I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Frank

One would think that some of John McCain's Republican colleagues might actually want to help him become president of these United States, but no: given the opportunity to ensure that the presidential candidate might be able to make a substantive contribution to bailout measure negotiations, McCain's friends in the Republican Party put their noses to the grindstone and worked out a deal without any Maverick input. Clearly Republican leaders are totally in the tank for Obama.

How painful was the thought of working alongside McCain? Over at Politico, they report that Barney Frank minced few words, saying: "Nobody mentioned him. The man's irrelevant to the whole process. No Republican mentioned his name. I'm the only one who raised his name. They winced when I did." Frank also compared McCain to a cartoon superhero:

"He's been irrelevant to the process. He remains to be," said Frank. "I was afraid that his dropping in here, like Andy Kaufman's Mighty Mouse -- 'here I am to save the day' -- I thought that would slow things down. I didn't see any sign of our Republican colleagues paying any attention to him whatsoever."

Barney Frank is starting to seriously crack me up! How's that for mulit-tasking...he can help hammer out a deal while simultaneously slamming McCain at every press avail.

Dear America;

I am beside myself in disgust, as to what it is I am witnessing. Mr McCain is now being compared, by virtue of Congressman Barney Franks statement, to one of America's greatest hero's. I greatly respect Mr. McCain for his service to this country, but it pales by comparison to my service of close to eight decades. I have brought entertainment and inspiration to millions of children, and mice in this country, for lo these many years and resent the use of my name in association with McCain and his stunts, the likes of which no self respecting mouse would had the audacity to promote. I ask that henceforth my name not be associated with this man's endeavors.

Yours Respectfuly;
The One, The Only,
Mighty Mouse

P.S. That Kaufman guy was a fraud also, though less malicious.

Yes, I was thinking much the same thing. Especially since -- in the ORIGINAL Terrytoons shorts, anyway -- Mighty Mouse SANG all of his dialogue (it rhymed, too, as I recall) while he fought the bad 'guys'. Let's talk about multi-tasking, shall we?

Do you know the difference between doing something because it makes you look good and doing something because it's the right thing to do? The attention one draws to themselves as they do it.

McCainosaurus could have quietly made his way to Washington and simply appeared without all the fan-fare and hype, sat in, listened to what was going on, and then gave his approval or dissent. Granted, it is rather hard to miss the secret service crew that shows up before either candidate does, but the point is that McCain did not have to announce to the world that he was going, he could have just went and let his silent presence on the scene speak for itself. Not McCain... this war hero has forgotten that service is rendered because it is an obligation, not because it makes you look good. I cringe when I think that this man is representing men like me, who have served their country honorably and lived out the values instilled in us during service.

Someone needs to remind him that if he wants help understanding the meaning of Honor, he should look to one of the young men or women currently serving in the Army that he votes to deny additional benefits too... even though he has not problem adding additional stress to their families as he calls for additional wars.

Wow, well put MrBenjaminSir! Until recently, I lived in a city just outside a major army installation. Lived there all my life and we rubbed elbows with the military every day. One of my family members even runs the Med. clinic on base. I can tell you right now that our servicemen/women are coming home MESSED UP from this war, both physically and emotionally. One example - the taxi drivers that have told me how often, soldiers will duck and grab the wheel every time something blows across the road.

In the days of Viet Nam, at least your tour was limited to one year. If you managed to survive that, you got to go home. Not so for these troops. They send them again...and again...and again. McCain says he will keep right ON sending them.

McCain seems to have forgotten a lot, hasn't he? He tells us his tale of "being tortured", yet supports Bush's policies allowing the VERY SAME treatment of prisoners/detainees.
McCain also isn't particularly concerned that our troops don't have the proper equipment. How shameful that American parents had to purchase kevlar vests for their kids in the military and ship them to their sons and daughters in Iraq!

McCain as Mighty Mouse. That's funny!

My first thought yesterday, though, was of Chicken Little.

"The sky is falling! The sky is falling! (And I hope like hell no one notices that I'm the one who broke it - almost single-handed - er, winged!)"

Poooorrr McChicken Little.

Run an' hide...

OMG, I am so mad at him for invoking Mighty Mouse, but that analogy perfectly describes McCain's actions. LMAO!

The Congressional leadership, Pelosi and Reid, control the fate of what happens to any bailout legislation.

McCain can go to capital hill and complain like a grumpy old man if he likes, but it will not change the safeguards and oversight the democrats are insisting be included in the Bill.

It is the republicans who need convincing that this legislation is necessary and will help them get re-elected?

McCain the Maverick is not that well liked among his colleagues and republican rules apply come election time, its every man for himself.

Obama/ Biden

that was sooo funny I hope SNL does a skit on that.

I would feel so embarrased if someone talked about me like that, especially if my party or team members agreed.

Andy Kaufmann, I miss your insane genius. Barney Frank should refrain from insulting Andy or Mighty Mouse by comparing McChickenShit to either one.
