Craig Ferguson Knocks John McCain For Suspending Campaign, Compares Him To Castro, Napoleon, Caesar

Newly minted US citizen Craig Ferguson is outraged that John McCain would attempt to suspend the democratic process in the face of an economic crisis. In his monologue Wednesday night, Ferguson railed against McCain, saying:

"You can't suspend the democratic process because we're facing problems. At what point do you think, maybe we should suspend the election? We'll have the elections later. Some people have done that before: Castro did it, Napoleon did it, Julius Caesar did it. You can't do that. If you like it or not, the campaign is part of the democratic process....You wanna take your time off, that's fine, but you don't say we're suspending the campaign. You can't say that. It's the democratic process. We didn't suspend it for 9/11, we didn't suspend it for Pearl Harbor, we didn't suspend it for the Nazis, we didn't suspend it for the damn British. We don't do that in America!"

Craig Ferguson is one of those entertainers that at first blush seems funny, but then you take a second, third and fourth look and you realize he is seriously flawed. I use to laugh at his show's monologues, even when they were clearly offensive toward one group or another. But when I saw him perform live in person in Las Vegas, I realized he really is a jerk! It's not just an act.

I am amazed at how many glowing comments are posted about him, in my opinion he is not someone to be admired.

I love Craig Ferguson. He has been fantastic lately, really taking Americans to task for not seriously engaging in the political process, taking on the media, and taking on both candidates for engaging in silliness when the nation is in crisis. We are lucky to have him as a new American citizen who celebrates the rights AND responsibilities of citizenship.

Well let’s look at this. America has another problem and John McCain puts his tail between his legs and runs and hides. That gives his spin machine time to come up with a scenario where they are able to spin McCain into the imaginary hero of the moment. (Hurry up pull out the American flag) The problem for him is that Barack Obama will not play his games and McCain does not like it. What is his answer? Bo! Ho! You will not have ten town hall meetings with me. I can lie and slander you because you will not have ten town meetings with me. You can’t pick on me because I spent ten years in a Vietnamese prison. I for one want someone that cares about the American people rather then flies this imaginary American Flag. It’s time for John McCain to finally grow up and face the American people without one of his lobbyists speaking for him.

I hate to say it but this guy is too new to this "democracy" to be making grand statements. Would that they were true!! We do suspend the democratic process, and our constitutional principals, witness the patriot act, the illegal spying programs, extraordinary rendition that allows our surrogates to kidnap and torture people - all done in the name of liberty justice and the american way! We are so far off the rails, I hardly recognize this country anymore. Ferguson needs a little more schooling in the ways of modern american democracy. Love his faith though. gotta give him that!

Too new to this democracy? Last time I looked you didn't need specific tenure to form an opinion in the US. Moreover, if you've seen Ferguson on other shows, specifically Bill Mahre's HBO or talking to Keith Oberman, you'd realize he not only is an enthusiastic new citizen, but a knowledgeable one. He's done his homework, which is a hell of a lot more than can be said for the 11-12% of voting morons out there who still think Obama is a Muslim or anyone who thinks Sarah Palin has foreign policy know-how because Putin flies over US airspace (not Alaska by the way) to visit the US.

Remember the stupid vote was enough to give "W" four more years when the only thing on his platform at the time was how we must stop the evil (but happy) gays from professing their love for one another with civil marriage.
