Two weeks ago, Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign gleefully publicized a spate of news reports about misleading and untruthful statements in the advertisements of his rival, Senator John McCain. Asked by a voter in New Hampshire if he would respond in kind, Mr. Obama said, "I just have a different philosophy, I'm going to respond with the truth," adding, "I'm not going to start making up lies about John McCain."

Why the Smear Piece against Obama:

Every singe statement was factually true.

Perhaps it's just you who are misreading it.

Compared to McCain's 100's of self contradictory obvious outright Lies?

Folks, The NYT is not Liberal. There are no liberal major papers.

The NYT has at least 2 reporters/ writers, Jim & Julie, who know how to check facts & evaluate the reliability of sources. That could get Jim & Julie fired from the NYT. Maybe another element of the MSM will hire the 2 before the NYT finds that they still employ reliable reporters.

These statements maybe misleading but they are not outright lies like those by McCain.

For instance, McCain/Bush plan may not have been to privatize social security for all older citizens, but they certainly would like to.

what that line about a lie being half way around the world before the truth gets on his shoes?

Obama is forced to play politics with the truth because for example; he called Mc to say hey lets work together to get the financial mess cleaned up. In McCain's media talking point as he called off his champaign, his lips were moving but Obama's words were coming out.

Point is most people and it seems ALL journalist do not check facts - they blindly go with the last thing they heard.

I don't like it but as Job Biden's mama told him; if a kid gets in your face, slap the taste outta his mouth.

It's how Mc plays the game - NBA vs street ball; Obama's doing what needs to be done for the non thinking voter.

Obama lies sometime to attack back with the same medicine, but McCain is a pathological liar.

There is a contest between two opponents.

Opponent 1 (Barack-Biden) uses truth as his weapon.

Opponent 2 (McCaint-Falin) uses BOTH truth and lie as his weapon.

Who has the advantage?

Obama would be dumb to allow a deceptive and opportunistic McCaint an advantage over him.

With all the other crazy stuff out there about McCain, the GOP platform, and what McCain is doing, there's no need for this type of ads.

There is a difference between the opinion of Misleading and the Bold Face Lies of McBORC

The article mentions that Rush Limbaugh has written about how his "stupid, laxy Mexicans" comment was taken out of context in one of Obama's ads. But most or Rush's listeners don't read (he actually tells them they don't need to if they listen to him), has he actually said on his program how much he respects our neighbors to the south?

"I'm not going to start making up lies about John McCain."

LOL!! So much for that theory! They both lie which is why you have to look for the truth. Two good places to look are factcheck.org and snopes.com. But that's only if you want to know the truth. If you want to just spout off and make stuff up to spread, don't bother.

The next ad will be about how NYT lost their readership base by bowing to right wing criticism.
