Let's see...for the entirety of Bush's time in office the stock market has stagnated, real income is down, savings are negative, the debt has more than doubled, foreclosures are rampant and we are up to are ears in two wars. But all of this isn't Bush's fault.

And for my next trick, I'm gonna make water run uphill.

Don't forget Bush inherited a 270 billion dollar surplus from that old tax and spend liberal Bill Clinton - so are we resting comfortably children? Good then lets begin

270 + starting surplus (in billions)
738 - minus
----------
468 = total current defict

(this is a disingenuous number since it adds back the Social Security trust fund)

Heck of a job Bushie !!

The debt hasn't doubled. There WAS no debt when he took office! We had a surplus.

The state of this administration, and subsequently the U.S., can only captured by a ballsy comedian. Under G.W. Bush's "leadership" it is horrifically comical how much damage has been done to this country. I only hope that this neo-con fearmongering tactic will not have the same affect on the media and public it did in 2003.

It already has captured the media, so to he** with them. Worry about lazy ignorants who vote believing it.

What happened to the days of "hold on America" or "your government is working to deal with this situation, so don't panic and drive the stocks even lower". So much for boosting consumer confidence.

OMG! This is so bloody funny and well done! I have sent this to everyone I know. This is what anyone with a brain is thinking about "November/September surprise" but to see it so clearly laid out? EERIE! CREEPY! and omg... I can't believe we are dumb enough to fall for it. They aren't even doing a good job of hiding it!

And have you noticed that GW is the only president who hasn't aged at a phenom pace during office? That's because he hasn't had to use his brain or stress ONCE...

"Evangelical Christianity, as everyone knows, is founded upon hate, as the Christianity of Christ was founded upon love. " (H.L. Mencken)

And think about this line from Mencken while watching the debate tonight and McCain is speaking:

"Thus he fought his last fight, eager only for blood. It quickly became frenzied and preposterous, and after that pathetic. All sense departed from him. He bit right and left, like a dog with rabies. He descended to demagogy so dreadful that his very associates blushed. His one yearning was to keep his yokels heated up -- to lead his forlorn mob against the foe. That foe, alas, refused to be alarmed. It insisted upon seeing the battle as a comedy. Even Darrow, who knew better, occasionally yielded to the prevailing spirit. Finally, he lured poor Bryan into a folly almost incredible.....

"....here stood the man who had been thrice a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic -- and once, I believe, elected -- there he stood in the glare of the world, uttering stuff that a boy of eight would laugh at! The artful Darrow led him on: he repeated it, ranted for it, bellowed it in his cracked voice. A tragedy, indeed! He came into life a hero, a Galahad, in bright and shining armor. Now he was passing out a pathetic fool."

If I were President the comedians like Stewart would get the Medal of Freedom. They have done more good than the bulk of our worthless MSM to inform the people just how STUPID and DANGEROUS are our leaders.

So far nobody has explained the mechanism by which the economy is going to go into a depression, or how $700 billion charged to the taxpayers will make the economy healthier.

Call Bush on his B.S. Contact your senators and representatives and say NO BAILOUT. Please.

maybe ive bought into the scare tactics of the bush admin, but not bailing out would be far greater than the reprecusions of standing firm on the principals of the american ppl - ppl whom are ignorant of how they were lured into profiting wall street from the get-go.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:02 PM on 09/26/2008

indeed, it sounds like you've drunk the kool-aid, because it's not clear what you mean by this. are you suggesting, as st. reagan did lo those years back, that the benefit of bailouts will "trickle down" to the "american ppl"? same sh*t rhetoric, different circumstance. how do you know where bailout funding is going? how is this going to benefit the "principals of the american ppl" (whatever those might be. perhaps shopping, as your name would suggest?). the only "ppl" being "lured" now are elected officials who can't stand up to lobbyists and this stupid shock doctrine.

The only thing they are saying the 700 billion will do is free up credit. If you listen to most economists, they are saying that the downward spiral in the economy has already begun, and some very tough times are coming. I really think that this needs to be conveyed to the American people. The majority thinks that if this goes through, it will solve the problem, when it definitely will not.

Credit IS the problem. Only in America does the average American have this much debt. Only America owes trillions to China.

Tightening up credit would be the best thing.

The 'Republicans are the party that wrecked America' in the last eight years!
McCain-Palin have nowhere to go now but down, and I will tell you exactly how this will happen. They can run away from President Bush, but they can't run away from the Republican Party. The Republicans will be regarded from now on as "the party that wrecked America." Over the weeks ahead, as carnage in the economy and the financial markets ramps up, it will become increasingly clear. It is important that this meme be spread through the internet. I urge all commentators to adopt and spread the idea that the Republicans are "the party that wrecked America." It will work because it is the truth. Use it freely. Just spread the word. Get the meme going.

A wee bit off topic, BUT ...
Is it me, or does it look like they're using Botox on the President?
On the side-by-side videos, check the difference in GWB's furrowed forehead from the Iraq speech vs. $700 Financial Bailout speech.
Then again, maybe he's not as worried about this crisis. Lame Duck.

Eventually the boy who cried wolf actually was eaten by a wolf. Care to take the gamble this isn't a wolf (and don't forget if you are wrong, the wolf eats you).

Another thing....
Is everybody forgetting the bankruptcy laws that were passed a few years ago?
They made it next to impossible for average citizens to delare bankruptcy. We all sort of let it slide at the time but these days we can see why they did it.
The laws were passed at the instigation of the credit industry. They pushed credit onto the american public and wanted to get them on the hook for large debt. Now the industry is in trouble and wants us to bail them out. I say go let them go scratch.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:37 PM on 09/26/2008

Well, not actually next to impossible. Just a lot more expensive, as debt now has to be repaid to the extent possible, rather than being wiped out. Same difference, I suppose, as a practical matter sometimes.

But here's the problem: freezing up of the financial markets will clobber the savings, investments, and retirement funds of a great many ordinary folks. Given the trillions upon trillions of dollars at risk as a result of leveraged up toxic waste derivatives, plus the tanking of more normal sorts of securities because of the broad pullback in inflated housing prices and up-to-the-eyeballs debt levels of so many Americans, that outcome might be unavoidable anyway.

I have a sneaking suspicion that humanity is doomed.

No, corrupt politicians and bankers are doomed. The world is waking up to their lies and deception.

Hope they've bought a nice deep bunker somewhere.
