I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Palin

Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, admitting that until recently she was a vocal supporter of Sarah Palin, now says the vice presidential nominee should bow out:

Some of the passionately feminist critics of Palin who attacked her personally deserved some of the backlash they received. But circumstances have changed since Palin was introduced as just a hockey mom with lipstick -- what a difference a financial crisis makes -- and a more complicated picture has emerged.

As we've seen and heard more from John McCain's running mate, it is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem. Quick study or not, she doesn't know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warrant her promotion.

Parker says her turnaround came from watching Palin in interview. Like other critics, she wasn't impressed:

Palin's recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I've been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I've also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there's not much content there.

It's so bad, Parker says, that Palin should quit the race:

Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

Read the whole thing.

McCain made a huge mistake when he picked Palin. I'm almost scared to watch the VP debate next week. I hope Biden doesn't hurt her too much...OK I'm lying, I can't wait to see the carnage.

Me, too. Everyone I know is so jazzed. My son, (in his early twenties) can't wait. He thinks this whole thing is hysterical. Hell...it IS hysterical.

Joe Biden! Think how delicate- walkin on ice this poor guy has to go when debating her. You know
darn well the Repubs are going to cry Bully and that will be the nice word.

He can only ever stick to tough concise Obama/BIden policy over and over and let Sarah Palin sink all by herself.
How in the heck can Joe Biden actually have a"debate" with this woman- come on!

The Repubs are making a deal with the topics and they will get to know the substancein advance- or how else is she going to get through it?
Get out the popcorn and beer.

Well, it sure gets rid of the global warming problem ;-)

Remember when Goldwater ran against Johnson? The Ad with the little girl plucking a daisy was a lot more effective than this attempt.

I wonder how today's electorate would react to this type ad.

McCain will not get rid of this woman and she will not go of her on volition. She's too monomaniacal.
Obama must win--or we are all toast . . . . Literally.

i truly believe that next thursday's night debate will go down in political history.

people will be writing and talking about it decades from now.
it will be one of the biggest political embarrassments of all time.

her political career will be in shambles next week.
at least she'll finally have the time to take care of that poor neglected baby of hers.

Don't you know John, all that glitters is not gold, even if it looked good on paper!

Didn't do your homework, did you Karl?

Palin certainly won't be able to win the debate based on her speaking skills and a command of the issues. I would suggest that she cradle her infant son in her arms during the entire debate - she would at least win over the "moms without brains" demographic.

Speaking of her infant son....how old is he? I guess she isn't breast feeding him......if so, when she cradles him in her arms, she should whip out her boob and start feeding....that should fluster Biden...LOL

I understand how many women would be moved by this Gov. of Alaska holding her little baby. But, being moved to see her as VP, a heart beat away from leading this nation in such times is hard to understand. I am in no way saying she should have not been considered because she is a woman, I remember Thatcher and Golda Meir. I would hope we would not only want a President smarter than us but smarter than most, and with outstanding judgement. In this choice McCain has shown neither. I am really disturbed by the lack of intuitive common sense in so many of us.

The GOP will not move her out. She's brought McCain millions of the hardcore chris tianright voters who were holding back from McCain. Target: Oval Office.

Obviously this bad choice, another example of McCain's bad judgement, has to go. Whatever reason they pick - try ill health, it will be and all too obvious lie. But they are good at that. If it is illness, I am sure that after the election she will be granted a miraculous cure by a witch doctor. To visualize McCain's behavior during this political campaign picture a spastic squirrel avoiding the traffic in the road.

They know if they replace her it will be over for them. Choosing her was the mistake to end all mistakes. The Repubs who hate McCain but would vote for him because of her addition would stay home. The undecideds would throw their hands up at this colossal mess and vote for Obama. As George Clooney's character in O Brother would say, "They're in a tight spot."
