease in favor of righteous intransigence such as we have been favored with over the past two terms of the child king.

STOP THE DEBATE, HOLD THE PRESSES! or WHATEVER or EXPECTING TO PULL A PALIN

McCain is suddenly behind in the polls and he stops the debate -- the ONE chance of THREE debates he had to address a national audience unedited. His campaign managers are stupid, or they expect to thrash Obama in the last two debates so close to the election that Obama cannot recover.

Ergo, pull a Sarah Palin.

The only problem is that people see Obama as more fit to run the country than he, and people behind in the polls usually try to use the debates to boost themselves. So the longer McCain waits, the more he slips behind and it may be that even if he slaughters Obama with a cute quip (and I am certain Obama has boned up on his snide humor) McCain cannot not recover.

And it may also be that people see through John McCain for the aging fraud he is.

When on Earth have you ever watched a debate that was unedited? Do you have some kind of special TV that filters out the MSM media BS that goes into these stultifyingly uninteresting debates?

My sentiment exactly. McCain and Co. have turned this election into a circus side show. It is my ardent wish that what we are witnessing are the death throes of the Republican Party.
