Mccain Bailout

Ben Smith makes a good point: as crappy as the last two days have been for John McCain, they'd have been even worse if we'd been talking about Rick Davis and Sarah Palin. Ben also flags the new in-word for describing McCain: erratic.

I'd have to say "Sociopathic" is a more accurate descriptor!

We who post here, and those in the Media, might as well admit that at this point there is simply nothing John and Sarah could do that would cause their supporters to NOT VOTE FOR THEM!

The only thing for the media to do at this point is to continuously hold the POLLS accountable for reporting factual results and to verify that the polls are being conducted fairly. Anything else makes them complicit with what would be the biggest theft in the history of our (floundering) democracy. For McCain to WIN at this point, would require a conspiracy of IMMENSE proportion. It would have to begin with the News Media still calling this a "horse race to the finish", and end with Diebold (et.al.) and the Republican Party disenfranchising MILLIONS of voters!

The only other thing that the Republicans could do to keep the White House would be if we had a HUGE CRISIS, like the ECONOMY completely collapsing, to provide the cover that BUSH would need to say "I can not, in good conscience, step down at this critical time in our history"! (Along with say a Brigade of Combat Troops recently returned from Iraq, and a few thousand Blackwater security contractors, to quell any disturbances).

But THAT would never happen!

DOH!

I have started to have this sickening thought - or thoughts
(1) McCain is acting a wee bit funny - he is doing things that most fairly conventional folks would not do - he has been saying some peculiar mixed-up things at times -- then in this fairly intense group setting, he just sits there and freezes up - not willing - or not able to contribute productive thoughts.
(2) Palin is looking more and more like she could be Spiro Agnew - an unqualified drone with a train wreck of ethical & legal problems closing in at an accelerated rate.
--- so -- let's say that somehow they get elected -- how long before :
(a.) Palin has to resign & then gets replaced by -- Newt or Mitt or Rudy or ??? Dick Cheney (remember McC is getting pretty "erratic")
then
(b) we then get a very sad statement from the White House indicating that the diagnosis has been made that the once strong & vital mind of JMcC is now fighting a valiant battle but - one that has an inevitable outcome - and that he will step down -
NO - this could never happen --?????

God help us if this nimrod and his Rapture-Me Barbie are the next Peep and Veep of the US. BTW, does the drawing of Ben Smith on the Politico website remind anyone else of Christopher Reeve?
