I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Joan Rivers

JOAN and Melissa Rivers are livid over AOL's censorship of them. The duo did their comedic routine for myhollywood.com on Sunday for the Emmys, and AOL was supposed to link to a chunk of it. But their segment was booted when AOL suits thought it was too offensive. In the routine, Joan cited the trend of men with "hair from the Third Reich. Tom Hanks - does that scream Nazi Germany? And . . . Julia Louis-Dreyfus - luckily she waxed her mustache. I know one of her neighbors, and if she leaves it for two or three weeks she looks just like Hitler . . . Heidi Klum? Super Nazi!" Joan also referred to Eva Longoria-Parker as "Eva Longoria Porker" and ridiculed Oprah's big "ass." Joan told us, "I was shocked that the suits at AOL have no humor . . . But that's OK. I've been gagged more times than Linda Lovelace.

Poisonous epitaphs dished out periodically.

This truth is self-evident: Somewhere down the line, standup comedy's Bride of Wilderstein has lost all her relevancy, all her standards and all her taste.

At least Rex Humbard knew when to fold down the revivial tent and shut down the traveling salvation show for good.

I love Jamie Lee Curtis and I wonder: Joan, have you looked in a mirror lately?

Wow...this sucks.

joan and melissa - you are NOT funny. get off the air. It is painful to me to watch this pair - so desperate to stay in the public's eye. Sad, very sad....

My friend you can change the channel. Please do not torture yourself when the material isn't up to your expectations. Many others find it a good mix of guts & humor to self deprecate & slam others. It' s Eddy murphy style, it's free speech it's funny! Change the channel...

Joan reminds me of someone at an open mic night who tries way too hard, and it shows.

I adore Joan, but can't say the same for her amazingly bratty daughter, Melissa.
Joan has proven herself to be a great businesswoman and an exceptional comic,
however I do think the focus on German Fascists is a bit misplaced and is
unfunny as heck when commenting on celebrities at an awards show.

Joan, please continue your rants, but please use some other allusion when trying
to talk about fashion, it's unbecoming to use politics as a battering ram when
all we want is fashion gossip.

I LOVE JOAN!!

I keep wondering why the networks are so terrified of her.

She's one of the best.

Brilliant *raunchy* comedian. People forget sometimes that Joan's beauty is the *raunchy* woman who spares none, and she's *funny* n brilliant. Anyone seen / listen to her robot in SpaceBalls (w/ Mel Brooks)? She's a good funny merciless blonde. How many of those have we?

ain't nothing funny about joan rivers-sad and hackneyed would be more accurate a description.

plus she's a hard core republican as well.

I didn't know she was a hard core republican; that's even worse than her ugly face lift. Screw you Joan! You've become pathetic. When I've seen you on HSN you appear dioriented and medicated. You've had your day in the sun.....please bow out gracefully and do something worthwhile for the planet.

Joan's not like she used to be. When I read her one-liners I thought they were pretty funny. But when she delivered them they just sounded so scripted. She's past her prime.... but she's still funny.

Fabulous Joan... give 'em hell. You are a breath of fresh air in this whacked political correctness world. Lighten up people, your feigned outrage and offense is hilarious.
04:37 PM on 09/25/2008
I love Joan...saw her many years ago and she was hilarious...back when she was making jokes about Liz Taylor loitering in front of a microwave....my favorite joke of hers was they asked Princess Anne her age and she tapped it out with her hoof.
05:15 PM on 09/25/2008
So far I haven't seen any outrage in these comments, feigned or otherwise. Oh, I get it. If one fails to laugh at the unfunny, one should "lighten up." My mistake.

To be fair, I have found her to be hilarious in the past, and I still remember some of her jokes. But this just wasn't .
